  • -salvages the original story (or at least the original gods/their motivations) alittle better while still being child-friendly. The new story might be about Hera discovering that Hercules is not her son, feeling that this is the final drop and deciding to release Kronus to get vengeance on all three of the divine brothers. She doesn't really care about what happens to humans. :3

  • I'd love a sequel, actually, where it turns out that everything ISN'T as fancy as it looks; Hades would in fact have taken kind of not-entirely-crappy care of the world(his original plot to take over the earth motivated by how crappily it was done now); Zeus was in fact sleeping around all the time, we just didn't see it in the first movie, and Hera had been tricked by Zeus to believe she was his mother (using the memory-loss river or something) etc. In short, something that-

  • A very interesting video and good use of the song. Funny how they never really mention the whole family thing in the movie ... though they do frequently reference them being brothers in the series.

  • I realize Disney needed to make the story of Hercules "child friendly" but they could've made it more accurate :\ It honestly irritates me to no end how they make Hades, the god cheated of his birth right by Zeus, the jealous lil' bro nobody likes. Hera being all motherly pffff - hell no. If anything it could've made a great movie about how domestic life can be hard, Hera being mean and uncaring, Zeus flirting, Hades being more depressed than angry, and it still couldve been kid friendly :/

  • I rly don't have a problem w/ how they edited Greek mythology. & I know my shiz on Greek stuff. I just... Its entertaining enough, hades being evil I hav no problem w/ I luv hades, villainy (funny villainy) just adds to his cool factor. The only issue i ever was annoyed w/ in Hercules was y there was an evil centaur (r there evil centaurs? Idk)

  • @Maikkacrackshiper13 Yes, there were "evil" centaurs. Nessus himself is the one that ultimately defeats (kinda kills) Hercules after he himself has died. So yeah, Nessus being the rare evil example is actually completely accurate.

  • Hades is 10x the man (god?) Zeus iz! Zeus iz a... Ahem, a jerk. (I luv prince of Egypt. Yay) anyway, I would be bitter to if I was hades. Zeus just rapes ppl. (& don't get me started on HeraDX) anyway. I loved this 5/5. & hades iz awesome. & funny. & has cool hair. Zeus just... Rapes ppl. (Hera is worse. I h8 them both)

  • no one likes the titans they are jerks

  • poor hades is so misunderstood

  • wow, i never realized how it fit so well and the editing wasn't too bad :)

  • this was... RUBBISH

at least dreamworks can make it so the lips move at the same time

anyway wat do u exspect?? this is a Disney film and Dreamworks music

    EPIC FAIL!!!

  • @ThePopmaker dude! chill O.O its just a video

  • @fullmetalcayla315 alright alright just my opinion

i just said it didn't really work

  • This was edited an extremely well way and gives a whole new meaning to both the film and song. Hades is attcking Olympus due to being put through the Hell of the Underworld and because of Zeu's arrogance. Hades is filled with Anger Like Hell Hath No at being hated, when he was, by birth-right, the rightfull king of the gods. You probably didn't intend that, but it works not only on the movie, the the mythological sense too, and I love it.

  • hades part was the best

  • fail

  • its funny. the pharoah from the prince of egypt is ralph feinnes, and in clash of the titans...hades is played by ralph feinnes

  • very well done. perfect song.

  • Okay seriously it wa my own opinion and now I have everyone telling me "it's a kids movie" and all these weird stuff and only just wanted to write a comment. Everyone stop responding to my "I hate how disney(I can't believe I'm saying this) made this movie. It just ticks me off that they blame poor Hades for Hercules fall when really it was Zeus's bitch of a wife Hera who did it. In the movie they make her all lovey dovey. " I know why they made it that why. Leave it alone now

  • LETS GET SOMETHING STRAIGHT U HATERZ : zues was the REEl badguy he went mad with power hades stayed in hell and poisedon stayed in his lair

  • you know they should have givin a part to all the minor gods/goddesses like Erebus or something. I mean sure every once and a while they would show one but they were pretty much in the background the entire time.

  • yep well, my mind just orgasmed.

  • @bubblegumpopprdctns I'd kill him, but hey who can kill the king of the gods?

