  • My grandparents had a radio the size of the great pyramids, and the record player in a drawer played only 45 RPM records. I was spoiled, so they played this song 1 million times in a row for me. Since we moved away about the time of my third birthday I had to be two at the time, and I still love this song!

  • Sung this song many, many times!

  • And the honeycomb from a million trips

    Made my baby's lips :))

  • I'm 16 years old. I perfer this song to ANY song today. :) I miss falling asleep to this music. <3

  • Too bad Commericalism found this free-spirited song advantageous to making profits on their products for the general-public at large . .

  • Hey, this song sounds familiar...isn't this from the cereal commercial?

  • When I heard this song as a teenacher, it just stayed with me and I've never forgotten the words. I guess that one of Jimmie Rodgers Spiritual Cell helped me out with "IT" cause although I never practiced the song, I was able to sing it for years and still do when my arthritis allow me to play my guitar. :)

God Bless his soul and call me crazy but I know that many of my spiritual cells will want to thank him during Eternity.

  • Happy Birthday, Jimmie Rodgers!

  • love this song always

  • I prefer the Stereo re-recording he did probably in the early 1960's

  • Jimmie's the only guitarist-singer I knew of who used his left thumb like a guitarist would use a capo.

  • @7927jackpark Jimi Hendrix did it too, brother . . .

  • Ever think of all the great music in 1957 ??

  • rockinmosquito you are so funny

  • Bob Merrill only wrote the lyrics to those Funny Girl songs. Jule Styne wrote the music.

  • Send me back to the 50s! I had enough of today's life, society and music. I want to go back in time! I want to live there forever.. PLEASE!!!!

  • rockinmosquito. My view on age has shifted drastically. When I was 18 in college, my roommate moved his 25 year old girlfriend into the dorm. All I thought was "What if the old bag drops dead right in the dorm?" Now, at the age of 64, my 69 year old friend just married a 45 year old woman, and I accused him of being a pedophile.

  • @stanton327 ?? what the F* does this have to do with jimmie rogers - honeycomb???

  • Did you have ruin my nostalgia tsunami by noting that your grandparents loved this song?

  • @stanton327 -- If you think that is bad, Ritchie Valens would have turned 70 on May 13. Yep, we are all getting older.

  • Me and my other sister would our sister about this song...

  • I have to be careful when this song comes on the radio when I'm driving because I'm liable to stop concentrating on my driving.

  • This song has always cheered me up. It came out before I was born but throughout the 60s it played a lot and my dad did love it.

  • what a fun song... 46-0 now 47

  • jinmmy rodgers became jimmie rodgers..when he moved from the states to UK and reissued all songs and some new ones.... ;-) the girl i used to know... honycomb 2 versions... hard to tell apart but the chiors are different

  • my grndparents luv this song ..i like it 2..its fun.

  • I always liked the way he caught his breath when he says "honeycomb." I've noticed he doesn't do that on later recordings of the song. Is there a story there?

  • @glipzik All I know about this recording session was that it was an all-nighter, and Jimmie may have been tiring...Nocaro

  • @glipzik i have the original 45 of this song. i know exactly what you mean by 'caught his breath' ...you can hear it on the record. the 45 i have is THIS version.

  • WMGM Top 40 Survey For the Week of September 16, 1957 This week 5 Last week 4 HONEYCOMB - Jimmie Rodgers (Roulette) Weeks on the chart. 9

  • Great song. I first heard this when POST used this for their Honey Comb cereal comericial. I believe He sang it if memory serves me correct.
