hey man, i had a rockford fosgate p2, which is about 250rms, but my amp is 500rms, and when i turn the volume up pretty high, the sub starts making a rattling noise, so i thought something was wrong with the sub, so i tried my friends 300rms JVC sub and also a brand new rockford 200rms sub one after the other and they also made the rattling noise when turned up, do you think its because the amp is overpowering the subs?
just because there from walmart doesnt mean they suck.. you need the proper wattage.. go to my pf and look at mine i have 4 sony 12" subs and im adding 4000watts today XD its kick ass. i had to add a high performance alternator because my otherone wasnt strong enough
See the frequncy/crossover of 12's is higher; see how the first two bass notes hit harder than the third one by far. With my 18's , the first one doesn't even come through on the subs; the second one is even fairly weak; but the third one really pounds. This super low tuning is why things shake and move more compared to how much bass you hear/feel. it's so low other things pick it up better than you. it sucks in a way because it makes it seem weaker and more Redneck cuase the shakng.
If you could read you'd understand that the subs are 300rms each, and that most amps are rated peak. and i used peak of the amp so i wouldn't have to calculate the rms. btw these are gone anyways, got some new ones.
@diablo2369 sorry to correct you man but most shitty fuckin amps are rated at peak everything is rms now days when i have 7000watts going to one subs thats rms bro
lets see...your saying your shits getting powered by 600rms (max doesnt mean bullshit, only to noobs) by an amp thats rated at 2000rms, but only does 1000 if that.
the gain isnt a fucking volume knob, why do i have to keep telling people this, if it was a volume knob it would say volume on it.
its GAIN, which you set with a DMM or an oscilloscope to control how much power is going to your speakers.