  • everybody gives hera a bad rap-- FOR GODS SAKE, PEOPLE, ZEUS IS THE ASSHOLE HERE!!!

  • @13pangea The whole Greek pantheon is one big dysfunctional family. The Greeks were the ones who came up with soap operas.

  • love the use of the muses

  • :D TWO OF MY TOP FAVORITE MOVIES OF ALL TIME!!! I LOVE IT!!!

  • I LOVE THIS IT HAS TWO OF MY FAVE THINGS HADES AND THE SONG LET MY PEOPLE GO YOU ROCK!

  • Lol! Good vid! I think it's funny how the songs about god and they r gods..... Maybe Hercules and hades?

  • Awesome love it :) xx

  • People, this is all standard knowledge. Don't repeat a hundred times that Poseidon, Hades and Zeus are brothers. Thank you..

  • good video!! well done!! XOXO

  • I hate how disney(I can't believe I'm saying this) made this movie. It just ticks me off that they blame poor Hades for Hercules fall when really it was Zeus's bitch of a wife Hera who did it. In the movie they make her all lovey dovey.

  • @Vampiresskorina I know! So stupid. Hera needs to go.....away xD

  • @Mizabella1234 I mean I can see how she hates all his mistresses but don't take it out on them and like leave him or something. Like my mom says if she married him she married all his messed up ways.

  • @Vampiresskorina Thats dumb disney for ya

  • @adgthlover9 I know. But disney probably didn't want to explain to children what a lover, mistress or what sex is. hahha

  • @Vampiresskorina Hera (even in the mythology) isn't really a bitch... it is Zeus cheating on her all the time :p She just blames those he cheated with, instead of blaming him.

  • @Vampiresskorina I know right. But this disney! they can't have Hera as the villian. Its stupid, but then again most kids don't even know greek mythology and how Zeus had soo many fricking affairs. so, either way its stupid,

  • @EclipsefanTEAMJACOB Yeah. Most kids would ask why the pretty lady is the evil person!

  • @Vampiresskorina dax alla h tainia proorizetai g paidia opote.......pos 9a eklavo0n to gegonos pos 9a ekn kati tetio h ginaika t ...anerei ola osa xeroun..... min vlepeis t paidia st ellada p t xeroun ayta... (ellinida, etsi? :P)

  • @artemis4866 Ok I'm so sorry but do you speak English? i don't even know what language you're speaking! Can anyone tranlate this???

  • @Vampiresskorina im sorry...its greek with english letters... i mean that the movie it for kids....so kids will not understand why his wife wanted to kill hercules....and disney wanted to make hercules something like fairytale so.....

  • @artemis4866 Yeah! Go for Disney! Haahahhaaha Wow Greek I should have expected that since this is Greek Mythology. hahaa

  • @Vampiresskorina Well to be fair they would not have been allowed to tell the origin myth the way it is in mythology at all. No 1. Zeus technicaly rapes Hercules's mother by pretending to be her husband. No 2. Hercules while training as a youth kills his lyre instructer because he shouted at him.

No 3. Hercules saves a conquered city from paying cattle for the rest of their lives by killing loads of people and the king from the conquering city and then marrying the dead king's wife

  • No 4. He has children by this woman and then is given madness by jelous hera and slays his whole family

No 5. As atonment (and not out of goodness) he has to do 12 labours all of which hera has made with the intention of killing him.

  • Im sorry if thats a bit long winded, but the general point is they couldn't put any of that. It is far to grafic and moraly scary for children. And they probably chose not to use Hera because it would seem very moraly troubling for children from a christian upbringing hearing about infidelity as a good thing. Also the fact that she's a very complicated villan and married to a good guy might cause alot of confusion, I dont think it would be easy to understand across the board

  • Hades is easier to use because his job is very much like that of the christian devil. (in actuality only in refernce to depictions of them both being kings of the underworld, hades isnt a god of evil). By that I can see it being easier to understand

  • @MrWaterlionmonkey I know, I've always hated how Hades is depicted as being evil/demonic, it is true he was the ruler of the underworld, that darkness was his element and he was even known to be really unsympathetic most of the time but he wasn't evil, the only villainous thing I ever recall him doing was when he kidnapped Persephone, Zeus was more of a villain than Hades, he continually punished humanity for stupid things and even withheld the gift of fire (it was Prometheus who gave it to man)

  • @Vampiresskorina But then they'd have to touch upon *why* Hera doesn't like Hercules, and why she's always mad at Zeus - and that just won't do! The (illusion of the) sanctity of marriage must be protected at all costs!

