he isn't saying the "sound" of the word backwards, so it wouldn't sound correct in reverse. He's taking each word and then reversing all the letters and reading it (in his head) as a new word. He is also keeping each word in the same order in the sentence.

so "hey whats up" becomes "yeh stahw pu".

many people say he is a fake and only speaks certain words backwards to fool you. it not true. people mistake the way he talks. he does not say an entire sentence or whatever backwards. he speaks the sentence in the correct order the words go in. he just reverse each word.
