My God how muchhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I Love her! This dramatic beauty this personality. offff. wowwwwwww Long liveeeeeee. If I say im her biggest fan i might be right.
Cleopatra has been mistreated by history.. she emerged as a traitor obscene woman, while she was a true national. She lived the suffering among her only love and her patriotism. And preferred death to capture or to be without her only true love.
cLEOPATRA WAS NOT AFRICAN!!! SHE WAS GREEK MACEDONIAN!!! i AM so sick of the seductress crap. I don't think she was like this at all. I think she was the opposite, so involved in her trying to save her beloved country from total demise and so extremely intelligent that men had to have her because she was so smart and so powerful. It was not all about sex with her, every true Goddess knows that one and works it. It's the hunt, its what men can't have that they really want!!!
@josephnicholasgallan She was circumcized...all women were...that doesn't mean they can't have children, it just means that sexual pleasure is pretty much for the men and not the women. Even today in Egypt maybe 95 percent of the women are circumcized...this is done in large parts of Africa and the Middle East and Asia to control women's sexuality. Google female genital mutilation if you want to know about it.
@wakeup6661 Where do you get this information? Can you cite any historial reference about this? This Cleopatra belonged to a very different world from us. She is also believed to have been Macedonian or Greek in origin, where female mulation was not the norm.
@wakeup6661 Maybe she wasn't circumcized like most Egyptian women were/are. But circumcision takes away a woman's pleasure because they cut the sensitive clitoris off...often they also cut all the lips and sew everything together so only a small holes remains which can cause infections, problems in childbirth, and painful sex. Women can still have sex and have babies depending on the damage of the circumcision. Sex and childbirth is very painful if they were cut and sewn up. Google FGM
@wakeup6661 Wrong circumcision has been done on the African continent since the dawn of time. Its ritual done for the changes in the earth over time cycles. Africans knew the time cycle of the universe affect the earth nature and humanity. The woman is specifically affect by changes in the earth as well men. The western world has always seen African through its lenses and world view. That has never work for whites to explain Africans and our worldview perspective and consciousness for us.
@josephnicholasgallan Circumcision was done to women in Egypt for thousands of years. I'm fairly sure it was done to her...I'll look for the information. Women are still being circumcised in Egypt even though now the the law says it's illegal. Circumcised women can still have children, they just probably can't have an orgasm. This was done to keep them from cheating. Yes Cleopatra was very intelligent and men were attracted to her for her intelligence and power, not her beauty.
@wakeup6661 Well some say she was circumcized others say she wasn't. What is true is that most women in Egypt were circumcized meaning at least their clitorises were cut off to keep them from having sexual feelings. Many African women have all the lips cut clitoris removed and sewed up to a small hole causing illness, infections, sometimes death, painful sex, difficult births. Many African women coming to the US have had this done. Look up female genital mutilation.
Anyone actually see a relief of what Cleopatra looked like on the coins from her reign? Girlfriend was not that pretty,..hooked nose and a sunken chin,..BUT to her credit,..incredibly intelligent, cunning, witty, spoke many languages, and could spar verbally with any politician or diplomat. She seduced with her mind. Take note, ladies!
@spaciousgalaxy She was highly intelligent and captivated men with her charm personality and intelligence. Western society well we have to always make the women look gorgeous.
@venetiancat actually, I would say she was the best version of Cleopatra. The real Cleopatra was, aside from dark-skinned and dark-eyed, like Leonor, also possibly very young and quite inexperienced when she finally got to the throne, and was very much patriotic and ambitious, not just hungry for power, like most films portrayed her.
Next, you guys will say the Queen of Sheba was dutch. Cleopatra was a black queen as was the queen of sheba. Black women are exceptionally beautiful. Get over your media hype ideas of beauty. stop being so ignorant.

