  • When I first looked at this I thought "my God it's Glen Gould" The posture is somewhat similar.

  • Excellent - this is one of my favorites

  • Very good pace - lovely to listen to

  • I'm so glad to FINALLY find a version I can feel good about my piano students listening to! My son is currently working on this piece and I'm very grateful for an example I feel good about him emulating.

  • Awesome Job,My Friend!!!

  • Very nice! With this tempo, you can really "hear" every single note played. Sounds very elegant. Keep up the good work. :-)

  • My favorite Joplin piece. Thanks for doing it justice :)

  • Fantastic! Thank you for playing the song correctly, at the right tempo. So many others out there make the compositon feel RUSHED. Beautiful.

  • Best version by far! Perfect, and finally someone with a sweet tempo, totally amazing

  • perfect! at this speed you can hear and appreciate all the notes :D

  • Great job! I like this tempo, actually, because you can really "hear" and appreciate all the notes and the melody. I can't stand the ultra-fast versions.

  • Very enjoyable to listen to, although from personal preference i prefered played faster. This was perfect throughout, which i absolutely love. Well done and thank you.

  • fantastic!! This is great...wonderful performance..

    And i am so envious!!

  • Wonderful tempo! Bravo to any pianist who is sufficiently thoughtful to arrive at such a realization of the true personality of classic ragtime.---David Thomas Roberts

  • Fantastic!!!!! Love the even, steady beat and the dynamics.

  • slow

  • Bravo! come piace a me!

  • Thanks to all of you for taking the time to let me know you appreciate this. Since the response has been so favorable, I'm encouraged and will be recording some more Joplin very soon.

  • @GlennHardy

Yeah dude do it! you're awesome!

  • Yep. Nicest I've heard. Feels good. I'm trying to learn it on guitar, but there are so many variations and different keys on utube that I want to get to know it from an authentic piano version, although I could never play it this good. This shall be my standard. Thanks

  • this is really good, can u post sum piano sheets?? :D ty ^-^

  • You're doin' it right!

  • 1 word = Genius

  • you're really, absolutely great!!!!!! greetings from Italy!

    Silvy

  • where can you get free sheet music for this?

  • truly amazing...

  • Tasteful...like, a very classy and interesting rendition. Great dynamics.

  • Yea I agree the slower tempe really brings out the magic of this piece, but I will admit that it is tempting to really play fast.

  • nice piece

  • now that's the way to do it! I've seen tons of maple leafs on YT, but none was so well played - most people are just showing off how fast they can play it, but in fact this tempo favours this piece the most.

  • nice rithym(?) i've seen so many peoples playing this song, but so fast... this is not cool... You play so soft, very nice!

Congratulations, and sorry for my english, i'm brazilian!

  • just wonderful.

  • Me encanta el ragtime, es una lastima que no se le escuche seguido.

Gracias por seguir ejecutando esta musica y felicidades.

  • I'm glad so many people appreciate hearing ragtime played in the more "traditional" way. Some might say "stodgy" or even "academic." Joplin was a teacher and a pretty conservative guy. Of course, we know that even in his own time, musicians were playing his music in ways of which he did not approve. I'm thinking of Jelly Roll Morton in particular. But then, what a wonderful new tradition came out of Morton's "jazzing up" of ragtime.

Thanks for listening, and keep practicing!

  • I think WE have to thank YOU for making us a good time while listening your very good piano performance.

Thanks from Germany and keep up ragtime :)

  • Thankyou for your opinion. You just verbalize my thoughts

  • @GlennHardy You're right, I personally enjoy it both ways, but I have to say that you have done Joplin justice in interpreting it correctly, it sounds great - and as well as that, I can still hear parts where you play it just slightly differently that the sheet music, it's a nice touch to the song, because I can tell you're enjoying it :D

    Thanks.

  • this is it. this is the thing as it is supposed to be. :)

  • absolutely stunning!

i'm learning this now, i've been learning it for about a week nonstop at my home.

    it is VERY difficult.<3

  • im thirteen and in the process of learning the same version of this song and its really hard!!!! lol

  • Takes me back to when I first started learning Piano, I was 5 or 6 and it was this easy learning ragtime piano book full of gems, a fair few pegs down in skill compared to what's required for pieces like this though.

    Wonderful piece wonderfully played!

  • well done indeed

  • My thanks to everyone who took the time to post a comment about my performance of this piece!

  • that's incredible, man! how could play as perfect as you do?!! I think it completely transmit what our dear scott wanted to express.

Thanks a lot and may god bless our dear scott

  • Oh thank you for posting.........I love this song.

  • i can play that but not as good as you.

ican do the easy and shorter version.

  • Questo brano è davvero un capolavoro, in particolare nel finale. Bravo Scott!

This coposition is fantastic, expecially in the final part.

  • A REAL pleasure to hear Maple Leaf Rag played so well and at the correct tempo.

Why do people try to play it so fast???

    Perfect BRAVO

  • this type of music sounds better when it is in a very old record...

  • @KeenEyedFox

I disagree, I suppose that the rattling gives an old touch, but when you're hearing it for the first time it's nice to hear the music alone.

  • extremely well done, rhythm and timing is PERFECT

  • mmm wery well played . right tempo

  • Seeing as I am a huge fan of ragtime music, you do an incredible job in recreating this piece. Great job man, keep 'em comin'.

  • I love IT..I have been playing for 51 years by-ear and I think you play a little by-ear too..huh IT WAS GREAT..

  • Excellent! Great pace, too.

  • Hi,.. id like to tear apart your performance in 3 mins of typing, even though it took you over 15 years of education to learn this piece,... but im not retarded like everyone else that WILL leave a post,..
