very well stated and i am for illegal guns being banned. i am pro gun but am against gun violence, and i think there should be laws that are in place to do the best to prevent gun violence. the only problem is, guns will never cease. england has tried it, and the gun violence went down, but the only people who have guns are the people who illegally smuggle them in and use them. so, now in england, the problem is that since gun violence has increased, people are unarmed against gangs.

Well if they get what they want then I guess we need to ban or limit the use of cars now to prevent deaths from drunk driving. The whole ideology behind it is wrong, it's attacking the problem the wrong way. Lack of knowledge and understanding cause fear, and those not familiar with it at all will immidiately think that guns are the problem. Why don't we start teaching the kids about guns? How to use them safely, what is appropriate conduct around them, and, finally, the consequences of improper use. The problem with ignorance is that it breeds fear. Put more cops on the street, increase the number of CPL's issued to law abiding citizens, and stop crime in the ways that work. Stop blaming the instrument. The laws won't stop illegal activity. Just like drugs, all the laws in the world don't stop them from showing up.

This isn't about controlling guns, it's about updating the laws that prevent illegal guns from getting into the hands of convicted felons. Most of the black market guns get bought by people who can't buy them legally but if they could trace those guns it would help stop the shootings those people commit.

They then sell the handguns to someone who could not otherwise get it (someone with a criminal record or someone too young to buy). This is called a straw purchase. Limiting these traffickers to one handgun per month greatly decreases the amount of guns they can sell in the street. Closing this loop hole is one thing we CAN do as adults. In PA private handgun transfers have to be done at an FFL or sheriffs office. Selling a handgun face to face is already illegal. There is no loophole. Just enforce existing laws.