hi. I have a question. is there a difference in the running time of the VHS version of "Cleopatra" (1999) and the DVD version? Because the VHS runs 139 minutes, whereas I read that the running time on the DVD is 177 minutes. is that really so, and if so, can you please tell me what's the difference between the VHS and DVD?
There are a few scenes/lines in the trailer that are not included on the VHS version of the film.
Leonor Varela is way more beatiful the Elizabeth Taylor. In one scene of Elizabeth Taylor's Cleopatra, Elizabeth Taylor's stomach was so saggy & unfirm! On her way to being fat already. You should see Leonor in a bikini! Besides being an actress, she is also a stunning Chilean-French model. And she makes a way better Cleopatra then Elizabeth Taylor. Taylor makes a stupid face, like she's forcing herself to be sexy, while Leonor has that natural sexiness.
@MrsSupermom26, sorry but the whole value of her character is being not seductive but a calculative master of controlling other people. At that Taylor is a more deep actress in this case. I see this Cleopatra version as bringing out the sexyness & seduction that the original character in 1963 did not, that is all.
Cleopatra was actually Macedonian - aka Greek. She definatley would be paler. But scew historical accuracies, this video was so sexy :) maybe she got a tan?
@650Pisces Cleopatra wasn't actually Egyptian. The Ptolomies were Macedonian and didn't mix with the native population. They adopted the Egyptian practice of marrying within their own famliy. Remember, Cleopatra's first husband was her brother.
thats prolly more how she looked, greek and african/eyptian, not a pastey white wm (liz taylor). the movie above was really good, saw it yrs ago. Angelina jolie is going to play the new cleopatra(dont know how to feel about that)
@krazykoko10 Wrong! Cleopatra was Greek descendant from the Ptolemiac Dynasty, the founding members are direct bloodline from one of the generals of Alexander the Great. Remember, only royals can rank to Generals then. They're from Macedonia. Cleopatra would look like many Greeks today, esp. when during Ptolemiac dynasty, the Pharaohs of Greek blood marries mostly their sisters to keep the family line untainted. I have yet to see a Hollywood movie represent her actual features.
@citizenlen a marriage between brothers and sisters in ancient egypt didn't necessarily mean sex and children but it was a part of a royal ancient egyptian tradition going further back than Alexander the Great.
@krazykoko10 Read up on Ptolemy I, rumor has it he may be Alexander's half-illegitimate brother If true, then Cleopatra has a direct lineage with Alexander the Great. So, she is supposed to be pale, unless she like to get tanned. which in those days were never popular. The Egyptian sun would scorched her.
The debate is never over. Arsinoe was found in about 1920. They found she was mixed race, but there's good evidence that Arsinoe and Cleopatra had different mothers. We can figure she's mixed racial, they know Arsinoe's decent, but don't know exactly what decent Cleopatra was because they haven't found surviving documents varifying who Cleopatra's mother was to identify what race. So the search continues...
I hate to bring bad news to everyone, but Arsinoe IV's tomb was found in turkey & Archeologist and forensic scientist studied her remains and found that she was of mixed race, which unequivocally means Cleopatra was bi-racial.
Check out the National Geographic Channel's Egypt Unwrapped series for details.
I am always a open minded person who likes too look at both sides a argment. Now this is definatly a posibility but.... Arsinoe IV was only Cleopatra's HALF sister. If the remains found in the tomb where hers she may have been from Ptolemy XII a greek and a Egyptian mother or Kushite mother. Cleopatra has a diferent mother. Now it is also a posibility that the race mixing may have happened genarations before Cleopatra but it is not certain she was of mixed race only a posiblity.
I'll agree with that, but the fact remains that Cleopatra's mother isn't listen in the Ptolemy's bloodline. So it's still possible that she was of mixed origin. The point is the bigots seem to have a stake in her being white, which is silly, but arguing with them is fun.
& thanks for pointing that out.
& if you're looking for a good book to read pick up Michael Grant's "The Twelve Caesers."
