I expect their planet is orbiting a red dwarf star, so it's tidaly locked. its also orbiting on it's side like Uranus or Pluto. The side they are on never faces the star, so they have to rely on the aura stone for light. They get heat from circulating winds from the far side, where the air heats up from the eternal light from the star which circulate to the dark side and cool to habital temperatures. Visa-versa for the Far side which makes it likely covered in jungle.

They look like they're related, they're both cocky, headstrong, and determined, they have the same voice actor for crying out loud! This is just a crazy theory, though.
