i disagree with your assessment of this video, but if i were to accept your opinion, i would still have to wonder what the hell mccain is talking about. mccain voted against increasing the amount available for medical care for veterans , against increasing medical service for veterans, against VA outpatient care, tabled a vote to supply troops with appropriate safety equipment, and missed no less than a dozen votes on iraq. i could go on, but mccain is just a liar no matter how you spin it.

We need to take him at his word when it comes to such a highly sensitive issue like the draft. The draft is too important a political topic for us not to take a politician at his word when he says he agrees with a draft proponent. Yeah, perhaps his intentions did not match up with the actual statement--"I agree with everything you said"--but I'm not willing to take that risk. McCain now needs to say, if he believes it, that he rejects the draft as a military option.

We are reaching the point where we might HAVE to go back to the draft. Our army has been pretty much destroyed as an effective fighting machine at this point, it will need to be rested and reconstituted, and we just have too much going on in the world to totally withdraw.

I believe everyone realized long ago that if McCain was elected we'd have the draft back in effect because he's been preaching a message of war, war, war.
What I don't think some people realized was that there won't be any of the "college deferments" or other means for the wealthy to escape the draft this time as it's no longer "PC" & there would be too much of an outcry about the rich keeping their kids out of combat.
So buckle up!

Ya'll need to go back and listen to video. The draft was not the subject of the video...the lady wasn't calling for a draft. She was saying that we treat our veterans so badly that in the future the only way we could have a military is to have a draft. She said we would need a draft to s "send people to the gates of hell". They're talking about treating veterans better not calling for a draft. That was said to make a point. Did ya'll even listen to the video?!

I am surprised to find myslf defending this man, but here is one issue that we may be jumping the gun on. I don't think it sounds like either McCain nor the woman were supporting the draft, and here's why:
The question seemed to focus almost exclusively on poor medical care, she suggests, sarcastically, that conditions are so bad that it would take a draft to convince people to join. I think she wasn't saying we should draft kids, I think she was saying we need to improve conditions for vets

i disagree with your assessment of this video, but if i were to accept your opinion, i would still have to wonder what the hell mccain is talking about. mccain voted against increasing the amount available for medical care for veterans , against increasing medical service for veterans, against VA outpatient care, tabled a vote to supply troops with appropriate safety equipment, and missed no less than a dozen votes on iraq. i could go on, but mccain is just a liar no matter how you spin it.

Why isn't this being reported in the media. He is complaining that Obama is getting all the coverage but there are so many instances when he talks all this crap and it is never reported.
I also find it interesting that he agrees with this woman when he has personally voted against a number of bills that would improve soldiers & veterans benefits, salaries and the state of their medical treatment facilities.