Yes there are bigots out there, but there are also a TON of afrocentrists who seem to want to label everyone from Egypt to the middle east as black. Having dark or tan skin does not make you black. What's funnier? Cleopatra was even painted, sculpted, drawn, and described in writing by people at the time as being quite pale. Is there a chance that she had mixed ancestry? Of course, there's that chance with just about anyone, but what we know of her ancestry was European.
I think you'll actually find a very large number of black people have stake in the idea that Cleopatra was black. Hell, I've even heard black women say that Cleopatra had to have been black because a white woman could never have been that dominant and strong. Were there black Egyptians? Yes, were all Egyptians black? Certainly not, most weren't. Her family was of Greek descent and that was visible in the artwork made of her at the time. Marc Antony even described her as being very pale.
As I have said take it up with master curator of Egypt, Zahi Hawass, secretary general of Egypt's Supreme Council of Antiquities. The man who gave obama the tour of the tombs.
And? My mother is Spanish born in Lebanon and my father is Arabic /Perisan Egyptian/Iranian. I teach TESL in Cairo. As I stated before "EGYPTIAN people were of African and Arab descent amongst other things" Okay. COLI(Farsi) ASSHOLE (English) PENDEJO (spanish) and as we like to say here in Cairo KOOS OTHEK.! Ask Mr. Hawass what that means.
"You're completely unspoiled by failure." by Noel Coward. Nice quote. I've got one. "Stop drinking the Kool-Aid" Origins unkown. Assuming it's an American reference to the Jim Jones mass suicide. Relevant and funny. Now off to bed I go.
Egyptians were not negroid, they were not Arabian, they were a Caucasian race. Nefertiti and Cleopatra were Caucasian. For 75 yrs Nubians did rule Egypt, then they went back to Areas around lower Sudan. But that was after Nefertiti. Now Cleopatra was Caucasian, a direct descendant of Ptolemy, Alexander the Great's General, Greek Macedonian, they only married Greek Macedonians.
Cleapatra was a direct decendant of Macedonians. Because of incest and intermarraying she did not share the same blood line of the people she ruled but ture EGYPTIAN people were of African and Arab descent amongst other things.
Eygptians where Green Aliens! That's how the pyramids where built! Really who gives a fuck what color they are! Who cares if Jesus was Black or White! Thats wrong you fucking people man! What you are on the inside and guess what we all Bleed RED!
WTF? Who cares black white yello! Fuck we all came from the same place at one time. I don't what God you believe in or if you believe in none. It's not like a million of use just popped on this planet at once! Even if we did like say from a Fucking Space ship then we all been the same! Thats wrong with this everybody worrys about fucking color! I am Purple, with little Oragne Mother fuckers!
This is my point. People identify primarily with who is in power at the time. When Egypt was a superpower over three thousand years ago it had its own distinct identity. Since then it has been ruled by foreigners namely. Greco-Macedonians, Persians, Romans, Byzantines and lastly Arabs. None of which are indigenous Egyptians. Nowadays, you have all kinds people calling themselves Spanish when it was only the Spaniards imposing their language, culture and religion on them only 500 years ago.
You're right but Sinai is a part of both Asia and Egypt. It is reality. I am not so silly to speak about your intelligence because I do mistakes too.But never I speak about someone's intelligence when it is me, who is wrong. I do not like to admit I do mistakes but I admit it sometimes. When you pass Suez Canal in Suez to Port Tawfiq it is always journey from Africa to Asia without crossing state border of Egypt. Egypt is also right of the Red Sea (it's Suez bay). and this is my last statement.
Egypt is a part of Middle East. Because Sinai is Middle Eastern and it is a part of Egypt. The same is that Turkey is not all situated in Europe. Ask before you will make any statement not to be false! RPA
I am sorry but it seems you cannot read at all. Egypt is both in Africa and Asia. I am sorry but this could be said to you on every Egyptian embassy again and again! RPA
They weren't Arab back then, as a matter of fact, Arab origins stem from the middle east which Egypt isn't a middle eastern state it's an African state. Just because Egypt was invaded by europeans later on doesn't mean that Egypt all of the sudden lost it Afrocentrism.
