I realize there is a limited amount of footage from that era, and i have seen ALOT of it but really sick of seeing bits put together that have nothing to do with what its titled. History Channel is the worst for this. Ive seen countless shots where they have been showing clips of war in the atlantic and skipped to shots of pearl harbor in bombing runs even using really famous shots like the USS Arizona getting hit.

I worked with a man who worked on planes during WWII and he told me that when he was flying on a mission he saw a Me-262 zoom past his plane. He said that it was so fast that nobody knew what it was until it slowed down to make a pass. So yes, there were Me-262s flown during the war, but not many of them because Hitler didn't believe the war could be won from the air. He was convinced it could be won on the ground with tanks and infantrymen.
@Mufaso1000 no, but close, Hitler's theory was that the war would be won with blitzkrieg tactics, where infantry, tanks, and planes all came together in a lightning strike, which meant almost all of his almost 350 ME262 were used as bombers to the end of the war.
Blitzkrieg was a one-try shot. They tried it one against France and it worked. They tried it against the USSR and it failed. Never to be repeated. Blitzkrieg was gamble.

Blitzkrieg was not used in Poland. It requires a "conveyor belt". If it is broken for any length of time it fails. The Blitzkrieg plan was only approved a few moths before invading France. The original plan fell into Allied hands. Only Mannerheim and Hitler liked it, all other were against. It was a massive gamble that paid off - never to be repeated.
If the Me-262 was really in the war, Hitler's biggest aviation mistake, then sure the outcome would have been different but not to manufacture the plane in the 1939 eriod in massive numbers assured the allies victory. Yes, this is not a true depiction. It's a dream. Just like Vietnam, Iraq, and now Afganistan - dreams of American total conquest.
You are wrong, the ME-262 did not shoot down more allied bombers than any other German aircraft. The 262 came into the war too late to make a considerable difference, it would probably be the ME-109 the holds the position, and those could easily be chewed up by P-47s, and P-51s (and the 262 could be chewed up by the P-51)
@theFPSIreland I don't know if you can really say that the P-47 could "chew up" a Bf-109. It could hold it's own, once they figured out how to fly it, but it didn't outclass the 109 by any obvous margin. And a P-51 could shoot down a 262, but only if he could catch him, i.e. while landing. There were other planes that could do that too, but it's not like that makes the P-51 vs the 262 like a Ki-84 vs a Buffalo Brewster or something. That's a case of getting "chewed up".
@justforever96 the P-47 is an interceptor that could with stand an all out attack by an FW-190 look at what happened to Robert S Johnston, who later became a high scoring ace in the 47. and it did out class the 109 in multipule areas, it wasnt a weak poor aircraft. well the P-51 took down the 262 in other areas other than landing, it could out turn it so the 51 could catch it in a turning fight, and 262 pilots would make mistakes which would cost them.
@theFPSIreland I didn't say either P-51 or P-47 was a bad plane. They were both very good planes . I just don't think that the 109 or the 190 were obviously inferior. They all had certain strengths and weaknesses, and victory wasn't a foregone conclusion. The 262 was no dogfighter; I'd call it more of a "pursuit" plane, for killing bombers (which it did very well). A smart 262 pilot would avoid turning fights; he had the option of declining combat, unless caught at low altitudes.
@theFPSIreland Anyway, one shouldn't judge a fighter by how well it fights other fighters alone. Before the war, the thinking was that a fighters job was to take out enemy bombers. They also didn't think they'd need escorts. It turned out that escorts were needed, so being able to keep up in a dogfight was important, but a plane like the 262's priority was knocking down bombers. It did that very well, and could keep away from the escorts. So it did it's job just fine, really.
@theFPSIreland Oh yeah, and about the armor. I think most fighters were hurting pretty badly after a good hit by six .50cals. I know there's talk about them being "underpowered" vs. cannons, but I think that's exaggerated with fighter vs. fighter. If US fighters had needed to take out fleets of bombers, it would have been a different story, but armor plate and self sealing tanks were hard pressed at best by a .50 API. A 262 was supposed to stay ahead of fighters and out of range!
@theFPSIreland it's not only the plane but also who flew it: marseille (one of the best aces) shot down many p-47's but never was even close to lose a dogfight to them, and his plane was a me-109. but: as long as the pure masses were relatively balanced it were the germans who reported kill after kill. more than 100 german fighter pilots scored 100 kills or more, not a single allied fighter scored more than 60!!! in the end the masses (not better planes or pilots) just smashed the german aces.

