  • WOW, that quality is amazing for a video that was recorded in 2000

  • I taped this race on vhs. There were no replays that day. I still have the tape. A miracle he survived.

  • HD in 2000? Damn, Spielberg should hire you...

  • Wow great footage this is the best i have ever seen for this

  • WOW, this is the first time I've seen this angle of that wreck. Just shows you just how fast the trucks are going because when he comes off the fence (almost stopped in mid-air) and then gets hit again it just launches his truck like a toy. Unbelievable, I watched the race live and thought for sure he was gone and the trucks would never race at Daytona again, thankfully he recovered and for the most part the trucks still put on the best show during speed weeks.

  • Way better than ESPN

  • If you watch the other views you see a cop when the fireball goes. That is my exgf step dad.

  • Driver escaped with no injuries ! Imagine what would have happened if the car got into the public...

  • @TheEverlastingSM well not quite. The driver was actually in the hospital for a few months clinging to life followed by months of rehab as well as a few injuries to those in the stands. But yeah, that catch fence saved the series from pretty much getting shut down

  • @69mopar440 Definitely. Without the catch fencing being as strong as it is, it could have possibly been a wreck a la Le Mans 1955.

  • looks like final destination

  • who was the first guy that fliped

  • @wcwfan33412 It was Randy Renfrow and he didn't flip, he just went on his side: /watch?v=ol8GHhXnwmo

  • The networks should put a camera down there

  • this is the best footage i've ever seeen of any track

  • Why didnt they use these cameras for the brodcasts? HD FTW

  • the catchfence really does tear everything to shreds.

  • @JaddKaizanMC It wasn't the catchfense but the pole holding the catchfence.

  • why does this seem fake?

  • @YouTuble13567 It's not.

  • 0:54 The 99 Truck of Kurt Busch was lucky as hell.

  • Wow. 1080p in the year 2000!? Most TV networks couldn't do that back then.

  • 1080p HD FTW

  • Are you a professional cameraman? If your not, you should be! :)

  • its a beeter view from there

  • i have one question... how the fuck did he survive?

  • Damn, that's a good camera.

  • never ever saw this angle shows you why bodine wasnt terribly hurt i always thoguht top of truck hit the fence

  • CAUTION IS OUT FOR DEBRIS

  • whoa who was that at 0:13 and is there any other footage of it?

  • @ACDCsuperfan91 Joe Ruttman (#18), Bobby Hamilton (#4), Randy Renfrow (#41), Randy Tolsma (#25), and Marty Houston (#75) crash in the tri-oval.

  • @ACDCsuperfan91 Joe Ruttman (#18), Bobby Hamilton (#4), Randy Renfrow (#41), Randy Tolsma (#25), and Marty Houston (#75) crash in the tri-oval.

  • @ACDCsuperfan91 Put in : NASCAR Craftsman Trucks at Daytona 2000: (pt.6/16)

  • The #4 truck is actually Bobby Hamilton

  • this veiw was better than any veiw they had on tv.

  • man hes super lucky hes not dead

  • There was more of the truck scattered on the track than what was still on the truck.

  • Geoff Bodine talks about the accident on our channel, see the ON THE RUN playlist

  • Did he die?

  • @cjdawg892 no

  • I saw Geoff Bodine's truck today in a museum with other wrecked cars. Unbelievable. The cockpit was completely exposed. The roll bars were bent severely as well. Not only did they have the truck, but they had the motor sitting right next to it on the floor. Geoff is certainly a lucky man.

  • i'm quite amazed with this angle. i thought that the catch fence just shreded his truck. instead it just shreded his front and right side then he fliped. there was also a fire so it was still near fatal.

  • wow just amazing, this and the goodys crash. Did they finish this race? and how badly was the fence damaged?

  • I'm not sure how that guy in the first wreck didn't flip..

  • What WAS that first wreck?!?!

  • hey man what's the ambient song at the end from?

  • It just make you say "Wow how did live?"

  • How did that Renfrow car not flip?

  • Wow, never knew a low-angle shot of that wreck existed.

  • Just crazy in the slow-mo to watch the hood of that truck just melt away, thanks for sharing.

  • This was one of the scariest, most gut-wrenching moments I ever experienced watching NASCAR... but you know, Bodine was one of the guys responsible for making NASCAR safer than it was in the rough old days. It was good to see it pay off in a personal way for him, and is good to know that he's still got the fire inside.

Really excellent footage you got, there. Thank you very much for sharing it.

  • Incredible footage. You should work for one of the NASCAR networks. I've never seen an angle like this one before this video..it's crazy how the back end of the car whipped around after hitting the fence.

  • DAM NICE CAP OF THE WRECK WOW AND IN HD WOW I WAS IN SEAGRAVE TOWER WHEN THAT HAPPEN

  • man great photography i seriously put this in my favorites, that was one terrible wreck

  • at 0:13, did that truck go upside down?

  • @Kaseythehusky it was Randy Renfrow and no he just got up on two wheels Youtube search 'NASCAR Craftsman Trucks at Daytona 2000: (pt.6/16)'

  • these wrecks should never happen. OMG that was flippen big

  • look at the debris

  • incredible capture.

  • bodine had a near miss at 0:11

  • Amazing footage. It really shows how Bodine's truck got pushed into the catch fence and torn up like it was run across a cheese grater. Did NASCAR ever see this footage or did anybody ask for it, to use it in examining how the truck came apart and if anything could be learned for future safety?

  • better than ESPN, hell they need to hire you as a camera-man. they could use it.

  • @SaintBEEP haha nice mann

  • wow i wish there more videos from the pit stop

    good thing Geoff was safe

  • Best show I have seen. Incredible

  • Best shots ever seen of this wreck. It really actually shows you what happened to his truck, the TV doesn't show it almost freeze and then grab and rotate the truck... or how it slowed down dramatically before being hit by other trucks. Incredible. Thanks for posting this!