You're swimming a fine line between having a point and being a complete moron. Egypt is a grey area, while it belongs, mostly, to the continent of Africa, it has historically associated more with Mesopotamia, Syria, and Lebanon than had more cultural exchange with them than true African states. From the pre-dynastic Naqada II culture Egypt traded and began to expand heavily eastward, favouring the middle east and reaching almost as far as Anatolia. Egypt can hardly be called 'Afrocentric'.
"Egypt can hardly be called Afrocentric" And you're saying I sound like a complete moron. Have you ever looked at Ancient Egyptian Hieroglyphs and art. The people were black deal with it! They had wide noses and thick lips and dark skin plus Egypt is part of the African continent...yep that's pretty Afrocentric to me.
Go look up Afrocentric in a dictionary. Heiroglyphs do not depict Black people in Egypt, have you ever noticed how Indians have dark skin but AREN'T BLACK? How about any number of other races who are a deep brown in colour but NOT BLACK? The facial features of the people in Egyptian painting are NOT consistent with black africans, neither is the skin colour they are painted with for that matter. Egyptians were their own race, and they associated more with Mesopotamia, Lebanon and Syria. Moron.
You must be blind as a bat then because the Hieroglyphs and the Statues are consistent with black features, and yes the skin color is also consistent since there are different shades of black people all thru out Africa. Just look at the depictions of Akhenaten and Neferteti. "Thick lips and Dark skin!" They were black. What you have in Egypt today is a result of race mixing. What you have in East Africa and the Middle East today is the result of Blacks, Whites and Asians inbreeding. Get a clue.
But Ancient Egyptian feature are consistant with Ethopian and Somalian features. And these people are AFRICAN! You are getting confused with West African features and East African features which are distinctly different.
Cleopatra was white. Her ancestors came from Greece. Her family married themselves - thus keeping the bloodline pure. She was by some accounts even blonde. She was definitely not dark-skinned.
And how do you know? Were you there?...I didn't think so.
Plus, if you bothered to research Cleopatra VII bloodline you'd see that Cleopatra's mother isn't listed. So no one knows who her mother was and since ancient Egypt was a black nation it's easy to assume she could have been part black.
And what about the Ottoman Greeks, were they all white considering people of Greek descent are of an olive complexion.
Racism isn't cool dude. Every culture contributed to the world we live in.
BTW, she wasn't even of native Egyptian origins. Since Ptolemaics were so fond of inbreeding to maintain their bloodlines that would likely not only make her 100% white, but also having suffered from some kind of genetic diseases brought on by in-breeding.
i also have to say that there is some truth in myth, when they said she was ugly, it was prolly cause she didnt have egyptian features. apart from that, even if she was ugly, there is no way anyone would have stood up in front of the queen or wrote on a papyrus that she was ugly. no one would have dared to insult the queen that she was ugly.
No, she was not ugly. We have images in the form of portrait statue busts of her in museums. Look her up in wikipedia. Two Roman historians, Plutarch and Tacitus say she was physically average but her poise and demenor was elegant and her voice was beautiful. One Roman historian, Cassius Dio, said in fact she was very beautiful. Anyway both Caesar and Anthony thought she was beautiful ... they were so rich and powerful they could have had any woman, but they wanted Cleopatra!
buddmar, u said it urself that plutarch and tacitus stated that she was average, which is not a nice compliment for a queen in those days. a queen was always praised. anyway, i dont trust wiki, its not a reliable source, no offence. i believe men wanted her because she was ambitious and powerful and she reigned over a prosperous land that was rich in slaves and had what was considered the most important in egypt, the nile river. roman men at that time were very ambitious, power was everything.