    Unhappy marriage? Perish the thought!

Now, imagine if those two had divorced, or maybe gone to marriage counselling. Then maybe they wouldn't have killed quite so many people with their little spats. Collateral damage is an ugly, ugly word...

  • @Vampiresskorina The movie got "Hijacked by Jesus"

  • @Vampiresskorina And I hate how Don Bluth made Rasputin in Anastasia look like some dark mage. He was just a monk who helped to cure the Zhar's son. It's cartoon making, people! They just take someone unimportant and and make him worse that devil.

  • @Cartoonfangirl007 Well I can see why they made Rasputin like that. The tsar's wife took bad advice on ruling while her husband was helping his army. But hey!-Who knows the Real story?

  • @Cartoonfangirl007 well... he was still a douche :/ even if he did help the Tsar's son.

  • @Vampiresskorina Yes,as a child (A YOUNG Child) This was the first bit of Greek Mythology i got into my system. (Excusing the Greece bits from Tomb Raider 1 back in 96') it wasn't till later the internet was invented and i finally got to it,that i found out how much of a bitch Hera was and how much of a Pimp Zeus was. like...EVERYONE was his wife, daughter, brother, son, sister or whatever.

  • @Vampiresskorina Mostly I agree, but remember that this was a children's movie. They couldn't have Hera hating Hercules without explaining Zeus' infidelity and they couldn't just make Hera the mother because then you touch on the subject of a parent hating their child. They probably felt a plot like that would be harmful, or at least garner a lot of backlash.

  • @Vampiresskorina i agree with you 100 present but you have to remember this move was made for little kids so they cant really do the myth properly even though they fucked it up badley

  • @Vampiresskorina I KNOW RIGHT?! Hera hated EVERY SINGLE FRIGGIN half child (except Hermes) so much that she not only tried to kill them all, BUT also kill the moms... so WHY ON EARTH WOULD THEY TRY TO CHANGE THAT?!

AND DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THE TITANS!!

  • @Vampiresskorina Yeah but in doing so they made one of the Best Villains Ever, who doesnt love Hades in this?

  • @Vampiresskorina just remember that Disney took most of their ideas from legends and old stories, and Greek mythology is too amazing not to take a story from it. The thing is, Greek mythology is DEFINITELY not kid friendly, and Disney is, so they had to make serious changes to it in order to make it family/kid friendly. Hercules isn't the only legend Disney has messed with. It's almost all of the stories, not just this one. ex: Pocahontas, The Little Mermaid, Cinderella, etc.

  • @eutica14 true very true, they better not involve perceus or achillies in their idiotic movies based off legends. if they do imma go all percy vs army or the dead(percy jackson and the olympians last olympian when percy got all indestructable and stuffs)on them!!!

  • @Vampiresskorina yeah and it's stupid because Hera isn't even his mom! Hades is just very misunderstood

  • @Vampiresskorina Ikr! Hera was the real antagonist of the myth. Being a Disney film, they should've done it in a dramatic sense like "The Prince of Egypt" of "The Lion King" having Hera as the jealous sister and wife she actually was, Hades really wasn't a bad olympian at all.

  • @HistoryLover1550 Yeah! Like in the myths, Hades was more of a neutral, if not good, character. They believed that death was not evil, just a part of life. As seen in the Labors of Hercules, Hades was actually pretty helpful, letting Hercules take Cerberus without a big fuss. The only thing he asked was for Hercules to Defeat Cerberus without using weapons. (Which is cute. It's like he didn't want Cerb getting hurt).

  • @VeilBloodClaws If anyone was evil, it was Hera and Kronus (They should have used Kronus as a villain if they wanted to do Greek as a whole, but Hera for this movie as a villlain. It really irritates me to see how evil they portray him. Even in the Percy Jackson series, they portrayed him as chaotic neutral, and that irritated me too.

