No wonder Jaco replied when asked where he thought the future of music was heading ? "Well tomorrow I'll be getting back on a plane going back to Miami"....He were'nt joking.
haha all you 500 people that are like oh wow thanks flea.....yeah you're really putting your vast musical knowledge on display. Jaco is the FIRST person you should know
*sigh- WELL Flea may of sent me here but.. I already knew of jaco and i'm learning Amerika by him on bass. Jaco is an AMAZING bassist... but i think Flea is just as good!
True genius never follow. They are always too busy creating and exploring to even notice mediocrity. Jaco was a great adventurer and took us places we might never have been able to go. He was taken from us way too early but we're blessed to have been touched by his genius. Thank you for the music!
If I was Flea and had sent you this, I'd think twice before sharing a vid again after reading my butt discussed and compared all sides along here, so I'd say stop all these comparisons.
Im not saying he isnt a great bass player, he just isnt Jaco and nobody will ever be Jaco. Many many more people can sound like Flea...no one sounds like Jaco.
Well...by Rolling Stone, John Entwistle is #1 and Flea is the #2 best bassist of all time haha. Thumbs up if you saw the RHCP Hoppus interview and get this!!
Many moons ago at the age of 15 I first heard Jaco and was so blown away I ripped the frets out of my only bass guitar to turn it into a fretless. I then merrily filled the gaps with slivers of a chopped up, discarded oak dining table. Not knowing anything about the stress of strings, the warping of wood etc imagine my suprise when my only instrument turned into a fucking longbow. Shite for playing jazz... but would have played a blinder at Agincourt!
He's really good..... so are many others, I can accept that, hell musicians from bands I hate (damn you linkin park) are probably pretty good. Almost all of them are better than me, there's no reason to get upset about, Jaco is the greatest- if you think so, Flea is the greatest- if you think so. People honestly look for videos so they can fight, well have fun with that...... opinion Nazis suck! But that's just my opinion...
Guys the drummer is Alphonse Mouzon Jazz fusion great- remember Jaco worked close and was produced by Bobby Columby- another of the great NY Jazz drummers in the 70's ,and leader of Blood Sweat and Tears
@1980Triumph you hate Jaco so much yet I always see you trolling on all his vids, everytime I'm peacefully watch I always seem to run into your comments XD.
Surpsingly I was bought to many videos by Jaco fans in vain attempts to show me or prove to me how wonderful he is. At this point they have shown me nothing. To one of their credits, they did share some of Jaco's better moments, his work with JM was ok at best and at the very least consistent. This performance is garbage though, and even at his best he is not the greatest of all time or the revolutionary people pretend he is.
@1980Triumph Remember me? I sent you those videos of Jaco, can you name another 5 bass players that have inspired millions of people around the world?
@ROCKSTAR1B13 So? Doesn't mean they're not. Brian Setzer doesn't think he's that good of a guitarist. It's something called modesty. All good musicians have it.
@drmrls1 Guys the drummer is Alphonse Mouzon Jazz fusion great- remember Jaco worked close and was produced by Bobby Columby- another of the great NY Jazz drummers in the 70's ,and leader of Blood Sweat and Tears
@MrMeddled "the music of poor black people" I think you are confusing jazz with blues!?
Already in the 1920's jazz was almost as "white" as it was "black" (remember Bix Beiderbecke for instance) and the performers was not always poor ;)
The first music called jazz was a mix of Ragtime and Blues with German march music, French vaudeville music, Gypsy music, classical influences etc. It was quite European in several respects.
I totally agree the tickets are tooo expensive though ;)

John Entwistle
John Paul Jones
Flea

John Paul Jones
Geddy Lee
Cliff Burton
Steve Harris
John Entwistle
