I like the way Caruso was experimenting with E lucevan le stelle, having done several recording in different keys. What a result can be achieved by masters with singing a song only one tone higher or lower than before!
That's interesting... he obviously used to experimenting with voice timbre and the whole vocal technique. Here he seems to be concentrated on high obertones while as Carlos Francisco he used darker chest shades. Both versions are beautiful, best examples of real art of the past.
Delifine, (Sorry for the delay in responding.) Sorry for that last very belated answer-I see now the rest of the discussion-I don't how I missed it the first time around.
Carlos Francisco was a pseudonym that Emilio de Gogorza used nn early records, among several. On Red Seal, however, he always used his true name: [Eduardo] Emilio de Gogorza.
Fuzzbear6270 = THANK YOU...!!!...To me, this is the most beautiful arrangement/rendition of this most beautiful ballad...The stone age recording techniques of that time can't detract from the greatness of Mr. de Gogorza's voice...In addition the TEMPO is perfect...!!!...THANK YOU...!!!

Is Emilio de Gorgonza and Carlos Francisco -the same singer? This version, even the voice timbre sounds so different from the one by Carlos Francisco
