Is it just me or are the graphics better in Warband? I was just looking at some of the shine on the armour. Looks loads better! Might have to invest here methinks.

I've been waiting 30 years for a authentic European medieval period game that doesn't have: Magic, Dragons, ghosts, Orcs, Elves, Demons, or any of that other crap. Honestly, why has it taken so long??
It took an independent game developer to finally hear the voice of thousands of gamers about what we wanted and a lot of courage. So, to all the haters who said you HAVE TO have magic in these games, hope you enjoy eating your words.

500 players on one battlefield would give players some serious lag even on high end machines. I think that's why the graphics aren't that good to begin with so more ppl can handle the large scale battles with lower spec gaming PC's.
Hopefully the single player won't be so tedious and humdrum this time round... There was a serious lack in variety of quests. The ONLY thing going for it is the combat which is satisfying enough, but that's it.
Vanilla Mount and Blade bores me to tears and is just plain aimless. They really need to put some effort in giving you things to actually do with their fancy mounted combat system. Or maybe stop centring the entire game on mounted combat as it's the only thing you really do...
Paradox is a good corporation, in their next game they should add more variety to the battles, make them more epic, etc. If technology is good enough to support 1000 players in one massive battle without lag then I look forward to it.

@PersonalPariah it will be a bigger map because of the new faction, but hopefully they have learned from their mistakes and take into conisderation that people like variety.
I loved the original mount and blade. all the awesome mods there was to download. and all the neat features! but the lack of a multi-player always bothered me for a reason. now that feature is added! this is something i will buy! :D

Most awesome. I'm a diehard fan of M&B battle mechanics and hope the new expansion has other improvements over the political system and interactions with the settlements, towns, and castles.
Man, much improvements! like "real" ragdolls! the boddies before were like half ragdolls. im really looking forward to this game, i hope it would be harder though. defeating a army of 100 soldiers are possible in the original game. =P
Sweet, now you can us throwing axes as a throwing weapon or a melee weapon, that's what i like. BTW the battle seems pretty big, better than the one right now, only 20 ppl from each side can join!
Actually the Battle sizer doesn't 'mod' the game, it just allows you to change the 'battle size limit' to a higher number if you so prefer. Lower numbers make the game easier, and allow you to be a huge factor in large battles. Bigger numbers will give a more large scale atmosphere, but also make your skills less emphasized in the grand scheme of things.
With the battle sizer you can do the same you can ingame, only now you have a higher limit if you prefer. (Compared to 80 or whatever.)
I only have one issue with this game (the original, not the expansion) :
There is no story. I don't need a FF storyline, just more personality for the different factions. If you took away the clothes, you could not tell them apart. I think they need to add background to the characters more, kind of like the companions, only more. I don't think it would be hard and would give the player the feeling that what he is doing is actually affecting the game world.
that's the idea of the game! there's not supposed to be an evil realm. it's supposed to be warring factions. there are different races beneath the clothes, but the whole point is that they're really just separated in their combat style. one of the companions says as much in game.
I bought M&B while it was still in beta, version .903 to be precise, and have played it many times since. The graphics may not be flashy, but they don't have to be, the gameplay is what makes this a winner. I'm really looking forward to Warband; new items, improved animations and combat, plus a host of other goodly features will ensure my speedy purchase!
Dude I was a closed beta tester, theres very SLIGHT improvements over the visuals (All though you got your shaders and HDR) the models are the same. The graphics are low-end (Early days of the xbox/ps2) The devs even said the visuals were amatuerish
That being said, this game does not need a visual improvement because its not here for eye candy and thats why I love it, they just need smooth animations and ill be happy.
In m&b you could upgrade villages and cities if u control 1 but they stayed the same for instance you could build a manor,watch tower and other stuff but the map stayed the same.
This is a really rare gem of a game in a massive pile of shit that is the video game industry. If your looking for something fun, easy to play, hard to master sort of game then look no further for Mount & Blade has arrived!

The disappointment that is Warband:
So, take it from someone who actually knows game and listen up.
Graphics: while not always critical to the enjoyment of a game, the graphics in this expansion fail hard. One might expect a bit of an update, but... nope.
Strategy: nothing new here - period.
Politics: Superficial changes that make one wonder if the designers are simply lazy. Marriage, liege, and lords make little difference overall.

