  • SSGT Barry Sadler, great man and fantastic combat medic. He put his money where his mouth was and spent his life helping children all around the world from vietnam to guatamala where he was assasinated in the 1980's. I remember hearing this on armed forces radio.

  • Check out agent orange lagacy children of vietnam vets !!

  • i WAS ON THE LAST FREEDOM BIRD OUUTA phan rang when venaf took over base...I love this song ssgt Kasson usaf hon discharged.

  • when you get green shit fired at you...you will love this song !

  • RIP Brother Charlie. And thank you.

  • my dad was part of charlie company 75th rangers in vietnam. he died april 16th of 2011 thanks to cancer and agent orange. just thought id say that because his bday is here soon. either way i almost forgot how good a record sounded. thank you for postin this.

  • @1sniper408 what year was he in nam iam was also with 75th ranger

  • Thank you for sharing.

  • HiOctane62, I lost my oldest brother PFC Daniel Wayne Stutler, USMC on 4 July 1966 in Vietnam. If you look at the original album cover it says SSgt Barry Sadler as I have the album. SSG or SSgt makes no difference they are still the same rank equivalency.

  • that is lofi on steroids nice job

  • hey las vegas jim its all the assholes like you who have sold america out you probably cheered on 0/11 you fuckin dickhead

  • Back then, It WAS "SSgt". They changed the abreviations in the late 70's.

  • God Bless SSgt Barry Sadler. Love every song on this album.

  • great record i still have the 45

  • This should be played on the radio more often. Love it.

  • i think you would avoid the trolling if you just wrote Staff Sergeant

  • thank you so much for posting this video!!

  • I had the Green Beret 33 vinyl. Haven't heard this song in a long time.

  • LOL. lived it. we ALL wanted to come home. wanted to leave Jane FKN Fonda there and drop just one fkn BIG one. only wish Sean Penn could meet the same fate. freekin' cowards/collaborators. deserve to be stripped of their citizenship. they've already shucked their dignity. LOSERS

  • My step father was a green beret in vietnam

  • @luvyournylons Negative you are incorrect.

  • it's SSG not Ssgt.

  • @HiOctane62 I just type what it says on the label (and check it 2 or 3 times).

  • @1LoFi45 At one time, it was Ssgt. It later was shortened to SSG.

  • @HiOctane62 actually it's SSGT

  • @HiOctane62

it depends to the Army it's SSG if your Air Force like me it's SSgt

  • @HiOctane62 Back during the Vietnam era SSgt. was the proper abbreviation for Staff Sergeant unlike today's SSG. What is written on all the old records and record jackets was correct for the time.

  • @HiOctane62 it is SSgt.

  • @HiOctane62 to end this... its different by service. SSG is only Army abbreviation. Marines and Air Force use SSgt.

  • @HiOctane62 actually to be technical in the 60's when he served in the Green Berets it was abbrieviated as SSGT. Only in the 80's was it changed to SSG.

  • I hope this is posted forever. Many young people do not know what a record really is. Nor a turn table. Most haven't seen a rotary phone and could not call their parents if they had one because they wouldn't know the number.

Hell to get old ain't it.

    Just an old vet reflecting.

  • i like it!

good song, but they will never win the war...

  • Isn't this the guy that murdered Lee Emerson?

  • great song many a good men died i lost many friends, and fuck all you little cum stains who cry we should,nt have been there.and less you were there you dont know shit

  • @dog1575 I am a US Army Vietnam veteran (4th IDiv/USASA) 1967-68. NEVER FORGET that we won the Vietnam War. What? YES! We have no permanent bases in RVN, they have never attacked the USA, we have free trade, you can tour the RVN, many Vietnamese have come to the USA as solid citizens, there were no "domino" counties to the Soviets, etc...WE WON IN RVN!! Never forget. There are STILL forces in Germany, Korea, etc. But WE WON and came home from Vietnam!! NEVER FORGET THAT WE WON!

  • @LasVegasJim THANK YOU.

  • @2012vote You're welcome. Thanks as well.

  • @LasVegasJim you are a sucker who gave the best years of your life to the greedy, wealthy American leaders who trade the poor and middle class youth for more money and control.

  • @MrFootfree02 I enlisted for 4 years in the US Army because I flunked-out of university at age 18, and my job ended after summer 1965. I was overseas for three years--volunteered for Vietnam 67-68. The “best years” (as you claim) of my life were when I got out and prospered in many ways from what I experienced. I could have been killed countless times, and it gave me respect for my blessings. I honor the heroes on “The Wall”, the many who were wounded, and the wives who raised kids alone.

  • @MrFootfree02 don't belittle your betters :)

  • @MrFootfree02 and you sir are obviously a wanker. Very easy for csuckers like you to try and demean the sacrifice of all deployed to Vietnam. Try standing before the wall and read the names of so many young Americans who died there.Look around the Rolls of Honour of Amreicas allies in that war. All young men who probably had more integrity in their little finger than a wanker like you.The Vietnam Vets deserve our respect. The idiots that were in control probably not

  • Americans had no right to be in Vietnam!

I'm glad vietnamese people won the war.

But i still love that song!

  • @mahilamahila they dint win the war

  • days of the record player loved them .....

  • American wealthy men send the children of the poor and middle class off to war to die for the past 100 years. The Americans also have screwed the American Indians, used black people for slavery, and sent Asian Americans to Internment/concentration camps to die in 1945 because they were Asian Americans. They also killed the Kenndy family,Martin Luther King,John Lennon, and even killed Sharon tate and left Roman Polanski alone!!!

  • @Ydontyougosuckone696

You are a communist, cock-sucker. You are the enemy of America.

