Just play this for your parents when they say hip hop and too explicit. It get no more explicit than this ladies and gentlemen hahahah. And I'm sure this was wayyyy before your parents were born. So if they give you the line, "back in my day music was not about profanity" Smack this in their face. Though I gotta say Jelly did it with style and class, in harmony ahahaha and rhythm
I bought the unedited library of congress recordings years ago. He did some very pornographic versions of tunes like "make me a pallet" . This is the kind of stuff that made him famous in the red light districts.
@pianiplunker To me there isn't much different from this music and the music you might hear in a rap club today... and still got the same shakin going on..
@Ragtime4 This is the same concept of the insult battles that made Eminem famous. Most people in the ragtime community hate rap and hip hop but strangely approve of this.
@pianiplunker I hate that polite "museum-mentality" approach to jazz and blues history. This song is a good indicator to were these musicans came from. Rap and hip hop come from the same musical legacy as Jazz and Blues.
@Shadowlily21 If you listen to the entire library of congress recordings Lomax asked Morton to recreate some blues heard in the honkytonks in the district but he would not do it unless Lomax wife left the room.
This is rap music! WOOOOW! In 1908!