Multiplayer: A sad, sad attempt. Yes, multiplayer capabilities are added, but I wonder why? Sounds fun to play campaigns sure... but was that added? Of course not... the designers again fail. However... you can get together with a bunch of people and melee... oh what fun.
I think the world could do without this expansion.
This game has been requested by the community for multiplayer since it arrived, this is the first attempt at multiplayer, who says there shan't be more expansions later if this one is a success? From the first day I played this game I wanted to be able to play it with my friends, and here comes a part where we can do just that. I'm excited at that fact.

The moment I bought the full version after maxing out the demo I wanted more and more, I spent many hours on the full version then wanted to play with real people, real people to fight, trade with and fight along side of. Umm... Mount & Blade will probably never have a solid, storyline. This is mostly a sandbox game where you start fighting, create/help a kingdom and manage it. Singleplayer campaign propably means that you start playing, rise in level, conquer castles and then atlast, take over all of Calradia. Then its just job well done and gameplay gets boring when no one can resist your undefeatable empire.

In m&b you could upgrade villages and cities if u control 1 but they stayed the same for instance you could build a manor,watch tower and other stuff but the map stayed the same.

Even so, they still look outdated, I could care less abou8t the graphics but when it comes to games like this, meh animation should be a strong point.

mooseflier what in the hell are you talking about are you even playing the beta? No need to insult us with "low expectations" because right now there is nothing out like this game. You could say Age of Chivalry but that is no comparison. Also online you play with no autoblock and elimination. I guarantee you if you play with us you'll get owned, you won't know how to block or how to use a mount without couching. What is your taleworld name.

Wow, you guys have some low expectations.
The disappointment that is Warband:
So, take it from someone who actually knows game and listen up.
Graphics: while not always critical to the enjoyment of a game, the graphics in this expansion fail hard. One might expect a bit of an update, but... nope.
Strategy: nothing new here - period.
Politics: Superficial changes that make one wonder if the designers are simply lazy. Marriage, liege, and lords make little difference overall.

The game has also been dumbed down for newer folks, as if the game wasn't easy and boring enough... now you can have the game play for you.
Multiplayer: A sad, sad attempt. Yes, multiplayer capabilities are added, but I wonder why? Sounds fun to play campaigns sure... but was that added? Of course not... the designers again fail. However... you can get together with a bunch of people and melee... oh what fun.
I think the world could do without this expansion.

This game has been requested by the community for multiplayer since it arrived, this is the first attempt at multiplayer, who says there shan't be more expansions later if this one is a success? From the first day I played this game I wanted to be able to play it with my friends, and here comes a part where we can do just that. I'm excited at that fact.
If you consider it easy and boring, why not up the difficulty from easiest to perhaps normal or download a mod to spice things up?

Correct! The moment I bought the full version after maxing out the demo I wanted more and more, I spent many hours on the full version then wanted to play with real people, real people to fight, trade with and fight along side of. Alot of people wanted it and now its on its way, This is the first step in the right direction with multi player, I've just got the invite in the closed beta, About to install now ; )

I'm amazed by the way this game grew up, i already knew, sinse the begin it could made it to the perfection, now with multi player Mount&Blade will be ready to kick some ass... just gotcha wait a little more... i'm sure it will worth it.

Damn right it's my opinion. And that's what I'm posting here... because people come to read those opinions, and post their own. However, no one needs your opinion or comments on other peoples' opinions. Nor did I claim anyone was forcing me to play it. Instead, I'm giving my opinion so that other people know how bad this game really is. You'll just have to accept that and move on.

Umm... Mount & Blade will probably never have a solid, storyline. This is mostly a sandbox game where you start fighting, create/help a kingdom and manage it. Singleplayer campaign propably means that you start playing, rise in level, conquer castles and then atlast, take over all of Calradia. Then its just job well done and gameplay gets boring when no one can resist your undefeatable empire.

Which is why you play on 127% difficulty and download different mods. Try Expanded Gameplay III, it'll give you a whole new persective.
