  • Nina Stemme is a superb singer: unique sound, amazing control and a true dramatic soprano in terms of size and quality. Her speciality is undoubtly the germanic repertoire and is probably one of the greates wagnerian singers in recorded history. Her Agathe in Freischutz, Leonora in Fidelio but especially Senta, Brunnhilde and Isolde are all superb. I would love to her her as Marie in Wozzeck or Elektra. All the best Nina!

  • Nina Stemme arguably has the best dramatic soprano voice of all at the moment. She has the force and the strength, and a fabulous technique, but she also has wonderful lyrical qualities. She could improve her diction, she opens her mouth very wide and too evenly for every vowel.

  • she sings great, and she's a babe!

  • Brava!!! Its a proper ballad for once not a string of awkward Gs...And she's still sounding great today

    thank you for posting

  • Brilliant ballance in orchestra which in this opera is so heavy and needs conductor special attention particularly in brasses. well done.

  • well whatt can i say she is brilliant but lets not compare

  • I'd let her swap my poopdeck.

  • @Gargantupimp what, is that supposed to be a metaphor for changing your diaper whenever you shit yourself? You're disgusting!

  • @NazTb0y you said it not me. neways id let her climb my mast all the way to the top. then she could clean my cannon balls. and of course see if the cannons are still shootin off

  • @Gargantupimp nope. you said it, I interpreted it (not sure how else poop-deck could be a metaphor). Anyway, now you're saying, you want her to see "if" the cannons are still shooting... What's the matter, are you impotent? Not sure if the goods still work? Hey, if you want to say you want to fuck her, just say you want to fuck her. Your embarrassingly bad metaphors are a lot more offensive to my ears. Either way, if you're getting that vulgar about Wagner, you're kind of missing the sublimity.

  • @Gargantupimp Also, your ship metaphor kind of sucks (no pun intended). The cannons of a ship aren't located on top of the mast, nor are the cannonballs. Also, there are definitely two penises and God knows how many testicles in your ship-body metaphor. Are you trying to say you have a second dick growing out of your head in addition to the one on your groin?

  • @NazTb0y for somebody named nasty boy you sure are virgin... girls like to hear that kind of shit foo it gets their pink tacos all stinky. you should be writing down and memorizing my metaphors for future use with the ladies...

  • @Gargantupimp my name is NazTb0y b/c I'm not afraid to be rude, not b/c I'm disgusting. You live up to your name. Want to be a gargantuan pimp? Stick to the whores! Beautiful sopranos are classy. It's perfectly ok to admire them & fall in love, but if you're looking for something to get off on, you're watching the wrong video my friend.

  • This is better than her Verdi, I heard the whole thing, and was quite impressed.

  • Nina Stemme, the best Wagnerian soprano currently singing, following in the tradition of Kirsten Flagstad and Birgit Nilsson. Her Senta is terrific. I hope she continues to set the bar high for Isolde, Elisabeth hope she sings Kundry, Sieglende and Brunnhilde if she hasn't already.

  • @MastersoftheOpera her voice is closer to Flagstad than Nilsson.. Nilsson 's upper register was far more brilliant than either Flagstad or Stemme. and if I had to pick one, I would pick Nilsson.

  • @MastersoftheOpera You are not going to be at Stemme's Brünnhilde in San Francisco? It should be splendid. After Nilsson, there is no one but Nina.

  • @rumpwrestler you really think so? That's a pretty big gap you have there. What about Gwyneth Jones? What about Anne Evans? What about Waltraud Meyer? I'm a big fan of Evans' Brünnhilde, as I'm a big fan of Barenboim's Ring at Bayreuth generally.

  • Where is this and when ?

  • Vienna, 2003.

  • Bravo Nina

  • Superb!

  • Bravo! Nina Stemme has everything - a wonderful instrument, acting talent, good looks, and that certain "something", too. What an incredible voice!

  • @Sieglinde84 Stemme's rendition of this aria is one of the best in my list of the best.

  • Maintenant qu'on a à nouveau des bons chanteurs... Faudrait faire quelque chose pour les mises en scène.

  • This is fantastic.

Did someone happen to tape Stemme's Strauss program the other day (was on radio in Europe .. don't recall where exactly)?

  • I've not heard of her, but I live in St. Louis where not much opera happens and certainly not Wagner. She's wonderful. I love the subtitles. Thank you for posting.

  • does anyone know if we can expect this performance on dvd? it's spectacular.

  • absolut überwältigend... ich hab nie zuvor über sie gehört, aber jetzt bin ich ein fan von ihr.

  • It is great performence. And she voice is great. But the decoration is awful!

  • ŞAHANE BİRŞEY BU: Teşekkürler....

  • It's so great to hear Wagner's music sung with beauty, nuance and dramatic commitment. Unfortunately many times we only see large unruly voices who can't make these great melodies as beautiful and expressive as they should. Stemme is one of the best examples of dramatic but beautiful, flowing singing.

  • Her voice is really wonderful for this. She has a nice touch of italian warmth to her voice too and sings it in a truly bel canto manner like wagner intended.

  • She is an artist. Great performance.
