  • Music OK.... video nay!

  • Excellent

  • What a brilliant melding of so many things! The aristocrats out in the fields, playing their music amongst the farmers and their sheep. And the zooming in of the majestic countryside, with the backdrop of the ancient homes. One of the most English songs there is, blended with the other things so very representative of England! Very very moving, and just stunning!

  • PERFECT MUSIC

  • I LOVE this song.. but the vid totally blows :p give me a scene from the middle ages or something lol <3

  • What is it with the sheep. Greensleeves, a story of a failed romance. Sheep?

  • @danldunham They must have made sheep the new symbol for failed romance, then. XD

  • beautiful melody

  • @MrAstatula I still feel stressed listening to it although I graduated from college and left Hong Kong about 2 years ago.

Though it's undeniable that this song is beautifully written because I was always distracted away by this song while I was in the exam. To be honest, I used to hate this song quite much lol XDD

  • @MrAstatula This song is played every time before the English listening exam starts in Hong Kong. During the time this song is played we are supposed to read the questions and prepare ourselves. Therefore, this song reminds me of the time I was desperately struggling with public exams and those stressful days where I was practicing with past papers and all that. I can say... The Hong Kong examination system has ruined not only this song but many students' school life.

  • @charlieucc but why Greensleeves of ALL songs??

  • Absolutely Beautiful!!!!!!!

  • my music teacher tought me how to play renaissance muic on a recorder

didn't know you could do that with that instrument

  • c'mon UK !!!

  • It's UK's real spirit!!

  • 1:50 Adam Sandler

  • These musicians are multiplying like rabbits! First there is one bloke in a tux then a whole bloody orchestra.

The sheep look pretty pleased though.

  • So beautiful, I get goosebumps when I hear this.

  • Of all the places they could have walked the shepherds of course chose to walk right in front of the musicians! And not only once but several times! ;)

  • I've always loved this song eversince I heard it play from this musical jewellery box when I was little :) I feel so many emotions from hearing this song!

  • for download midi:

Search in google "fichero midi greensleeves david nevue taringa" ---> First link

  • I was fully appreciating the beauty of the music, and then I started cracking up when the euphonium solo came. Who saw that coming?

  • Please, can somebody share the link for download this song?

  • Im 11, and i love the beauty of this song! The melody is just amaing everytime i sing this one of my friends say "Oh stop singing that! Its such a stupis song!" I think thats ridiculous, and my other friend gets me. She thinks is beautiful too ;)

  • Best & most beautiful rendition of Greensleeves that I have been looking for. To sing along with the words of Home in the Meadow from the old movie How The West Was Won, sung by Debbie Reynolds. Breathe taking!!! Those are sheep not goats & they add an Irish touch to the music.

  • Wow..beautiful landscape,wonderful instrument sounds..but i dont like the goats :P

The music is like an angelical sound from the heaven...I wish I were there under the blue sky and feel the wind with my beloved, sadly she is far away from me.

  • its all those vile unwashed medieval garments with their "green" sleeves

  • so glad i was raised on this music since i was like 2 absolutely cant go wrong with classical its a beautiful style of music that will never die

  • I just don't get it why anyone would dislike this? =( This song almost brings me to tears and I am a Man.

  • gracias es exelente mil y mil gracias

  • thats why violin is so beautiful!

  • 0:07 - 0:10 Does that sound like "Sallys song" from The Nightmare Before Christmas to anyone else?

  • Ahhh! The Euphonium was in perfect pitch.

  • Beautiful.

The best of what we humans aspire to.

  • Me epic battle scene.

    -slow motion-

Elves, charging at war, going to fight the orks. Sprinting, they run to battle, in a rush, weapons raised, ready to strike. You can see the tension, fear, and determination on all of their faces. Full battle gear on. Swords. Arrows. Everything, ready to strike. They run, Jump, and about the strike. When they are about to hit, the scene cuts. =3

  • @gdudea then emerald sword

  • @gdudea That's cool, but what the hell does that have to do with Greensleeves?

  • @gdudea No offense but that is every trailer these days -.-

  • @miles305678 Well that or guys running around cities with dress suits and handguns... modern writers=uncreative :(

  • @gdudea and u get disconnected from server :P

  • @gdudea dude wtf is wrong with you

  • @BambridgeBardsDavid What's your problem? He just wrote what he imagined when he hears the song. Much more productive than your comment.

  • one note is wrong, it fucked my ears. if u like it i could not agree.

  • It sounds great :)

  • Fucking goats. awesome shit.

  • This is the worse video ever made for Greensleeves.... lol

  • the euphonium player's fingers in the video do not match his notes at all lol

  • @xesecasper8 Für Elise?

  • esta si es musicaa

  • concentrate on the beautiful music n not on the sheep.

