You've got it wrong on a couple of things mate. This movie did NOT have any flaws. It should have been as big as The Godfather but thanks to a few morons in the wrong places the original cut got butchered (because of length issues) before being released to America. Sergio Leone must have been devastated! Anyway it obviously got sub-par reviews and missed out on the Academy Awards because of that (and the fact that Leone was a foriegn director). Saddest story in the history of cinema...
this film could have been as big as the god father but the story had some flaws in it and the best acting was done by the kids not the adults. music, imagery, and directing was the best. the directors cut was suppposed to be a lot better than the film in the theater which didnt do so well.