On the other hand the Roman Historian Cassius Dio stated that Cleo was in fact very beautiful. In truth, none of them ever met her. The fact is, to the Romans she was the enemy! They portrayed her in unflattering terms. The discovery of old Coptic Egyptian documents give us a clue that even after several generations Cleo was very highly regarded by her people. May I suggest the superb biography "Cleopatra" by British historian Lucy Hughes-Hallett?
thanks for suggesting the book. i will check it out! i hope my comments never offended u, they werent meant to...but i had fun discussing this with u and thanks for being polite and very intellectual. bye buddmar
No offense taken! You are a wonderful person! We both yearn to learn more about this extraordinary lady, but she's been dead for 2,000 and there are many things we will never know about her. We must never forget that Cleopatra was a brilliant stateswoman and politician who elevated her country from a crumbling weak and decadent kingdom to a great empire in a matter of a few years. She was playing a very risky game and she knew it. She is now one of the most famous women in history.
not to argue with u xizora, but cleopatra was exactly macedonian. and she was very fair. according to many, she wasnt even that beautiful. nefertiti was really the true queen of egypt and she was very beautiful. we have her head statue to prove it.
so? we have statues of cleopatra with enough proof. AND SHE WAS GREEK! read your history, people! CLEOPATRA WAS IN FACT BEAUTIFUL! there's no possible way she couldn't. i've read every myth, truth, ad everything in between about her! 'nuff said.
cause i hate how american brain washed people to believe so many lies ! u people are living in a fanasy deal with the facts ! she was black so was moses so was jesus the pope prays to a black jesus ! also and when the europeans invaded egypt they removed the black nose and lips from the spinx and other artifacts and made the painting lighter to make egyptions lighter skinned and fooled americans i deal with reality not this fake shit ! black egypt in the facts not this bulshit she was not greek
gee, lemme think. Alexander the Great was Greek, took over Egypt, founded Alexandria, and his Greek general of some sort Ptolemy took of the throne, and Cleopatra is a direct descendant.
mamifreak and most African Americans seem to be very stupid when they make claims that CLEOPATRA who was of GREEK European origins and WHITE was a black chick. How stupid can some get.
Idiot Cleopatra's mother wasn't recorded on her family tree, so, no one knows for sure if she had African lineage or not. The point is she could have been, and probably was considering Egypt is an African Nation and always will be.
God, reading these post makes me sad. People.... Cleopatra was Greek. The only known image of her (a bust)shows a woman who is very very GREEK! Her ancestors (and herself) were Ptolymies.... Greeks!
Also it is a myth that she was not a beautiful woman. No one that ever actually met her said she wasnt attractive. Accounts say she had a long nose (not a big one) and that being near her was intoxicating) even for Caesar.
I want to know the name of the movie...and what year it was produced since there r so many Cleopatra based movies out there

So the debate is over. Nuff Said.
kingkull0423 2 years ago
I am always a open minded person who likes too look at both sides a argment. Now this is definatly a posibility but.... Arsinoe IV was only Cleopatra's HALF sister. If the remains found in the tomb where hers she may have been from Ptolemy XII a greek and a Egyptian mother or Kushite mother. Cleopatra has a diferent mother. Now it is also a posibility that the race mixing may have happened genarations before Cleopatra but it is not certain she was of mixed race only a posiblity.
Declan2018 2 years ago
I'll agree with that, but the fact remains that Cleopatra's mother isn't listen in the Ptolemy's bloodline. So it's still possible that she was of mixed origin. The point is the bigots seem to have a stake in her being white, which is silly, but arguing with them is fun.
& thanks for pointing that out.
& if you're looking for a good book to read pick up Michael Grant's "The Twelve Caesers."
kingkull0423 2 years ago
Yes there are bigots out there, but there are also a TON of afrocentrists who seem to want to label everyone from Egypt to the middle east as black. Having dark or tan skin does not make you black. What's funnier? Cleopatra was even painted, sculpted, drawn, and described in writing by people at the time as being quite pale. Is there a chance that she had mixed ancestry? Of course, there's that chance with just about anyone, but what we know of her ancestry was European.
