Great song!!! I wish these guys were still around. I'm not a country fan, but I'm always up for The Mavericks, Mike Ness, and any band Gram Parsons was in.
Absolutely love this song. The energy in this performance is unmistakable. One of the last country acts I really liked before country started to suck.
new country sucks and until you get bands like the mavericks dwight yokam alabama leroy parnell you aint got true music with heart and soul its just people in it for the money and its sad they dont play them on the radio anymore !!!!!!!!!!
@SuperSpank111 yes the last time i saw dwight he was playing with him and if you check out some live dwight video,s on youtube you will see him along with Jhonny cashes old bass player Dave Roe...i had some beers with them after the show in n.y. in a bar next door to the show!..Dwight went straight into the bus and never came out!
@SuperSpank111 I saw Dwyght in Houston last Friday night ... end of the second row, next to the ramp the artists enter the stage from. Eddie Perez (Raul's guitar player on this) was with him. Saw them in the same place 2 years ago, and Eddie was with him then, too. He's a GREAT guitarist!!!
Without a doubt one of the best singers in the world today. This is good shit. I'm a metal head but this guy got pipes and The Mavericks music kick ass. When I heard a Crying Shame I fell out of my chair. How could anyone hit those notes? Any Country band that doesn't take this guy on, Shame on country music. Malo an Elvis
doesn't look like any of the original band members except raul are in this video clip - a shame that they didn't make it - a talented group and raul's got a magnificent voice.
These guys were a pop band out of Miami so that Tejano influence was bound to come out. Raul Malo being of Spanish heritage as well. I felt they were pushed aside and that was a true disservice to us all.
I think this group is underrated. They've had many great hits, such as "Oh, what A Thrill," "What A Crying Shame," "There Goes My Heart," and "All You Ever Do Is Bring Me Down." I enjoy all four of these songs, and I think that The Mavericks should've stayed around after the fiasco that "All You Ever Do Is Bring Me Down" caused. I personally liked the Mexican accordion player (Flacco Jimenez) they used in the song. I think country radio should've accepted what they were trying to do. I did!
Oddly enough, I seem to recall these guys losing support from Country Radio because they didn't necessarily stick to what was considered "country" and started throwing in unusual influences, like the Tejano accordion in "All You Ever Do IS Bring Me Down". I thought it was great, and it turned me on to the genius of Flaco Jiminez, but most Country Radio stations started to lose interest in The Mavericks soon after.
Went to see the Mavs at the Albert Hall in London a few years ago... packed house... terrific show... terrific band. What happened to them ? Anyone know ?
If he is back with the Mavericks that is great...My understanding was they had a pretty ruff break up in the 90's ...I hope they write some new stuff....I love there old stuff.....
I was the program director of a country music station back in 1993. I accidentally hit the wrong track of a CD and played "What a Cryin' Shame by mistake. The phones lit up.
Six months later in Nashville I met Raul and told him the story. He laughed his ass off and whipped out a bottle of tequila. We got hammered that night and I'm here to tell you, he's as great a guy as you'd want him to be.
oh your real good, calling someone that has adifferent color that name.Your real mature! He's the guy thats the lead singer from Hootie and the blowfish.(DUH)!!!!!!Get a life!
exsues me?? their new.their good!!give them a chance.your just being rude.can you do this all the time.ppl won;t like you.how would that make you feel??
Hell yeah , I remember when these guys were around, a good traditional country band, without alot of controversy around em' like Kenny Chesney or some of this other Krap that's around
without a doubt one of the most underrated bands in country music..... darn shame they aren't around anymore.... I would of loved to of see them live....
Saw them live at the Greek Theater in LA in '95, met them backstage..great show. Kinda dissappointed Raul Malo didn't feel the need for the meet and greet afterward. I guess that's how it is when you are the star of the show.
oh man I forgot how amazing Raul Malo's voice is! LOVE this!
