Of course you can tile over a "Tiled Surface"! All you need to do is prime it first with a PVA adhesive, (Unibond) or similar. Thought that was obvious.

I Love this! Thank you :) I would like some advise on my project. I am tiling my kitchen counter, do I need to measure the space between the mosaic pieces? And also I was not too sure what that triangle shaped tool was used for? Is it nessessary? I am not doing the whole counter a mosaic, just a portion cover with the other space 4 by 4. If I can do a good job I get to try more projects in my home. Thanks again, I love your idea!!!

Tiles need to be spaced well. If the tiles touch it will be a weak spot due to the lack of grout. Counters take alot of beating, so it should be strong! The time consuming part of mosaics is cutting and arranging each tile so it all fits together with the spacing between the tiles 1/4" to 3/4". Closer to 1/4" is ideal.

The triangle tool is diamond-edged. It is harder than the tile and you use it to dull the sharp and jagged edges of broken tile before you mortar them in. Makes for asafer mosaic

i'm not an expert, i shot and edited the video. but i'm fairly certain you can't tile over a tile surface. there's not enough porosity in the tile for the mortar to adhere to. mosaics are projects that you want to do right the first time because of the time commitment.

do you think it is okay to tile over existing tile? I have tiled walls with plain white porcelain tiles in a bath...I would like to do a mosaic over this surface.
