Hmmmm, well .223 ammo is not the same as military which is 5.56. They have diffrent seating depths which can cause over pressure in your rifle. You need to check with a go or no go gauge. Most will be ok. Same with a .308 and the military 7.62 they are the same caliber but can have different throats in them.

@andy45662 Ya that's wrong man, its just like the old .38/.357 thing with revolvers. You can shoot .223 out of a barrel chambered for 5.56 but you cant shoot a 5.56 out of a barrel rated for .223. The 5.56 cartridge packs more of a punch and the extra pressure can blow out the .223 barrel. Its really hard to find barrels that fire .223 these days as most AR manufacturers make the barrels in 5.56 for this very reason.

If guns or ammo becomes scarce and conserving ammo becomes a concern then you may want to consider bows and arrows or pellet guns for hunting instead of regular firearms and ammo. That way you can save your regular guns and ammo for security or even trading purposes if SHTF.
reloading pres FTW my guns take some kinda expensive ammo, my .303 british is around $15-40 a box of 20, whereas with a reloading press, i can make a box of $20 for like $5-10 or so, and you can get a basic reloading kit for around $99 and you cna get powder, brass, bullets and primers for cheaper.

Just a note to all: A CCW class isn't enough to give you any training that you can use to survive if the time comes. I have personally had about three weeks of handgun training from quality training companies and feel this is about the level you will need. If guns or ammo becomes scarce and conserving ammo becomes a concern then you may want to consider bows and arrows or pellet guns for hunting instead of regular firearms and ammo. That way you can save your regular guns and ammo for security or even trading purposes if SHTF.

Just a note to all: A CCW class isn't enough to give you any training that you can use to survive if the time comes. I have personally had about three weeks of handgun training from quality training companies and feel this is about the level you will need. It is about the same level that the police are trained to in the academies.

I'd also go to many different police stations to take the drugs and more weapons. You can never have enough weapons. The drugs can be used as a kind of payment incase someone has exactly what you need, you know? The location i'd pick would always have to be a rooftop because you're able to see from all different directions. Not only that but with many other ppl with you it's easier to spot someone. If something like this were to ever happen i'd just drive a truck through the place and stock my ass up on as much as the truck can carry. I'd also team up with family and friends. The more ppl, the better the odds in surviving. I'd also go to sporting good stores and grocery stores as well.

There are a number of scenarios in which you may need food and guns to protect yourself. Natural disasters, economic collapse, or riots that get out of hand (As in Egypt). Crime in the UK and Australia increased dramatically when guns were banned. what ammunitions do you recommend? i mean this in the regard of what will be common or most available after a major crisis. i have heard that 7.62x39 and .223 rounds are good choices for long arms and .38, .45 acp, and 9mm are good for handguns. let me know about your recommendations and obviously 12 ga shotgun is a given.

@mycrimsonregrets 12guage boss, 25 shells for 5 bucks. Look for it on sale, Bi Mart has them alot. For holding the fort down best thing you can have.
