I first saw this on Sci-Fi, which I thought was rather strange. It was a lot better though in little parts on TV than it was in it's entirety, but I honestly still really loved it all around.
Interesting review. For what it's worth, the series is tied to a manga that was subsequently released, and a lot of the stuff that's left unanswered in the TV show is explained in the manga. There's also the...five, i think, audio dramas that act as supplements to the story. Lastly, Betterman is set in the same world as The King of Braves GaoGaiGar (kind of why Sunrise went out of their way to tie both stories together for Grand Glorious Gathering).

You should review this one anime I found! It is so horrible! I can't remember the name though, I think was Pilot something-or-other. The dubbing is the worst part of it though! "The more I proceed the more unfamiliar it becomes." "It's like a cat with broken brakes, it's dangerous!" "Stop suddenly appearing in front of me!" No to mention extremely flawed logic and the refusal of the characters to answer each other with something relvent to the question! LOL!
You've pretty much been giving me some good references as far as what to expect from the shows you review. I've REALLY been wondering alot about this one, but thanks to you, I'll see about giving it a rental whenever possible.
Sounds like the creators cram all those stuff togather like what Ginax did in This Ugly yet Beautiful World and expect to have a large fanbase. Sounds to boring for my taste.
Great review as always ^_^ I have volume 1 of this DVD that I bought way back, and like you said, I thought it was cool and really creepy, (as well as full of lots of talking for my attention span back then xD) but...wow..I guess I'm glad I didn't watch the whole thing afterall 'cause I'd probably feel the same way~
