  • Not bad at all, I do think for as small as the windows were you could have picked better shots to introduce the crew. I think there's at least one close-up head shot of every character in the series. Also...why did you give Doohan last billing? lol. I think he was like one rung below Kelley in the hierarchy of importance. I would have given it to Koenig. Chekov was the least showcased member of the cast, even though he was an ensign I always felt like his role was the young, inexperienced cadet

  • Like it or Not but JJ Abrams Star Trek is TOS just Alternate Reality, thats why the Enterprise is Different. and anybody who hates it should be called "Original Fan" and there are millions

  • I came here just to "Dislike" this vid.

  • @ThePeter74Peter

You're a sad little man if you think spreading negativity will make you feel better...

    It just repels people!

  • @AvengerII It attracted you, didn't it?

  • F**k everyone who hates this. I think it's neat.

  • I'm sorry, J.J. Abrams should never had gotten anywhere near the TOS legacy. He screwed up Gene Roddenberry's vision. George Kirk should never had died on the Kelvin and Jim Kirk, as brash as he was, was still a lot more polished than the Abrams' Kirk.

  • Anybody connecting the original STAR TREK in any way to JJ Abrams "Star trek" like film doesn't understand TOS... Just my opinion, and I'm entitled to it.

  • @dynagirlsdaddy

You're also entitled to be wrong and completely miss the point...

By the mid-1980s, even Gene Roddenberry didn't understand what Star Trek was about.

Know your history --- not the propaganda fandom believes.

  • @AvengerII He was confused because he lost control in 1968 and never got it back from the company. The Original point was solid.

  • Liked your concept, but not the music. Only one bit of criticism: DeForest Kelley was only a "co-star" for the first season. He was always given equal billing with Shatner and Nimoy as "star" after that both on the small and big screen.

  • @jtkirkfan2002

That's okay. At least you weren't a jerk about your difference in opinion about the mustic.

Kelley earned his spot in Trek.

I knew TOS was dead after he died in 1999.

He was that important to the heart and soul of that series.

With him gone, that really was the end of TOS...

  • Horrible!

  • Without the TOS themesong, you took the heart out of this opening. Sorry. This is a no go.

  • @hakavon

I think you miss the point completely.

Look, the first Trek film opened WITHOUT a note from the Alexander Courage theme. You didn't hear any note from that theme until after Spock appears on the Enterprise to help repair the warp drive. The score to that film is widely considered among the best of the series. You don't need to hear the original theme ad nauseam.

Star Trek is not about a ship or a piece of music. It's about the people in the stories!

  • @AvengerII That is not correct. The first use of Alexander Courage's original theme is during Kirk's first log entry before the first warp attempt. That is before Spock arrives. The lack of TOS music was a decision by Roddenberry, trying to set the movie apart from is humble TV beginnings. It was a mistake if you ask me and the studio apparently agreed since Star Trek II was full of TOS musical cues.

  • The comment about looking like the big E was firing on the station was right on. Also, the comment about using a clip of the Enterprise shuttle vs. an actual spaceworthy shuttle is accurate. Otherwise, a very rousing into and very well done. My suggestion would be to cut back on the number of Botany Bay shots. With so many new remastered clips available, it should be pretty easy to add other dramatic footage without being repetitive. Nicely done, though!

  • @chpmatt

Yeah, if only I owned TOS remastered on DVD or could get the clips off the Blu ray discs!

I could only get the shots off of the "Best of" DVD singles.

  • dude, Loved it..one of the best ones I have ever saw

  • Interesting use of the historical clips to get the ST: Enterprise element, but the editing of the firepower clips made it look like Kirk is firing on K-7! Plus, the comedic bit of Chekov pointlessly pummeling a Klingon didn't quite fit the feel of the music. I liked the visual compositions however, and felt the star credits were where it all came together in this video.

  • Too long. Too many visual elements. Many folks might not understand the aircraft carrier and shuttle references. Especially since the shuttle Enterprise was never launched into space.

  • Most awesome Star Trek intro I've ever watched.

  • Great idea, this - some of the clips could've been tweaked a bit, but generally very good.
