  • oh man I forgot how amazing Raul Malo's voice is! LOVE this!

  • Great song!!! I wish these guys were still around. I'm not a country fan, but I'm always up for The Mavericks, Mike Ness, and any band Gram Parsons was in.

  • Absolutely love this song. The energy in this performance is unmistakable. One of the last country acts I really liked before country started to suck.

  • listen to the drums!! Awesome performance from the band

  • What a great band!!! One of my all-time favorites!!

  • This sounds very close to the studio version, which is how it should be!

  • new country sucks and until you get bands like the mavericks dwight yokam alabama leroy parnell you aint got true music with heart and soul its just people in it for the money and its sad they dont play them on the radio anymore !!!!!!!!!!

  • I agree 100%. Can't think of anyone who does it better. Can't wait to see for myself.

  • These guys are awesome and real country unlike this crap like taylor swift and rascall flatts pop crap!

  • @SPNFENDER

Face it - if if Taylor Swift was 40 years old and 200 lbs no one would have ever heard of her. Oh to dream.....

  • yeah

  • great unique sound. love this band

  • he has an awesome voice, good looking too <3

  • Love that beautiful rich sounding hollow body twelve string.

  • i cant get enuf of these guys

  • fucking great

  • Fantastic sound! Incredible that this is LIVE - what an amazing band they were!

  • i grew up on this song and the other old songs frm the past... wish they would bring them back

  • So dad gum awesome!

  • this guy can sing....loved em when i was younger...wonder y they dont sang no more

  • He cool

  • Saw live totally awesome

  • what a cool song.. fantastic...

  • I listened this song for the first time in Country Music Fan Fair 94, miss those times

  • @countrynuno Yeah, I remember the 1st time I listened to this song. The whole album is great! :-)

  • I could listen to this song a thousands times in a row, just so dam pretty!

  • his name is raui malo, not palo. their still awsome.

  • I love this band! I would love to see them again... Cincinnati! What a intoxicating voice... so smooth.. so beautiful... so much emotion...

  • @Caisa011 - intoxicating - the perfect word for this :)

  • the guitar player on the left of the stage plays for dwight yoakum

  • @glenmann62 he does? i love dwight, is he playing with him now?

  • @SuperSpank111 yes the last time i saw dwight he was playing with him and if you check out some live dwight video,s on youtube you will see him along with Jhonny cashes old bass player Dave Roe...i had some beers with them after the show in n.y. in a bar next door to the show!..Dwight went straight into the bus and never came out!

  • @SuperSpank111 I saw Dwyght in Houston last Friday night ... end of the second row, next to the ramp the artists enter the stage from. Eddie Perez (Raul's guitar player on this) was with him. Saw them in the same place 2 years ago, and Eddie was with him then, too. He's a GREAT guitarist!!!

  • What happened to the Mavericks?! They were one of the few country acts I liked and this song is their best!

  • @gerns99 I know! Their songs were so mesmerizing...

  • No voice better than Mr. Mercury but maybe his...Raul..Palo

  • this guy sounds alot like dwight yoakam to me for some reason

  • @rebelsouth100 It's the Spanish sound.. but his voice is unique.. I can tell his voice anywhere.

  • @rebelsouth100 no way dude

  • @SuperSpank111 no no, i can hear it too o.O makes sense xD

  • some songs really hit the mark,on how i feel, and on what you wish you could. love these guys for that, and just real real good music..........

  • great singer

  • Nice bass, good guitar but where's the brass and the accordion? The Mavs were a stroke of musical excellence...this is fun but ordinary!

  • ooo i need only my beer and gril friend is all!!!!!!

  • i love this song!!!!!!!!!!

  • One of my Favorite Maverick Tunes!!!

  • 4 beers, 1/2 a joint , girlfriend and this song is all i need.

  • GREAT!!!

  • Great band!!!!!!

  • This Raul Malo's solo band..not the Mavericks.good stuff!!

  • @steveplaky - If it is his solo band then he Paul on drums and Robert on bass from the Mavericks...

  • Without a doubt one of the best singers in the world today. This is good shit. I'm a metal head but this guy got pipes and The Mavericks music kick ass. When I heard a Crying Shame I fell out of my chair. How could anyone hit those notes? Any Country band that doesn't take this guy on, Shame on country music. Malo an Elvis

    period.

  • Just wonderful -- Raul changed some of the notes, and it's even more perfect than it was originally! Thanks for posting it!

  • idealni melodii

  • doesn't look like any of the original band members except raul are in this video clip - a shame that they didn't make it - a talented group and raul's got a magnificent voice.

  • the base guitar player, Bobby Reynolds...he's still there...just his hair is short now :(

  • These guys were a pop band out of Miami so that Tejano influence was bound to come out. Raul Malo being of Spanish heritage as well. I felt they were pushed aside and that was a true disservice to us all.

