@ibanezxz500 Very awesome to have moms like this eh? My mom is a 70's child and and grew up being influenced by some of the greatest music of that time. She too has taken me to see many bands Aerosmith, red hot chili peppers, a two day long alternative/rock festival, limp bizkit(shut up I was young and it was their second cd :P ) and most recently took me to see incubus. Its awesome having mothers that are open minded and can relate to their children giving us such wonderful memories to cherish.
Thats a nice little speech. Its sad that some people seem to be going: thats so cynical, or thats so boring when artists are saying something like this, especially in the metal community.
Now-the little speech itself is rather mundane, but really it's all that Tool has ever said. The bit where he says "question authority and think for yourself" is a summation of Tool's whole message; it may come off as trite to somebody who took it at face value...
...but then again, I could be completely wrong. I guess you would have to talk to MJK to know really
@kamakazi8242 they say they call them selves tool because they are "your", tool.
they want to inspire and create a very open vibe to where anybody feels comfortable enough to think for themselves and question authority, i suggest that you listen to that last bit a again "we hope that something we shared with you tonight will leave you inspired and or healed on some level.." "and we encourage you to use this feeling for something positive", if thats mundane than i want to kill myself.
funny how someone could criticize fans for being inspired. You should be happy the fans aren't saying the regular idiotic "I'd go gay for Maynard" and "Maynard/Carey is God" etc. That's where trite and idiocy come into play.
i was at this concert my mom took me it kicked ass

Funny how he can say something so incredibly trite and mundane and his fans will say "so beatiful" [sic].
By the way, the word is "beautiful."
