One thing: Obama isn't Catholic, but being a politician in Chicago he had to develop a relationship with all the churches. Father Fleiger (whose name I can't spell) is an activist preacher/politician whose known for inflammatory rhetoric, which is usually well received depending on the audience. Obviously, the guy had a point to make in his rant but made it in a way that hurt his friend: Obama. Obama had to quit the church: suddenly an activist church turned into a political liability.

I said that so Dem pres Candidates had asked McCain to be their VP. That in no Way suggests there is only one party. But it does say that all this ridiculous McCain attacks is hypocrisy. Further, McCain is a centrist. He is very close to being a Democrate in lots of ways. He is way different from conservatives in many ways. One of the problems McCain has is that conservatives have trouble warming up to him.

For the record, I am not guilty of perpetrating any ridiculous attacks on McCain. I was critical of the practices of 2 preachers that supported him because it is clear that they incite people to hate and fear. I suppose that followers of those cults are easy marks to support pseudo-religious wars.

I do not think I made my reply to you if I did I should have post my first comment into another. There are people calling him a maniac etc. Yet they would be pleased with him if he was their vp. The same thing can be said for Joe Lieberman lots of Dems attack him daily, but he was a god and could do no wrong a few years ago. Likewise,

I did not find Pastor Wright's remarks as offensive as I do the remarks of the "pastors" whose support McCain courted, then had to renounce, like Rod Pasley and John Hagee. Parsley thinks that the USA exists to rid the world of Islam. McCain knew this when he went after their support. That, in my mind, makes him dangerous.

Pastor Wright, by contrast, simply stated that God should damn a nation that makes war for profit and denies citizens their dignity.

Hagee and Parsely feed on the fear of the uneducated and the greed of those with degrees but no wisdom. They need people who do not understand the scriptures. Hagee calls the Catholic Church the Harlot of Revelations, but I favor the Jehova's Witnesses' interpretation of the Harlot as the Church gone whoring after mundane power. The Catholic Church ordered priests to stop running for political office long ago. Hagee and Parsely are running their own candidate.

You R right about what they feed on lefty s. The problem is the world doesn't need preachers or imams that don't understand, or are not qualified, to understand scriptures. Often they are close minded people who are haters themselves. Such "experts" add Apocalyptic ideas, and predictions that are the product of their feeble imaginations, & are rooted in fundamentalism, with the intent of controlling their followers, through fear. A massive effort to educate people is what's required.

Speaking of scriptures, I would advise the righties to look at the prophesies concerning the future of Mesopotamia. In the Book of Daniel, the dream of the idol fortells what will happen if there is a holy war between Islam (represented by clay) and Christianity (represented by pellets of iron.) Doesn't look to me like either would win. God resents having His hand forced.