  • I think this group is underrated. They've had many great hits, such as "Oh, what A Thrill," "What A Crying Shame," "There Goes My Heart," and "All You Ever Do Is Bring Me Down." I enjoy all four of these songs, and I think that The Mavericks should've stayed around after the fiasco that "All You Ever Do Is Bring Me Down" caused. I personally liked the Mexican accordion player (Flacco Jimenez) they used in the song. I think country radio should've accepted what they were trying to do. I did!

  • Flaco Jimenez collaborated with Stephen Stills on "Change Partners"

  • Great jangly guitar riffs... My fav song of a favorite band. Want to sing this on stage with our band.

  • "What A Crying Shame" is one of my favorite 1-5-4s in the Key of G! (Yes they also play 2 in the bridge)

  • Great!! Cool!!! Fantastic!!!! Love it!!!

  • This is great and Austin is o so cool !!

  • Oddly enough, I seem to recall these guys losing support from Country Radio because they didn't necessarily stick to what was considered "country" and started throwing in unusual influences, like the Tejano accordion in "All You Ever Do IS Bring Me Down". I thought it was great, and it turned me on to the genius of Flaco Jiminez, but most Country Radio stations started to lose interest in The Mavericks soon after.

  • this is da kool shyt ever

  • Can anyone even come close to a cuter smile ?

  • country as it should be...thanks mavericks

  • Prekrasen sastav prekrasna musika.

  • main singer cute

  • what a crying shame that you have no shows in Holland.

  • An I live in Austin. Everyone comes here to sing.

  • @redmaj1 Hell Yeah! Austin ROCKS!

  • Yea, where did they go?

  • song is great and the band is one of the country greats

  • Went to see the Mavs at the Albert Hall in London a few years ago... packed house... terrific show... terrific band. What happened to them ? Anyone know ?

  • that voice....so sexy

  • If he is back with the Mavericks that is great...My understanding was they had a pretty ruff break up in the 90's ...I hope they write some new stuff....I love there old stuff.....

  • these guys weren't bad, i think i was in 7/8th grade when they were around, what ever happened to them?

  • Yes Eddie plays with Dwight yoakam

    now.

  • I swear I saw the other guitar player in Dwight Yoakums video, "Blame the Vein"

  • Country, rock,punk...no matter..Raul and Roy..the 2 greatest voices ever.

  • Roy who?

you'll have to forgive me, i'm only startin to really give country a chance now that i'm older.

i agree, Malo has quite a voice.

  • Orbison, Pretty Woman, Blue Bayou, and the group Traveling Wilburys.

  • Scared me shamanjon I thought you were going to say Roy Clarck..HA..HA

  • I could have said Roy Rogers ;)

  • Roy Orbison is my guess..

  • I was the program director of a country music station back in 1993. I accidentally hit the wrong track of a CD and played "What a Cryin' Shame by mistake. The phones lit up.

Six months later in Nashville I met Raul and told him the story. He laughed his ass off and whipped out a bottle of tequila. We got hammered that night and I'm here to tell you, he's as great a guy as you'd want him to be.

  • Pound for pound, country's greatest voice.

  • This video is from their DVD "The Mavericks, Live in Austin" I ordered it online and it is awesome.

  • yea what a crying shame they broke up

but at least we still have RAUL. !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • oh your real good, calling someone that has adifferent color that name.Your real mature! He's the guy thats the lead singer from Hootie and the blowfish.(DUH)!!!!!!Get a life!

  • exsues me?? their new.their good!!give them a chance.your just being rude.can you do this all the time.ppl won;t like you.how would that make you feel??

  • Why do all the good groups always fold and drift off into the distance. These guy's were the best country band to come along in ages!

  • These guys can put out the tunes. I remember listening to these guys for the first time in '94. I did not know they broke up. Thats sad man.

  • i know their great!!and cute too.i just wish they come back. well maybe one day they will.if all of their fans e-mail someone to get them back.

  • Hell yeah , I remember when these guys were around, a good traditional country band, without alot of controversy around em' like Kenny Chesney or some of this other Krap that's around

  • Each video I find of this song is better than the last --- like this one the best. Great music, beautiful song.

  • man, I aint heard the mavericks in a good while. good to run across this vid! thanks

  • Saw them live at the Greek Theater in LA in '95, met them backstage..great show. Kinda dissappointed Raul Malo didn't feel the need for the meet and greet afterward. I guess that's how it is when you are the star of the show.

  • main singer sexy

  • yes he is great moves

  • I saw them do this song live in Austin... must have been 2001 or earlier.

  • When was this and are these the original band members?

  • This song came out 94 or 95. The band members are original excepte the lead guitar player . He now plays for Dwight

  • There is no better music to dance to in your living room with your husband! I fell in love to this music.

  • I love this band so much, and his voice is the best.

  • This is so great. Yes, I have the DVD but my hubby is watching TV right now, so thank you for posting these songs.
