  • I did not expect the clapping at the end. I was listening to it very carefully at her lovely playing and then all of a sudden..... I heard clapping that made me jump;) she was great:)))

  • Cynthia is awesome and perfectly reproduces the baroque atmosphere. I probably will get a lot of flack for saying that, but I still think that Telemann is superior to Bach

  • @Mrrossinifreak I discovered his fantasias for violin recently, and although I will not go so far as you in the comment comparing him with Bach, I prefer this works to the more famous partitas for violin solo of the Cantor. I play the violin and one of my dreams is to play all the fantasias by Telemann.

  • I want to thank everyone for the comments. But what makes all this possible is the real line, let them not modesty, a sense of what is truly good to hear. Music well performed! is what we seek. so why not spread best?!

  • Such a unique resonant sound...what a voice! She and the violin are so well paired- and the song comes out incredible.

  • yay! the best.

and i love that you make facial expressions too! people always comment on the fact that i do when i play, as if i shouldn't :/

  • bravo!

  • beautiful

  • Why do u hold the bow like so? and why are the hairs so tight?

  • @KwonJiyong33 Cynthia is playing an original baroque violin with a baroque bow.

  • @KwonJiyong33 It's a "German bow," meaning an 18th-century bow with the bowstrings looser, and able to wrap over the strings to make chords. The German-style bow went out of fashion at the end of the 18th century, but in Telemann's time it was the bow they all used. It worked very well with violins that were strung with gut, and bowed with edge of the bow.

  • @looterish I'm not sure what a German bow is, but I think she is using a typical late baroque bow with normal tension.

  • @looterish I was assuming it was that particular type of bow because of the way she was holding it. As far as I know (which is not much!) the Baroque bow was called a "German bow."

  • @KwonJiyong33 I have occasionally seen volinists playing modern instruments with modern bows who also use this style of grip high up on the stick. I guess it works for them.

  • I love the sound!

  • A una persona no le gusta esto??? debe ser sorda.

  • i love this piece and even more your interpretation!!

  • i really love the starting!

  • Esta chava toca re bien y suena re bonito.

  • very impressed

  • Excellent performance!

  • Beautiful. Can you tell me what pitch you are tuned to? It feels different.

  • @bubblybassoonist This baroque violin uses a reference pitch of 415.3 Hz, which is about a half step lower than modern pitch.

  • The echo of the room makes everything sound better. I guess its time for me to find a large empty room LOL

She plays it so well though, I want to learn this now

  • amazing attention to baroque technique. I loved it! :)

  • Cynthia Miller Freivogel i love you!

  • great playing, but i was just wondering, ive seen some people hold their bows like 1/4 of the way like her, is it a different bow or just a different position?

  • CHIEDO TROPPO SEDERMI DAVANTI A TE E ASCOLTARTI,SEI AFFASCINANTE

  • BRAVOOOOOOOO!!! BRAVOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Genuine virtuosity! The audience certainly recognised that fact!

  • Ésto es Telemann... una interpretación brillante y maravillosa! Gracias por compartirla.

    MILIONS LOVE YOU, ME ancamagalu@tin.it

    ciao

  • one person's finger slipped...

  • That was SO nicely done! I loved every second! ...and yes, full, rich sound! I love how the acoustics of the venue texture the performance. Just marvelous!

  • She sho do play a mean fiddle. ;)

  • Ahhh the clear rich tone of the baroque.

    Simply superb.

  • O.O .... I Love u!!!!

  • 10...Nota 10

  • If I held my bow like that my teacher would slap me.

  • @darius195.- If you could play that well, you would be teaching your teacher.

  • @darius195 its also a baroque bow not a modern, you need to hold it where Cynthia is for more control.

  • @OrganoAeternam Oh I see, I didn't even know what a baroque violin was until just now. I thought she was holding it like that for style.

  • @darius195

She's using a "baroque bow" which requires a different hand position. The bow is convex, not concave, and has a different center of gravity.

  • @tineke9988 Would an experienced violinist be able to play a baroque violin? Or would it take further training?

  • @darius195

Training would be very helpful, but there is a lot that is the same, obviously. Give it a try. Many "modern" violinists are surprised at how much they love it, and how it suits early music better. Have fun.

  • @darius195 Just pick it up and start playing :)

  • What a sound, and what a beautiful bowing action.

  • You play very beatiful, I really like your dinamics, articulations the way you do the contrast to show the phrases. The music sounds like a text.

  • Awesome!!!

  • Cynthia Freivogel nous enchante par son jeu ; et elle porte bien son nom car elle nous emporte avec la légèreté d'un oiseau libéré.

  • Wonderful, thank you for the performance.

  • BRAVO!!!!!! My dearest Cynthia.

  • Thank you for bringing a angel to youtube

  • @sori1004jyIsupportU

Check these other youtube vids of Voices of Music with Cynthia Freivogel and Carla Moore on violins. ( I like to refer to the 2 of them as the Dynamic Duo of Baroque Violin).