  • such a beautiful love song, best illustrate my mood now, so heart-broken.

  • wow. this is amazing.

  • The poor dog seems so confused. Like, 'why in the world are we going in circles?' LOL.

  • it's a beautiful song...

but being a hong kong student, i feel stress listening to it....

i think the majority of hong kong students would understand it.... X

  • @charlieucc

    listening 一定播呢首歌

  • Música dos anjos......muito bela.

  • it music is relaxed

  • i really like it at school we danced to it because were learning about the tudors

  • Simplemente... Hermosa :).

  • very nice....

  • El mejor tema , nose como puede exitir un musico tan grande para crear esta melodia

  • Esta melodía debería durar mucho más... se me hace muy fugaz para lo grandiosa que es.

  • 落ち着く^^

  • i love this song and its extremly beautifull. now one more thing. any one else see the about 37 or 38 seconds in you can see one of the harp tuning pegs move...on its own lol

  • I cried everytime I listen to this song, it's so sad

  • awesome

  • Such a beautiful piece of music. Is it true that it was written by King Henry VIII?

  • @Cheryl1166 There is a persistent belief that Greensleeves was composed by Henry VIII for his lover and future queen consort Anne Boleyn. Anne rejected Henry's attempts to seduce her and this rejection is apparently referred to in the song, when the writer's love "cast me off discourteously." However, Henry did not compose "Greensleeves", which is probably Elizabethan in origin and is based on an Italian style of composition that did not reach England until after his death

  • Yes.

  • Yes.

  • Yes.

  • YEAH! Baritone solo!!! 1:47

  • Best version. Could use a vocal perhaps. Andre da man.

  • Oh my god IT'S AMAZING! When i was i middle school at 3rd year i've played it with flute..and a lot of people cry for the emoticon

  • I like the guy standing in the back with his tuba at 1:38, shoulve gotten a solo...

  • @NailBunny502 Looks a little like adam sandler.

  • If you listen closely you can actually hear the clanking sound of the bells worn by those goats/sheep.

So, I guess they do play a part in this orchestra. Hence deserve to be in the video. LOL

  • im in love with this song it sorta sounds sad but its beautiful. my orchastra teacher should have us play that i might cry if i dont.

    -Sunny

  • @SunnyKaProductions it does, the lyrics are sad and beautiful also, if you google them. It is a love song about a broken heart

  • what a great song of the past...

  • I wasent expecting that euphonium solo at 1:50

  • It''s so pretty

  • I can play this on LOTRO. K'Bye.

  • Best of national song from the era Henry VIII: I hear it with pleasure! Thanks

  • @macimacs Henry? You say Henry? You mean Henry that Anglophone wife beating beotch with his little tights and man boobs? THE Henry? Okay. Cool.

  • The old English soul

  • I'ts wonderful song!

I'm from Hungary with my nation songs! I like and love the british, scottish and irish national songs!

... Rene Rieu's version is perfect. But i like another versions same.

  • every thing sounds better on the viola

  • @bulldog01209 but everything sounds even better on the trombone :)

  • Adam Sandler plays a mean horn.

  • @TDragonus (it's an Eufonium)

  • reminds you of the days when knights were knights? what a crock of sh1te!

  • @ianmartin2008 i think he means though, when people respected other people a lot more, and helped others etc. unlike most of the people of today.

  • Andre does a beautiful job on his strad. The original work was published in 1580 with the lyrics. Some attribute it to King Henry the 8th. as for the title "What child is this" it does not belong. It is the churches attempt to steal it and rewrite the lyrics to suit themselves

  • 感謝分享 讓我回到美好的兒時回憶

  • i couldnt help but laugh like hell when theres a guy playing the best song in the world RANDOMLY surrounded by sheep

    haha

  • wunderschön :-)

  • *-* ♥

  • Va?

  • Wonderful :)

  • is it me or the tuba player looks a little bit like adam sendler?

  • @yokab not a tuba...but yes he also reminds me of adam sandler

  • a chile por favor ven a tocar se necesita alguien como usted

    muy bello muy hermoso.

  • truly beatiful

  • funny the sheep listening this song on violin might be thinking: shall we be taken to the sloughter house?

  • I love it! I can't stop play and hear it on violin! It's beautiful.

  • Thank you for the upload! I love this song played on violin X.X

  • He's so good and so magnetic even the sheep don;t won't to leave him!

  • Great version!'love this song

  • I doubt very much that a murdering tyrant like Henry the 8th wrote this beautiful song.

  • this version is the best so far

  • Truly one of the most perfect pieces of music ever composed.

  • The themesong for my life.

  • I agree.