(Double post because of tiny character limit)

  • @VeilBloodClaws

Then again, it uses the association between death and negativity to create a villain, and sadly not the original myth's villains.

Besides, it's easier to create the underworld/overworld dualism than to explain why Hercules' mother fucked him over.

  • @VeilBloodClaws Your right! Hades gets a bad rep in popular culture too much! I bet Dreamworks could've done better with the story than Disney did. I still love this movie though.

  • @Vampiresskorina ya, well its still a good movie, even if it isnt accurate

  • Makes me wonder why they never brought up the fact that Hades and Zeus are brothers. They only hinted at the relationship through Zeus' interaction with Hades. Hercules is another Lion King story. Brother of the king tries to usurp the throne, but the prince comes in and saves the day in an epic battle against his uncle.

  • I love how with the line "I will never let your "my" people go" it looks like Zeus is correcting him or something..

  • I love the line "and even now I wish that God had sent another ..."

Funny seeing as they are the gods and Zeus is the king of the gods

  • Actually love this, done so well :P

  • When I watched the movie, I wondered where Poseidon was since I know he's one of their brothers.

  • @hannah200010 He was there, but only in the background. He IS somewhat more present in the series though.

  • @Jacieltje Your absolutely correct, Poseidon is probably just tanning on the beach somewhere, with grape fruit and straw, while enjoying the show Brotherly Love.

  • Hades as rameses really fits considering hades was voice by ralph fiennes in the 2010 Clash of the titans

  • btw the reason hades is always mean is cause the only reason hes allowed in Mt. olympus is on the darkest day.(which i forget think its like on a solstice day)

  • @fatchick123456 the winter solstice one of the darker days of the year

  • At 0:51 is it me or is that Encledaus?

  • @fatchick123456 Oh haha I never thought of that. It could also be Typhon.

  • it sounds like there saying snorks when there saying lord

  • Hades was the oldest of the sons of Cronos, Zeus was the youngest. Zeus got king of the god, Hades got ripped off

  • @GreekMythFan7 did you know they made Hades the little brother of Zeus in the Series

  • @slipknotress666 yes I am well aware of that and i don't mind since well it is disney but the greek mythology fan in me is mad about that

  • hates part fits him perfectly i can see him saying it and it actually looks like hes saying it. still one of my favorite videos nice one.

  • Love what you have done with the animation and the song.

  • i wonder how Hades washes his hair.. diao....does a god even needs to wash his hair? O.O

  • @123HellIKnight that is one of life's great mysteries, how the hell does hades wash his hair? Nobody knows for sure, maybe he uses scented oils? :s it's fun coming up with theories though

  • @ponygirl0727 I recall reading, and hearing on a history channel myths program, that HADES was oldest and Zues conned him out of rulership of olympus via a drawing of lots..course, since no ancient greeks are alive anymore to verify once and for all...

  • @ponygirl0727 NO! Hades is the oldest among them three. Zeus became the ruler of the Gods because he tricked Poseidon and Hades. So, Hades had the rights to object but he didn't and chose to live in the underworld with his wife Persephone, daughter of Demeter. >:)

  • @greeeniix14522 Demeter being Hades sister and thus making Persephone not only his wife but also his niece :P Greek mythology is always a hoot :D

  • nice vid man good work

  • That no one thought of this before...

    It's vary good, I like it ^^

  • @ponygirl0727 Time is told by NUMBERS. And it was so you can remember how to spell his NAME. Take an actual greek myth class.

  • @Chaoskairi Actually, Kronos doesn't have the 'h' and because Greek and English don't share the same alphabetical characters it doesn't matter because the transliteration means there are several different ways of spelling his name in different languages.

Although the birth of Kronos does instigate the measurement of time, so the English word does stem from his name.

  • @ponygirl0727 which must suck if he cant die

  • @ponygirl0727 >.> *Chronos. Like Chronoglical order. Like numbers. Like Time.

  • Quite interesting video, but the parts with the muses really doesn't fit the music. The lipsync is good, but it's just wrong that they're so bouncy and cheery considering the theme of the song.

  • @ponygirl0727 sorry i am a TERRIBLE speller

  • 2:15-2:30 best part! ^^

  • Francais:trés bien!

