Well, as for the movie (I never saw the TV show) I can tell you that despite that Tim Burton vibe it definately was not this song. Danny Elfman did score Beetlejuice, though, and so the song was probably similar.

That's Danny. I've seen Boingo a few times in concert and have all of thier albums. This is the version that is on the Boi-ngo album.

From what I remember, Danny Elfman was never satified with his voice (although this could be more rumour than fact). When the "Dead Man's Party" album came out he changed. Perhaps he had voice lessons, perhaps the producer worked with him on his voice, I don't know. But I did notice his singing voice changed just a little. Compared to original recording of the song "Ain't this the life" he almost sounds like a different person on "Dead Man's Party" and especially the last two Boingo albums.

Actually, I read an interview with Danny from around when The Nightmare Before Christmas came out, and when he was asked if he had taken voice lessons he said he hadn't.