  • Damn. That is an astounding shot. None of us really got to see what happened to his truck until after he came out of the fireball. This type of shot really helps to understand the nature of the crash better, and it's excellent footage. I still can't believe that he survived, with relatively minor injuries too!

As you can see, his saving grace would seem to be that he never did suffer a sudden stop. That, and Lonnie Rush Jr. seemed to hit the undercarriage rather than the top of the cage.

  • @systematicchaos I remember that these trucks were running without a restricter plate when they first race at Daytona back in 2000.

  • best shot of this wreck i have ever seen!

  • No, he did not die, but was quite banged up. In fact, Geoff Bodine came back and raced on a very limited basis afterwards, and is now involved in a program where he helps develop the bobsled for the U.S. Olympic team.

  • did he die?

  • did the car at :13 flip?

  • @nascargavin8 no he just got on his side

  • Now, this actually shows what happend to his truck. You cant see anything from the original angle.

  • Its amazing from that angle you see how nasty that hit from Lonnie Rush was I never knew how hard that was from the TV angle

And its amazing how Renfrow didnt flip that truck

  • Incredible footage; thank you so much for sharing it.

  • Wow. To be fair the accident doesn't look as bad from this angle. If you look at the cockpit it doesn't seem to stop as badly as the tv angle. Still a hell of a crash though.

  • @insanebackflip199 Bobby Hamilton (4) and idk the others

  • Wow good angle. That fence mangled that car.

  • great footage and who was in the first crash

  • @insanebackflip199 randy Renfrow was the one that almost flipped. Check out Part 6 of this race, it shows the crash coverage there.

  • wow.. i never knew this angle existed.. great footage. i remember watching this live

  • i was there

  • this shot really shows you what exactly happened in this wreck it was hard to tell from the tv shots....when you think about it now dennis setzers crash this year at talladega could have been just like this one but thankfully was not as bad

  • Unbelievable...

  • ive always wondered what happened because you cant see from the tv camera through all the flames. great capture and qaulity especially from a camera from 2000.

  • the crash looks alot different from this view. on the tv it looks like it just flew directly into the fence but this shows how it like crawled up the wall

  • Interesting. I did not know that Kurt drove the #99 in 2000. Also, this is some of the best footage I've seen of this accident. Keep up the good work.

  • amazing vid! great work.

  • If the 27 never hit him he would of landed on the wheels. Actually if the truck that got into bodine didn't spin up into bodine when he hit the fence, it would of been bad at all. You learn slot from this view.

  • ive never seen this before. this shows how he got into pieces like he did.

  • The trucks today are no where near as exciting as they use to in these days. Full bore racing = awesome. But these trucks werent as safe as they are today. Take the tapered spacers off the trucks and you would see more exciting racing. Plus, the side windows arent really necessary.

  • Look how the 88 truck got through that one. Wow. Awesome quality by the way.

  • man i would love to see if you have more. excellent quality for its time.

  • It is amazimg how that fence tore up the body like a cheese grader. Unbelievable.

  • I always thought that Geoff's truck just flew up into the fence and caught fire, didn't realize that it rolled a couple of times first.

And the music at the end....wow

  • You should get tons of views for this vid, spectacular footage you got there! :D

  • Wow.. insane. Do you work on one of the teams?

  • Wow....This is an awesome shot dude.

  • you sir, are going to become famous with this video. what an amazing capture in such amazing quality.

  • oh man this is an incredible angle of the crash

  • Holy shit! That other guy at 15:00 almost flipped to

  • wow, this whole time i thought his truck hit the wall and started barrel-rolling along the fence, leading to the fireball, but what actually happened was the front of the truck was just grated off by the fence posts. absolutely incredible

  • at :30 there is a picture from the same angle on google

  • Dude excellent capture. faved. :)

  • When I shot this, Bodine's truck came off the fence and was immediately punted by the #27 truck of Lonnie Rush Jr.; this sudden and additional upward burst of motion caused me to quickly "zoom out" to try and locate Bodine's truck again. In slo-motion you can see this occur, and equally amazing is separation of the small-block engine in a tumbling fireball, plus complete front end suspension parts.

  • @minirod2007 This comment may be a little besides the point, but with the way technology moves forward, for the year 2000,you must have had one of the best cameras money could buy then. The quality is awesome.I was sitting in the line of fire at CA speedway when Greg Moore was killed, and being this close to the action is scary as hell.

  • this angle is more incredible because it shows how the truck hit the fencing and how the 27 truck hit geoff

  • First crash of the race finds rookie Kurt Busch (#99 Exide Batteries) sideways, causing Marty Houston's blue machine (#4) to lose control and make contact with rear of Randy Renfrow (#41), who "almost" flips, but somehow does not.

  • Strange, from the original angle, I thought that Bodine's truck went COMPLETELY into the fencing (left-side first). From this new one, though, can see that the nose "catching" the fence (and the #27 hit him right after) made this crash more devastating!

  • who fliped at 15.0

  • @Nas49Razing

That was Randy Renfrow, but he didn't flip (he sure came close to doing just that, though).

  • dumb question but what was the first crash

  • That really is incredible footage. Never imagined pit road footage would exist.

  • Amazing that this is only now being seen after 10 years!

  • Where did you find that footage? Is it yours? If it is not, could I have the original please :) Awesome, SUBSCRIBING

  • Of course I mean a viral copy of the original! ;)

  • All the more incredible from having to shoot between heads and shoulders along enormously crowded pit wall!!

  • wow ive never seen this angle before except in pictures. good find, totally Favorited.