The point is that there is so many years of war and it all ties together so anyone can blame anyone. I wanted the Germans to win when I was about 12 years old, 40 years after the war. But than I found out they built ovens and showers to kill not only Jews, but all Untermunchen, Subhumans in their eyes. Showers to kill and ovens to dispose of the bodies. Bullets became too expensive. Love the Me-262, fantastic aircraft in the hands of an experten. Too little to late.
I saw an FW-190 getting shot down, I saw a P-47 getting hit, and I saw some Me-262s doing a fly-by or two of an airfield. And I saw some B-17s getting hit, almost certainly by 190s and 109s. But I sure didn't see any 262s downing any B-17s.
This video is a classic example of how an idiot can stitch together a bunch of clips, call it something that it is totally not, and thereby not only assault the truth, but pollute the world with lies and misunderstanding.

And most 262's were shot down while on approach, when they had to fly slowly and steadily to make the runway. Unless they were caught right after they left the runway, it'd be harder to shoot one down on the way out.

just visit one of the bigger camps. For example a visit to Weimar is a good idea. You can visit the museums for some of the greatest German minds and afterwards Buchenwald in the close proximity and ask yourself how this could be done by the same people. But it could - there are videos of inhabitants of Weimar who were forced to visit the camp while there were still prisoners and dead all over the place just a few days after the camp was liberated.
I watched one of the many video documentations in 1995 at Buchenwald as hundreds of thousands have been doing earlier. In order to deny its authenticity you need to have serious problems with reality. I also talked to many of the survivers and a few of the perpetrators in person.
The evidence is extensive and consistent. There were so many camps in Germany that everybody has one in close proximity and can visit it.

You might want to look up the Rzeczpos Polita with a shore line from Lebork to a few miles west of Riga (and that is already reduced by the losses from 1657-1686, otherwise it would be up to Parnawa). Before that Poland had been united for more than 700 years (since 1025). It was actually rooted in history far more firmly than especially Germany.

@Insert1name1here Sure, as long as you have a pile of barrels. They must be changed every 150-300 rounds. Allied troops would concentrate fire on t he gun crews when they had to swap barrels. The MG-42 had serious draw backs. I've been a gun smith over forty years, I think I know the weapon. And it's effective range is 800 meters.
@Greatherlorre If your' still using this old gun, then apparently you've lost your edge in design. The current variants are very different and parts will not interchange between them. Ingenious as it may be, other machine guns have much longer barrel life and are as simple to change. Our 7.62mm mini guns for example would pulverize an MG-42 gun crew at 3500 rpm and barely warm the barrels up. The MG-42 is a dinosaur. The M-60 is one such variant, but, not the same gun.
@Insert1name1here I know how fast they shoot, and you only have to change the barrle if your continuously laying down belt after belt, It's so the barrel doesn't overheat and pop. By the time you have to change it, the other one has cooled down.

Politics aside, the Me 262 was an awesome aircraft and luckily for the allies it came into service at the end of the war. It's airspeed was impressive but it couldn't match the P-51D in manueverability and range. Most Me 262's were shot down as they were landing or taking off.
The comments by @anAutmnsDay & @ketsan are all the facts we need. WWII could have been avoided bothy during the Armistice period of WWI and right at the start of 1939. At least in the Western Front for sure, there are no quarantees or its likely that Russia & Germany were goiong to war against each other for sure on the other hand.
The superiority of the Luftwaffe is beyond controversy. Go google "list of world war 2 flying aces", look the Wikipedia and show some humbleness. The top 3 german aces shot down nearly 1000 enemies. Under the top 100 ww2 flying aces there is not a single non-german pilot. This is no propaganda it is backed up by allied intelligence.

They just had to continue to fight til death so yes they would have had higher kill counts. @0341MarineInfantry The campaignes against France and Poland didn't even last long enough to get these counts. The highest scoring allied ace got 60 victories, so not even close, even he continued to fly "till death" and survived the war.

ME 262 could have been one of Hitler's "wonder weapons" if he had understood aviation better...He insisted on making the jet a bomber (impractical) instead of a fighter to defend the skies over Germany. Whenever I look up in the sky & see Air Force planes dropping toxic chemtrail residue down on us 24/7, I mentally wish a German 88 would shoot the bastard down. A guy from our village did some research and he found out that the German fighter pilot who shot down the bomber was Feldwebel Walther Spille who was KIA in 1942.

You can attribute WW2 to the treaty that ended WW1 because France tried to punish Germany to a bunch of useless districts. Every provision that caused the destruction during the 1920's and 1930's of the world can be attributed to the after effects and effects of the treaty.