    English:very good!!!!

  • Wait Hades is Moses O.o?

  • Well see : Hades although god of the underworld he was never really evil. Sure, he was cruel but also just. Zeus is more of a bad guy. Hades was a mostly passive god.

  • @EasyWhenYourEvil Not in this movie xd.

  • Maybe it's only me but I prefer far more Hades to Zeus

  • snaakke your dont no anything about greek hades, posiden, zues are all brothers

  • Hades and Zeus aren't brothers Hades and Posiden are brothers

  • @SNAAKKEEE they're all brothers

  • @TheJemRio Not actully Apollon and a bunch of other of them are zeus' kids. Zeus' dad was cronos, Hera is Zeus' sister... And wife O__o

  • @celinesofie yeah, I meant that Zeus, Hades and Poseidon are brothers :)

  • @celinesofie Apollo and Artemis? Apollo the god of the sun, music, medicine, and archers, Artemis the goddess of maidens, hunting, archery and the moon???

  • @cheekybrenn I know, and they are zeus' children according to greek mythology.

  • @celinesofie Just meant Apollo. You said Apollon, lol

  • @cheekybrenn Apollon is how it's called in some languages, same way Demeter is Demetra in some languages, Zeus is Zevs ect... (:

  • @cheekybrenn Yeah... The twin archers/ Me and my twin brother.

  • @SNAAKKEEE No Zeus and Hades are brothers, but truly even Poseidon is brother of zeus and hades

  • @SNAAKKEEE Zeus, Hades and Poseidon are brothers. The Big Three. Their dad was Kronos, who Zeus chopped up and sent to Tartrus (bad spelling sorry)

  • @SNAAKKEEE Hades, Zeus, and Poseidon are all brothers, sons of Cronus the titan. When he became evil or something (I dont know the exact story) they used his own Scimitar and chopped him into a thousand little pieces, throwing him into the pit of Tartarus (dont know the spelling on that), a never ending pit in the Underworld. Then they took over, and Zeus, being the oldest, became the King of the Gods.

  • @Mizabella1234 Kronos had 6 kids. Their mother hid Zeus and handed Kronos a stone instead. Strangely enough, Kronos swallowed that whole after his other five children. Zeus grew up and tricked his father into throwing up his siblings, then they fought each other. The gods cut Kronos up with his own scythe and threw his remains in tartarus. The big three [Zeus Poseidon Hades] drew lots. Zeus got the sky, Poseidon the sea, and Hades the Underworld.

  • @Mizabella1234 It wasn't that he was evil it was that one of teh other titans had a prophecy that one of his kids was going to replace him so like all immortal overlords he tried to protect his throne.....ok you know what i was wrong he was evil to the core

  • Zeus is not a happy god, like somethings apply

  • you get to kill zeus in god of war 3. HOW THE F$@K DO YOU KNOW IT AIN'T COME OUT YET!!!

  • This is interesting I mean it's totally AMAZING! but the mix of culltures is...a little odd ofr me... anyways five stars =D

  • zeus and hades are brothers so it fits

  • God of War 3 is way much better. (You get to kill Zeus)

  • I'm really amused by the song based on a bibical story being used for a video about greek gods. it's perfect!!

  • AWESOMENESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • nice very very nice

  • this is awesome xD

  • i LOVED this!!! Both Hercules and The Prince of Egypt are awesome movies!!! and i love Rameses' (SP?) part of the song. I love his voice! =D

  • @sesshylover6 i love the song from the movie prince of epypt its a great movie!

  • This song and the film it came from are so powerful, with some of the best performances in recent history from Ralph Fiennes, Patrick Stewart, Val Kilmer and Danny Glover (though Pfeiffer and and Bullock weren't bad either)

As for your video, good choice of clips for the most part, but the part with the muses was a little... off for me. It's a good video, but it started strong and just sort of weaned for me with those clips of the muses.

