Ive done many shows with the l1 system both as a musican and sound engineer. I was eager to hear them as they have alot of hype around them. However, for the amount you pay I think hey aren't worth it. Firstly compared to a proper pa speaker (even cheaper ones) they sound "plasticky" and thin. Then with the b1 you get a lot of highs and lows but not much inbetween. Sure they get loud but they sound harsh at higher levels. Also, I didn't like the fact that you cannot separate foh and on stage vo
Why do guitar players play out of amplifiers and yet have monitors right in front of them? Isn't the amplifier enough? I suppose each person having their own Bose setup would be a bit extreme. But then again playing through an amp right behind you and then having the same sound coming back at you from the front is just stupidity to me.
I've done two contracts for Celebrity Cruises both as orchestra guitarist and trombonist and played many a variety of local shows ranging from symphony concerts to small clubs both solo and with groups and I've come to hate monitors more with every experience. However, on the ship they were not capable of sending me my own monitor mix which sucked. When monitors blasted back at us everyone bitched about each other's volume, including the guest entertainers. To each his own.
@Fretfreak83 Most guitarists I know use the monitors to hear the rest of the band such as vocals, mic'd drums, keys, etc. I agree with you, I know a keyboard player who insists on having his Motif Connected to a Roland KC880 for a monitor and then through the FOH and back through a monitor next to him. He could just skip the Roland and listen through the Monitor.

if the performers can hear the same sound as the audience, why do each of them need one system p;ace behind them?