  • @bmotx The truth hurts you doesnt it you worthless weasel squeezer???

  • @Ydontyougosuckone696

The truth is, you are the enemy of America. And your insecurities cause you to be a bitter, jealous, whiney, little homo.

  • @bmotx the truth is,you are living proof of why cousins shouldnt be allowed to fornacate.

  • @Ydontyougosuckone696

Attractive women don't like you. You only get laid by grenades, paid-prostitutes or trannies.

  • @bmotx Im sitting in a whorehouse right here in Hanoi trying to talk your big sister out of buttfucking and ass sucking the entire bar just to pay for your Meth habit back home.Dont you think that forcing your own sister to perform cunnalingas and tougue-alingas is alittle rude at age 62?

  • @Ydontyougosuckone696 The rich do not send the poor to fight and die. People choose to fight and die for their country. It's a calling in life and if you don't have it, you will never understand. Sure we've killed a lot of people who did not deserve to die but that's the harsh reality of this world. And as for John Lennon, that hippie deserved to die.

  • @TheGreenPander Vietnam will tell you all you need to know about the United States of America and how many "rights" you truely are entitled to.

  • @TheGreenPander I bet it was really that calling that led so many to join and not impending poverty, jail time, etc. and the draft, of course. Idiot.

  • many of us now write to our own sons and daughters in

    afghanistan.

may our Lord protect them all and let them get home safely

  • I love it, thanks for posting!

  • Oh boy original tracks sound so BEAUTIFUL. Rest in Peace SSgt Barry Sadler

  • There goes the trolls below me

  • Y IN THE WORLD ARE U DISCUSSING ABOUT HOMOSEXUALS ON THIS. ITS ABOUT OUR TROOPS. PP PP WAKE UP AND SMELL THE COFFEE ITS ABOUT OUR FREEDOM AND WHAT OUR TROOPS HAVE TO GO THROUGH!!1

  • Over eighty percent of Green Berets are admitted Homosexuals.

  • @fawkyou3 Thats absolutely the most ridiculous thing I think I have ever heard someone say. You must be modertately to severly mentally retarded... I was in the Army I was in an Airborne unit that worked with SF almost all the time.. trust me not a one of them was homo.. NOT ONE.. so do us all a favor and shut up..

  • Jeez,

I thought Green Beret was bad but this is truly appalling.

Solves the mystery surrounding Sadlers death.

He was killed by a music lover!!!!

  • i love this song

  • Wow... memories...

Got the LP that had this song, Ballad of the G.B., and about 10 other songs all together. Still got it in a cabinet along with about 200 other LPs from the 50s, 60s & 70s. Sure brought back those old memories...........

  • every soldier gripes about wanting to go home ,but in the end they will tell you it was the best adventure they have been on

  • Quote ''Military men are dumb, stupid animals to be used as pawns for foreign policy'' -Henry Kissinger, Trilateral Commission

  • @mrdeleuze Could you please give more information on this quote for example your source. Thank you

  • I haven't heard that record in 45 years. What a memory.

  • Chiiling.Haunting Beautiful.

  • I have the original Album. WHen I was young I would play these songs over and over and stare at Barry Sadler's face on the album cover.... Everyone I knew in Viet Nam came home, though not as they had been. I have lost several friends in Iraq and Afghanistan, even some who came home.

  • sent this song to my nephew- a paratrooper in afghanistan. Nephew " Just change the post mark to afghanistan. The song remains true." God bless America

  • God Bless our vam vets. Those boys are the reason that combat vets get any respect when we come at all. Thank you so very much!

  • My brother died Nov 2006 of complications from surgery to take out the cancer in is throat. He, along with more worked on the planes of operation Ranch Hand. He recieved VA care from 1975 until his death. Ranch Hand was the name of the code name for the spreading of the de-foilants used through out SE Asia during the"conflict" RIP Brother Charlie. Miss you

  • Yes bombs did wreck jungle but agent orange was what killed it along with everything it fell on

  • like my uncle you mean

  • nice so nice

  • Cool song had forgotten it. and God i love people lmao

  • You need to get your fact straight he died in 1989 in Murfreesboro, TN

  • Instead of being an ass about it ,it would be a bit more respectful of you to say...did you know,or you stand corrected.

I have read the article since posting my comment and i am sorry you got so butt hurt over trivia...oh, I forgot you know it all.

please, no reply, I will just mark you as spam.

  • Who? SSgt Sadler? He died in Guatemala

  • De Oppresso Liber is latin which mean to liberated the oppress.most military words are in latin. Danalpha01

  • Leter from Vietnam:

Help, help, Im sourounded from Charlie, please drop Napalm and Agend Orand everywere !!!

  • huh? how can you be surounded from something, and what is agend orange?

  • Agent Orange is the de-foliant that American troops sprayed over northern Vietnam. It makes people deformed. Have fun!

  • Yeah, I know what agent orange was, my mom was a chemical engineer for Dow, the makers of agent orange. I was replying to Sokra01. If you read both posts, you'll understand.

  • You are correct about agent orange being a de-foiliant used to destroy vegetation in Vietnam, but it was used in the jungles in the south (Vietnam). The U.S. dropped actual BOMBS over "NORTH" Vietnam.

  • not to mention all the birth, and skin defects that happened

  • It is a bomb that was deployed to kill vegetation. MY step-grandfather was the bomb squadron leader

  • Obviously you are joking. 'agent orange' was a spray, not a bomb. Not telling you anything you don't know. Just ask your supposed step grandaddy.

  • es heißt "surounded by" und "agent orange"

  • Agent Orange dumbass. That stuff was only used for taking away vegetation