I worked with a man who worked on planes during WWII and he told me that when he was flying on a mission he saw a Me-262 zoom past his plane. He said that it was so fast that nobody knew what it was until it slowed down to make a pass. So yes, there were Me-262s flown during the war, but not many of them because Hitler didn't believe the war could be won from the air. He was convinced it could be won on the ground with tanks and infantrymen.

Blitzkrieg was not used in Poland. It requires a "conveyor belt". If it is broken for any length of time it fails. The Blitzkrieg plan was only approved a few moths before invading France. The original plan fell into Allied hands. Only Mannerheim and Hitler liked it, all other were against. It was a massive gamble that paid off - never to be repeated.

You are wrong, the ME-262 did not shoot down more allied bombers than any other German aircraft. The 262 came into the war too late to make a considerable difference, it would probably be the ME-109 the holds the position, and those could easily be chewed up by P-47s, and P-51s (and the 262 could be chewed up by the P-51)

@theFPSIreland I don't know if you can really say that the P-47 could "chew up" a Bf-109. It could hold it's own, once they figured out how to fly it, but it didn't outclass the 109 by any obvous margin. And a P-51 could shoot down a 262, but only if he could catch him, i.e. while landing. There were other planes that could do that too, but it's not like that makes the P-51 vs the 262 like a Ki-84 vs a Buffalo Brewster or something. That's a case of getting "chewed up".

@justforever96 the P-47 is an interceptor that could with stand an all out attack by an FW-190 look at what happened to Robert S Johnston, who later became a high scoring ace in the 47. and it did out class the 109 in multipule areas, it wasnt a weak poor aircraft. well the P-51 took down the 262 in other areas other than landing, it could out turn it so the 51 could catch it in a turning fight, and 262 pilots would make mistakes which would cost them.

@theFPSIreland I didn't say either P-51 or P-47 was a bad plane. They were both very good planes . I just don't think that the 109 or the 190 were obviously inferior. They all had certain strengths and weaknesses, and victory wasn't a foregone conclusion. The 262 was no dogfighter; I'd call it more of a "pursuit" plane, for killing bombers (which it did very well). A smart 262 pilot would avoid turning fights; he had the option of declining combat, unless caught at low altitudes.

@theFPSIreland Anyway, one shouldn't judge a fighter by how well it fights other fighters alone. Before the war, the thinking was that a fighters job was to take out enemy bombers. They also didn't think they'd need escorts. It turned out that escorts were needed, so being able to keep up in a dogfight was important, but a plane like the 262's priority was knocking down bombers. It did that very well, and could keep away from the escorts. So it did it's job just fine, really.

@theFPSIreland Oh yeah, and about the armor. I think most fighters were hurting pretty badly after a good hit by six .50cals. I know there's talk about them being "underpowered" vs. cannons, but I think that's exaggerated with fighter vs. fighter. If US fighters had needed to take out fleets of bombers, it would have been a different story, but armor plate and self sealing tanks were hard pressed at best by a .50 API. A 262 was supposed to stay ahead of fighters and out of range!

@theFPSIreland it's not only the plane but also who flew it: marseille (one of the best aces) shot down many p-47's but never was even close to lose a dogfight to them, and his plane was a me-109. but: as long as the pure masses were relatively balanced it were the germans who reported kill after kill. more than 100 german fighter pilots scored 100 kills or more, not a single allied fighter scored more than 60!!! in the end the masses (not better planes or pilots) just smashed the german aces.

The point is that there is so many years of war and it all ties together so anyone can blame anyone. I wanted the Germans to win when I was about 12 years old, 40 years after the war. I saw an FW-190 getting shot down, I saw a P-47 getting hit, and I saw some Me-262s doing a fly-by or two of an airfield. And I saw some B-17s getting hit, almost certainly by 190s and 109s. But I sure didn't see any 262s downing any B-17s.
This video is a classic example of how an idiot can stitch together a bunch of clips, call it something that it is totally not, and thereby not only assault the truth, but pollute the world with lies and misunderstanding.

just visit one of the bigger camps. For example a visit to Weimar is a good idea. You can visit the museums for some of the greatest German minds and afterwards Buchenwald in the close proximity and ask yourself how this could be done by the same people. But it could - there are videos of inhabitants of Weimar who were forced to visit the camp while there were still prisoners and dead all over the place just a few days after the camp was liberated.

I watched one of the many video documentations in 1995 at Buchenwald as hundreds of thousands have been doing earlier. In order to deny its authenticity you need to have serious problems with reality. I also talked to many of the survivers and a few of the perpetrators in person.
The evidence is extensive and consistent. There were so many camps in Germany that everybody has one in close proximity and can visit it.