  • OMG I freak everytime I hear Rameses' solo, I love how Ralph Fiennes (Is that how you spell it, it's so difficult. lol) sounds in The Prince of Egypt. I think this is a good video, I don't know much about Greek mythology and all that, but I did know that Hades and Zeus were brothers, so that makes this video all the more perfect. Hahah! :D

  • i loove this song 8D

  • @thedude23isroblox

You see most people assume that children havent got an indeapth knowledge of greek mythology. there are a few children in this world who dont go to bed with a coppy of the Iliad or Odyssey and who arent aware of the ins and outs of the greek Pantheon.

This being said, it is a cracker of a movie and at least they allude to the twelve trails.

  • hey, i understand that. movie is interesting. i was just expecting more, and expressing my opinion on the movie hurcules. sorry for the misunderstanding

  • JUST SHUT UP AND ENJOY THE VID! GOD!

  • hmmm, just rating the movie cause one of my friends had to watch this in a 6th grade class, i understand some childeren know nothing about greek myhtology. movie is interesting... i was just expecting more thats all

  • this is pretty awesome considering the fact Zeus and Hades are truly brothers in Greek mythology too!

  • @grievousluver15 Yeah! The funny part was something about God...:) I mean, they ARE gods:) But I love it:)

  • @grievousluver15 They're brothers in the movie too though their roles are kind of reversed, in the myths Zeus was the younger brother while Hades was the younger brother in the movie.

  • @CrazyGamerDragon64 Yeah thanks for pointing that out cuz it is true lol! Regardless, this is still an awesome Disney movie :)

  • @grievousluver15 yeah and still the younger brother (asumming Hades) is in exile like in the bible story.

  • @mathewmallon Hades is actually the older brother, although they don't show it very well in the movie. I thought he was youngest until I took a mythology class. Since Hades was the oldest, he was supposed to have Zeus' job as the king of the gods, but Hades ended up drawing the short straw and gettting the Underworld. That's why he hates his brother so much.

  • @grievousluver15 and Hades is older than Zeus like in the movie moses is younger than the other guy that i forgot the name but anyways yah just putting that out there too.

  • @shane18475 ramises (not sure of spelling) is the eldest and true son of the pharoh

  • Comment removed

  • Now THERE'S an idea...

  • that was incredible!!!!!

  • I watched the movie the prince of Eygpt. I luv that song!

  • good idea

  • great job man. love this video

  • P.S.- the 'I send my scourge- I send my sword- thus saith the lord- you who I call brother- why must you call down another blow?- I send my scourge- I send my sword- thus saith the lord- Let my people go!' 1:28 - 1:45 was good. And also 1:49- to the end was amazing- great use of Hades clips.

  • This kinda makes me laugh since he's complaining about what god has done and he is god in the movie... lol

  • does anyone know who sings this?

  • Song is from the movie Prince of Egypt (1998) Look it up. Same movie with the song "When you believe" by Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston.

  • moases XD

  • awesome work ^^

  • O.o ...that just made me relise hercukles , lion king n' prince of egypt all have the same plot. 1brothers king, the other inslaves there ppl (in moses its kinda the other way round cuz the 1 whos king enslaves them) then the other 1 gets angry n' demants everythin bak (lmao not in lion king cuz mufassa died...but simber comes bak n' dose the demanding) its soo clever that wid lil twist u dont really relise. ^_^ n' there all in my top 5 how lame am i

  • that was done well, even though the stories were different....I liked it. Good job

  • yaaaaay!!! I love Prince of Egypt!! :D

  • This is a very interesting vid. its fits well but the roles are just a little sckewed. Zesus as Moses and yet he is the 'lord' in greek myth.

Besides that, I liked it a lot. Scenes and lyrics are very much in synch. The list in the beginning for example.

Also, using the Muses to narrate the story was a good idea.

  • Moses was the Biblical character that was found in a basket in the Nile River by the daughter of Pharoh. He was the adopted brother of Ramses, son of Pharoh. Ramses took the throne after his father died. Moses and his brother became enemies because Ramses would not let the Hebrews, Moses' people, free. This song was played on a movie when the plagues were upon Egypt.

  • HOLY POO!!!!! You did a great job on that!!! I never really thought of Hades and Zeus like that till now. wow I'm still amazed by that! haha again good job!

  • lol holy poo! cool vid

  • moses was the kind younger brother ramesis was the evil pharoh who got stranded on a cliff till he died
