SSGT Barry Sadler, great man and fantastic combat medic. He put his money where his mouth was and spent his life helping children all around the world from vietnam to guatamala where he was assasinated in the 1980's. I remember hearing this on armed forces radio.
my dad was part of charlie company 75th rangers in vietnam. he died april 16th of 2011 thanks to cancer and agent orange. just thought id say that because his bday is here soon. either way i almost forgot how good a record sounded. thank you for postin this.
HiOctane62, I lost my oldest brother PFC Daniel Wayne Stutler, USMC on 4 July 1966 in Vietnam. If you look at the original album cover it says SSgt Barry Sadler as I have the album. SSG or SSgt makes no difference they are still the same rank equivalency.

@HiOctane62 Back during the Vietnam era SSgt. was the proper abbreviation for Staff Sergeant unlike today's SSG. What is written on all the old records and record jackets was correct for the time.
@HiOctane62 actually to be technical in the 60's when he served in the Green Berets it was abbrieviated as SSGT. Only in the 80's was it changed to SSG.

@dog1575 I am a US Army Vietnam veteran (4th IDiv/USASA) 1967-68. NEVER FORGET that we won the Vietnam War. What? YES! We have no permanent bases in RVN, they have never attacked the USA, we have free trade, you can tour the RVN, many Vietnamese have come to the USA as solid citizens, there were no "domino" counties to the Soviets, etc...WE WON IN RVN!! Never forget. There are STILL forces in Germany, Korea, etc. But WE WON and came home from Vietnam!! NEVER FORGET THAT WE WON!
@LasVegasJim you are a sucker who gave the best years of your life to the greedy, wealthy American leaders who trade the poor and middle class youth for more money and control.
@MrFootfree02 I enlisted for 4 years in the US Army because I flunked-out of university at age 18, and my job ended after summer 1965. I was overseas for three years--volunteered for Vietnam 67-68. The “best years” (as you claim) of my life were when I got out and prospered in many ways from what I experienced. I could have been killed countless times, and it gave me respect for my blessings. I honor the heroes on “The Wall”, the many who were wounded, and the wives who raised kids alone.
@MrFootfree02 and you sir are obviously a wanker. Very easy for csuckers like you to try and demean the sacrifice of all deployed to Vietnam. Try standing before the wall and read the names of so many young Americans who died there.Look around the Rolls of Honour of Amreicas allies in that war. All young men who probably had more integrity in their little finger than a wanker like you.The Vietnam Vets deserve our respect. The idiots that were in control probably not
American wealthy men send the children of the poor and middle class off to war to die for the past 100 years. The Americans also have screwed the American Indians, used black people for slavery, and sent Asian Americans to Internment/concentration camps to die in 1945 because they were Asian Americans. They also killed the Kenndy family,Martin Luther King,John Lennon, and even killed Sharon tate and left Roman Polanski alone!!!

@Ydontyougosuckone696 The rich do not send the poor to fight and die. People choose to fight and die for their country. It's a calling in life and if you don't have it, you will never understand. Sure we've killed a lot of people who did not deserve to die but that's the harsh reality of this world. And as for John Lennon, that hippie deserved to die.