You might want to look up the Rzeczpos Polita with a shore line from Lebork to a few miles west of Riga (and that is already reduced by the losses from 1657-1686, otherwise it would be up to Parnawa). The desaster with the Ostpreußen enclave started as late as 1772 and was caused by Prussia, Russia and Austria ripping Poland apart.
Before that Poland had been united for more than 700 years (since 1025). It was actually rooted in history far more firmly than especially Germany.

The MG-42 had serious draw backs. I've been a gun smith over forty years, I think I know the weapon. And it's effective range is 800 meters.

@Greatherlorre If your' still using this old gun, then apparently you've lost your edge in design. The current variants are very different and parts will not interchange between them. Ingenious as it may be, other machine guns have much longer barrel life and are as simple to change. Our 7.62mm mini guns for example would pulverize an MG-42 gun crew at 3500 rpm and barely warm the barrels up. The MG-42 is a dinosaur. The M-60 is one such variant, but, not the same gun.

Politics aside, the Me 262 was an awesome aircraft and luckily for the allies it came into service at the end of the war. It's airspeed was impressive but it couldn't match the P-51D in manueverability and range. Most Me 262's were shot down as they were landing or taking off.

The comments by @anAutmnsDay & @ketsan are all the facts we need. WWII could have been avoided bothy during the Armistice period of WWI and right at the start of 1939. At least in the Western Front for sure, there are no quarantees or its likely that Russia & Germany were goiong to war against each other for sure on the other hand.

The superiority of the Luftwaffe is beyond controversy. Go google "list of world war 2 flying aces", look the Wikipedia and show some humbleness. The top 3 german aces shot down nearly 1000 enemies. Under the top 100 ww2 flying aces there is not a single non-german pilot. This is no propaganda it is backed up by allied intelligence.

@Gelebify Hmmm....Battle of Britain comes to mind. Also the fact that about 85% of those vaunted aces were killed in combat or flying accidents. They just had to continue to fight til death so yes they would have had higher kill counts. Also, most of these "aces" got huge numbers of victories against crappy pilots in crappy planes in the Spanish War and France and Poland. Nice try.

@0341MarineInfantry Battle of Britain. If a NFL Team runs against 20 college teams at the same time and is constantly shot by anti-aircraft fire you get these results. Compare us plane losses in Vietnam.
Most victories against spanish and french? You know nothing about ww2 history. Spanish only had 300 planes. Actually the most were Il-2s which even resited 20mm guns.
Besides that the top 3 aces survived the war as well as a lot among the top 50. Stop bs talk.

@0341MarineInfantry The campaignes against France and Poland didn't even last long enough to get these counts. The highest scoring allied ace got 60 victories, so not even close, even he continued to fly "till death" and survived the war.
And what is that for an argument that the shot down planes were crappy? Even if true this is considered as "superiority".
The germans were not outclassed or outplayed, they were outnumbered. 10 Million dead russian soldiers alone.

Wow this is a revelation. If GB had not declared war on Germany, WW2 would not have happened. All Britian's fault.
The catalyst, political situation & location of both WW1 & WW2 had nothing to do with the GB then it is fortunate that the worlds biggest empire did get involved. Fight for 5 & 6 years loosing millions of lives liberated most of Europe. Germany was building a 1000 year reich. You dont do thatc by invading Poland. ME 262 could have been one of Hitler's "wonder weapons" if he had understood aviation better...He insisted on making the jet a bomber (impractical) instead of a fighter to defend the skies over Germany. He was obsessed with always being on the offensive...didn't understand the role of defensive warfare.

Whenever I look up in the sky & see Air Force planes dropping toxic chemtrail residue down on us 24/7, I mentally wish a German 88 would shoot the bastard down. When we're not bombing civilians overseas, our planes are dropping poison here on our own people, slowly killing us, our trees, bees, plants, livestock, etc. The good old USAAF. The Stalags & the Hanoi Hilton was far too good for them. The Brits started the deliberate airblitz of cities. Germany retaliated. We had no excuse at all.

My grandmother said that she saw the dogfights between German figthers and USAAF fighters and bombers. And occasionally a bomber or a fighter came down and crashed, she said a British Wellington crashed in her backgarden killing the crew which was scattered over the area with bodyparts everywere.
A guy from our village did some research and he found out that the German fighter pilot who shot down the bomber was Feldwebel Walther Spille who was KIA in 1942.
Anyway thanks to the brave airmen!

You can attribute WW2 to the treaty that ended WW1 because France tried to punish Germany to a bunch of useless districts. Every provision that caused the destruction during the 1920's and 1930's of the world can be attributed to the after effects and effects of the treaty.
