  • Steve Davis is a legend and those people who know anything about snooker over the last 30 years or so will agree. Steve Davis played the game without having to show off and reaped the rewards. Jimmy White was a great player and a great entertainer, I always liked watching Jimmy play but it has to be said that when it came to winning the World Championship Jimmy lost his bottle when it really mattered. Jimmy should have won the world title in 1992 and 1994. Steve and Jimmy, great players.

  • @Davewise1965 couldnt have put it better myself.

  • @spinout3 Thanks for your reply.

  • Jimmy will never win nothing.. he a has been

  • The first time i have ever seen this frame in full. I am a big fan of Jimmy White and this is yet another heartbreaker, he had 3 good chances to win this frame and take it to a decider. I guess he was just destined never to be be World professional Champion.....very sad!

  • wow close game but steve deserved it to be honest, i mean jimmy white deserved a world title but not really he plays a little too fast without concerntrating with most of it, i mean come on what kind of f***kin shot was that at 3:38 with shots like that davis deserved it

  • jimmy was very unlucky, he should of deserved sumthing.

  • With all his skill Davis was a lucky SOB

  • You know what, had Jimmy' fans learn to shut it at and not disrupt his concentration at key moments, he might be a double world chamoion at the very least.

  • The secret to Davis's world title wins was down to the fact that he was a very good starter in his matches. He would usually win the opening session by at least 6 frames and that cemented his lead even when his opponent rallied (1985 being the exception). The 1986 final was significant because Davis never built up a commanding lead and lost by a big scoreline 18-12 to Joe Johnson.

  • @ian1970byrne The 88 final with Griffiths was an exception though. They were level after 2 sessions and it was a strong third session where Davis went from 8-8 to 14-10 which won him the match.

  • Jimmy left himself with too much to do in this final. He was 12-4 down after the first days play and to almost take the match to a final frame was admirable

  • true, Jimmy really didn't handle pressure well, he gifted 1994 to Hendry too

  • you can add 1993 and 1992 too

  • Shot at 3:39 Jimmy's worst ever? Too, bad about that.

  • Jimmy White did everything EXCEPT win the World title. 147 at the World Championships, UK Champion, Grand Prix, Masters...Ken Doherty is the reverse of this - he LOST everything except the World Championship.

  • @LoafOfPint Yeah, and he even managed to lost a 147 at the last black! Proving your theory!

  • @LoafOfPint true i find ken always misses

  • jimmy cant aim under pressure

  • man...it hurts to see jimmy choke at every finals...the yellow..the green..i couldnt even watch after that

  • yes.. jimmy is a total winner. very sad he hasn't won a wc.

  • Well, he's likely had a pretty good life to this point, nevertheless. In spite of not winning a wc, he has a lot of fans and support, as I understand it.
