Is it not a small school approved science experiment, which leaves no burns, & optional for 8th grade? Is it not within education to teach all the theories concerning the history of the human race? Well, if the children say "Under God" in the plege every morning and parents don't care about that, then why care about him having a bible on the desk? "Under God" is a religious statement just as having a bible on a desk. Besides, I don't remember any religion his classroom and if there was it obviously didn't make up my mind about religion.

I'm 14 and I’m catholic but stopped believing in god about 1 or 2 years ago. I'm thankful that someone shares the same beliefs as me because everyone is very judge mental about it. At my school mostly everyone has a religion and when I say sorry I don't share ur same beliefs or opinion, It makes them think that i am this sort of rebel or misguided person ...personally I think it's all bull and they need to respect my beliefs and I'll do the same!
A parent has every right to expect that they can send their child to a public school to receive an education free from the personal views of some god botherer. I can't help but laugh professors who are hardline Christians. If they are moderates, I have no problem with them, but when they are hardline fundies they are truly pathetic regardless of their academic prowess and degrees earned. In our society professors are suppose to symbolize the human potential for critical thought and learning. It is unconstitutional for the state to get involved in anyone's religion. They should not be able to tell someone whether they can or cannot leave a Bible on their desk at school. They have the right of speech (first amendment). Nobody can take that away from them. Also in that is the fact that state isn't to interfere with religion, but it never says anywhere that the religion cannot involve themselves with state. I don't think anyone claims atheism will cure the world. I personally have no problem with religion. Many people have had rules of tyranny, many have claimed it in the name of god, others in the name of communism. Terrible people will always make some excuse to be terrible; but citizens should never tolerate it. I don't thing religion made a difference.

As for capital punishment you refer to a covenant that was before Jesus came, God was extremely angry that his laws were violated and made the Jewish people walk a tight line. Why does the bible happen to be the best candidate for spiritual enlightenment? If you were to ask me, then Buddhism is a more acceptable religion to be teaching children. i got to that school and i was in that class..the subject was a science experiment about static electricity....he said that it didnt hurt and he asked us who wanted to write our names in our arms...so i raised my hand and my name was on my arm from the device...and during the debate about him getting fired he asked the students who wanted the cross on our arms..and i was one who said yes..i did it my brother did it..its no big deal its just one kid told his parents and they took it the wrong way

I'm 14 and I’m catholic but stopped believing in god about 1 or 2 years ago. I'm thankful that someone shares the same beliefs as me because everyone is very judge mental about it. At my school mostly everyone has a religion and when I say sorry I don't share ur same beliefs or opinion, It makes them think that i am this sort of rebel or misguided person ...personally I think it's all bull and they need to respect my beliefs and I'll do the same!

In our society professors are suppose to symbolize the human potential for critical thought and learning. It is unconstitutional for the state to get involved in anyone's religion. They should not be able to tell someone whether they can or cannot leave a Bible on their desk at school. They have the right of speech (first amendment). Nobody can take that away from them. Also in that is the fact that state isn't to interfere with religion, but it never says anywhere that the religion cannot involve themselves with state. People are putting their pressures on themselves with the Bible. DEAL WITH IT!!

I don't think anyone claims atheism will cure the world. I personally have no problem with religion. Many people have had rules of tyranny, many have claimed it in the name of god, others in the name of communism. Terrible people will always make some excuse to be terrible; but citizens should never tolerate it. I don't thing religion made a difference.

It seems odd to me that this girl who says she is an activist gets so upset over a Teacher telling kids that God created the earth. She say's the teacher "got busted" for Teaching creation (Which is a theory just like Evolution is). Maybe she should turn activist against the female Teacher molesting young boys fad that is sweeping the nation.

Maybe he could put the bible in the desk where nobody can see it. Because preaching that stuff in schools not right. Although to me it's NOT a big deal that he has it on the desk. But I can see how it would bother some people. I'm not religious, but it doesn't bother me at all. People should be allowed to show their faith even if people disagree with it.

The lesson in Matthew wasn't about keeping God's word a secret. You should quote the other parts of the Bible that talk about spreading the word of God so people know the entire truth. A half truth is the same thing as a lie.

They want to force children to be raised to believe in their god and be denied the opportunity to learn about science and history.

As for capital punishment you refer to a covenant that was before Jesus came, God was extremely angry that his laws were violated and made the Jewish people walk a tight line. That is no longer the case, where in the new covenant bought by Jesus, we do have many freedoms, and the rules are there to help us stay healthy and in good spiritual condition.

But, since the fine print on your ticket says "you must repeat the doctrine", you can't admit that the bible has nothing to do with our government.

Why do you think they used the word creator instead of the word god? Its true that most of the men that signed the Declaration held some sort of belief in god, so why not say so if that were their intention?
Did you know that Jefferson's origin draft didn't use the word creator? Did you know how much opposition he faced in getting it signed? He had to compromise on almost everything - including the issue of slavery.
But that one word sums it all up to you.

i got to that school and i was in that class..the subject was a science experiment about static electricity....he said that it didnt hurt and he asked us who wanted to write our names in our arms...so i raised my hand and my name was on my arm from the device...and during the debate about him getting fired he asked the students who wanted the cross on our arms..and i was one who said yes..i did it my brother did it..its no big deal its just one kid told his parents and they took it the wrong way

A public school teacher is a public servant - a representative of the state. Displaying the bible in a public building by a public servant prohibits the free exercise of the students religious beliefs.
