if you putting on a fresh copy of it then yes even if you have the home edition. if you have professional, it will upgrade it. Backup all your files then do it.

if you're running windows xp, you will have some trouble unless you burn the ISO to a cd using iso burner or something like that

can you do it to a usb if you use the magic iso extract option or does this have to be a disk?

you can save it onto a memory stick but you can't burn it onto the device nor installing it to that device. Only burn to a CD

Never to a Memory stick as this may make it unusable

you need to burn the data onto the cd. thats what the ISO burner is there for