Ludichris8531 1 year ago
I think you'll actually find a very large number of black people have stake in the idea that Cleopatra was black. Hell, I've even heard black women say that Cleopatra had to have been black because a white woman could never have been that dominant and strong. Were there black Egyptians? Yes, were all Egyptians black? Certainly not, most weren't. Her family was of Greek descent and that was visible in the artwork made of her at the time. Marc Antony even described her as being very pale.
Ludichris8531 1 year ago
That's an interesting possibity. I never thought of that. We'd have to trace the family tree quite a bit, wouldn't we?

If you ask me I think the only way we will ever know for sure is if her remains are ever found.

Egyptians were not negroid, they were not Arabian, they were a Caucasian race. Nefertiti and Cleopatra were Caucasian. For 75 yrs Nubians did rule Egypt, then they went back to Areas around lower Sudan. But that was after Nefertiti. Now Cleopatra was Caucasian, a direct descendant of Ptolemy, Alexander the Great's General, Greek Macedonian, they only married Greek Macedonians.
amergk 2 years ago
Cleapatra was a direct decendant of Macedonians. Because of incest and intermarraying she did not share the same blood line of the people she ruled but ture EGYPTIAN people were of African and Arab descent amongst other things.

Serpin43 2 years ago

"Asia" LOL that's funny.
kingkull0423 2 years ago
They weren't Arab back then, as a matter of fact, Arab origins stem from the middle east which Egypt isn't a middle eastern state it's an African state. Just because Egypt was invaded by europeans later on doesn't mean that Egypt all of the sudden lost it Afrocentrism.
kingkull0423 2 years ago
You're swimming a fine line between having a point and being a complete moron. Egypt is a grey area, while it belongs, mostly, to the continent of Africa, it has historically associated more with Mesopotamia, Syria, and Lebanon than had more cultural exchange with them than true African states. From the pre-dynastic Naqada II culture Egypt traded and began to expand heavily eastward, favouring the middle east and reaching almost as far as Anatolia. Egypt can hardly be called 'Afrocentric'.
ClassyHat 2 years ago
"Egypt can hardly be called Afrocentric" And you're saying I sound like a complete moron. Have you ever looked at Ancient Egyptian Hieroglyphs and art. The people were black deal with it! They had wide noses and thick lips and dark skin plus Egypt is part of the African continent...yep that's pretty Afrocentric to me.
kingkull0423 2 years ago
Go look up Afrocentric in a dictionary. Heiroglyphs do not depict Black people in Egypt, have you ever noticed how Indians have dark skin but AREN'T BLACK? How about any number of other races who are a deep brown in colour but NOT BLACK? The facial features of the people in Egyptian painting are NOT consistent with black africans, neither is the skin colour they are painted with for that matter. Egyptians were their own race, and they associated more with Mesopotamia, Lebanon and Syria. Moron.
ClassyHat 2 years ago
You must be blind as a bat then because the Hieroglyphs and the Statues are consistent with black features, and yes the skin color is also consistent since there are different shades of black people all thru out Africa. Just look at the depictions of Akhenaten and Neferteti. "Thick lips and Dark skin!" They were black. What you have in Egypt today is a result of race mixing. What you have in East Africa and the Middle East today is the result of Blacks, Whites and Asians inbreeding. Get a clue.

Cleopatra was white. Her ancestors came from Greece. Her family married themselves - thus keeping the bloodline pure. She was by some accounts even blonde. She was definitely not dark-skinned.
Patrick3183 3 years ago 2
And how do you know? Were you there?...I didn't think so.
Plus, if you bothered to research Cleopatra VII bloodline you'd see that Cleopatra's mother isn't listed. So no one knows who her mother was and since ancient Egypt was a black nation it's easy to assume she could have been part black.