  • Henry Viii wrote the lyrics they so beautiful

  • dont know who did the music but the lyrics were a love sonnet by Henry IIIV

  • ANDRE IS A TURD ON THE MUSICAL MAP.

But... this is a beautiful piece of music. :)

  • wow n1 version of this song

  • The boys in my grade have to sing this song is a proformance thing. i like the song a little though.

  • it's amazing

  • o-nee-chan! khana-chan! i miss u badly... wish i could see you, if not in this lifetime, in eternity after life...

  • This seems much more Regency than middle ages, really. I have no idea, though. Nice song.

  • Those sheeps were out of place.

  • @fansdesofia I think HE looks more out of place if anything.. unless, of course, that was the joke. In which case I've made a bit of an arse of myself.

  • @Vault101Reject You are right, he is the one who is out of place, hehe.

  • @fansdesofia this entire video was out of place...

  • @fansdesofia I think the sheep were perfect. The lyrics of the song tell about the birth of Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world, the Good Shepherd who would lay down His life for His sheep.......the sheep are perfect for this song if you look beyond the surface.

  • @Shebadog2003 Actually, the lyrics tell about Henry VIII wanting to bang a woman that is not his wife. He succedded.

  • @fansdesofia the lyrics you are referring to are invented by the church. It is a beautiful melody and I dont blame the for rewriting it but make no mistake the original lyrics were written in 1580 and has nothing to do with the church at all

  • @Shebadog2003 Actually, this song was written by King Henry VIII for Anne Boleyn, Elizabeth I's mother.

  • @wallflower80

Wikipedia thinks otherwise. It claims that this is a common misconception, and that this Italian-style based music did not arrive in England until after King Henry VIII's death.

  • @HighWarlordClorth That may be said by wiki, but you have to remember wiki isn't considered a sufficient source for research. Wikipedia can be edited by anyone.

  • @wallflower80 Yes, Wikipedia may be edited by anyone, but every change is checked. Furthermore a great majority of the data on Wikipedia references external sources - and the part HighWarlord is no exception.

  • @fansdesofia It's sheep not sheeps

  • @1AwesomeKiwi no its sheeps!

  • @L4Isoside It's fucking sheep, google it. I'm from New Zealand, which is mostly farms, so I think I'd know.

  • @1AwesomeKiwi Do you fuck alot of sheep in New Zealand?

  • @L4Isoside No we don't all live on fucking farms faggot, I live in shitty vineyard country anyway. And there is still vagina in nz so we tend to stick to that, except for those lonely weekends but you can understand that

  • @1AwesomeKiwi I didnt say you live on a farm. Dont be so aggressive, it was a joke :P

  • @L4Isoside So was mine. It's the internet, I used swear words to show annoyance

  • @fansdesofia Thoes are goats. LOL

  • @fansdesofia Long time ago I realise but the plural of Sheep is Sheep.

  • @fansdesofia the goats are not out of place, the people playing the music are....

  • Actually that is a flock of sheep.

  • @MrBigEnchilada Those aren't goats those are sheep.

  • Me encanta!!!!Una musica preciosa, sobre todo(para mi)tocado con violin.Canciones como estas hacen que me guste la musica clasica.

  • hello

  • Why's everyone going on about knights and stuff??? It was an old piece of manuscript found lol.. tht's all..

Nothing says it's from medeval times.. Probs from pre-medi

  • I think it's because of the sound of the music. It sounds like it belongs with castles and knights, kind of.

  • It reminds me about days when the knights were knights and dignity was dignity...............

  • LOLOCAUST!

  • @Actavist no

  • @bucurdragos and when people pooped on the streets

  • @bucurdragos

Don't let the peaceful music fool you, those times were far from simpler than now: it was far more barbaric, appendicitis in a 6 year old girl meant an incurable horrible death as she writhed in agony in front of her hapless parents. Infection equaled death etc.

Terrible times. Good music though. Far superior than that computer-aided hip-hop gibberish.

  • @bucurdragos Ai dreptate.. ce frumos era...

  • @bucurdragos YOU WEREN'T ALIVE THEN, YOU KNOW NAUGHT OF THOSE DAYS

  • @attackthem5 It doesn't matter I CAN READ. In my country they still teach history you know........................

  • @bucurdragos They do in my country, too.

But you cannot be reminded of something YOU HAVEN'T EXPERIENCED.

  • @bucurdragos

but they obviously don't teach rhetorics :DDD

and even less they seem to teach social competences ^^

  • @M4n1Ch0 I am not living in frigging ancient Greece ....and we do know what common sense is..........

  • @bucurdragos u must truly be a retard writing something as stupid as that.

  • @rytmen and you a low scumbag posting nonsense commentaries ...up yours!

  • @bucurdragos Yeah, those days when tautologies were tautologies.