And what about the Ottoman Greeks, were they all white considering people of Greek descent are of an olive complexion.
Racism isn't cool dude. Every culture contributed to the world we live in.
kingkull0423 3 years ago
That's politically correct delusion. Cleopatra was a white woman.
Patrick3183 3 years ago 2
Patrick3183:
Keep telling yourself that because it may not be true. Why don't you do some research on her bloodline?
And I know you won't because you'll have to question your anglo-narcissism, and God forbid if a Black Woman ruled over an empire.
"Politically correct delusion" you can't be serious?
Don't get caught with that white sheet over your head in broad daylight...peole might actually tease you.

BTW, she wasn't even of native Egyptian origins. Since Ptolemaics were so fond of inbreeding to maintain their bloodlines that would likely not only make her 100% white, but also having suffered from some kind of genetic diseases brought on by in-breeding.

beautiful movie, video, actress, ect. Cleopatra is one of the few queens i look up to.
cheerleader4lyfe235 3 years ago
i also have to say that there is some truth in myth, when they said she was ugly, it was prolly cause she didnt have egyptian features. apart from that, even if she was ugly, there is no way anyone would have stood up in front of the queen or wrote on a papyrus that she was ugly. no one would have dared to insult the queen that she was ugly.
sweetangelofpeace 3 years ago
No, she was not ugly. We have images in the form of portrait statue busts of her in museums. Look her up in wikipedia. Two Roman historians, Plutarch and Tacitus say she was physically average but her poise and demenor was elegant and her voice was beautiful. One Roman historian, Cassius Dio, said in fact she was very beautiful. Anyway both Caesar and Anthony thought she was beautiful ... they were so rich and powerful they could have had any woman, but they wanted Cleopatra!
buddmar 3 years ago
buddmar, u said it urself that plutarch and tacitus stated that she was average, which is not a nice compliment for a queen in those days. a queen was always praised. anyway, i dont trust wiki, its not a reliable source, no offence. i believe men wanted her because she was ambitious and powerful and she reigned over a prosperous land that was rich in slaves and had what was considered the most important in egypt, the nile river. roman men at that time were very ambitious, power was everything.
sweetangelofpeace 3 years ago
On the other hand the Roman Historian Cassius Dio stated that Cleo was in fact very beautiful. In truth, none of them ever met her. The fact is, to the Romans she was the enemy! They portrayed her in unflattering terms. The discovery of old Coptic Egyptian documents give us a clue that even after several generations Cleo was very highly regarded by her people. May I suggest the superb biography "Cleopatra" by British historian Lucy Hughes-Hallett?
buddmar 3 years ago
thanks for suggesting the book. i will check it out! i hope my comments never offended u, they werent meant to...but i had fun discussing this with u and thanks for being polite and very intellectual. bye buddmar
sweetangelofpeace 3 years ago
No offense taken! You are a wonderful person! We both yearn to learn more about this extraordinary lady, but she's been dead for 2,000 and there are many things we will never know about her. We must never forget that Cleopatra was a brilliant stateswoman and politician who elevated her country from a crumbling weak and decadent kingdom to a great empire in a matter of a few years. She was playing a very risky game and she knew it. She is now one of the most famous women in history.
buddmar 3 years ago
Very well said, to lure two such men amongst men she certainly must have had strong attributes both physically as well as celebral.
seany722 3 years ago
not to argue with u xizora, but cleopatra was exactly macedonian. and she was very fair. according to many, she wasnt even that beautiful. nefertiti was really the true queen of egypt and she was very beautiful. we have her head statue to prove it.
sweetangelofpeace 3 years ago
so? we have statues of cleopatra with enough proof. AND SHE WAS GREEK! read your history, people! CLEOPATRA WAS IN FACT BEAUTIFUL! there's no possible way she couldn't. i've read every myth, truth, ad everything in between about her! 'nuff said.
