If I recall correctly the Robot Damashii Exclusive Eva 01 Awakening version has an undamaged AT field accessory and as well as parts to recreate awakening mode plus effect parts for the thing that Eva 01 did in the 2nd movie where he divided an AT filed in to sections and shot it an an angel. Why don't you go for that?

@Actar576295 HELP! do you think the Damashii will be better than the RIOBOT CREATION EVA Unit-01(set to release Jan 2012)? That one will be 7,800 yen (~$101)...the translucent green shoulder pads look fantastic and imo the head sculpt/paint captures the menacing look of Unit 1 I love so much in the anime. any thoughts or suggestions? thanks, Actar, in advance

i just got mine for 40 bucks off of amazon! and i've gotta say way better than Revoltech, but i still like revoltech cuz they seem to be more psychotic looking and more evil! :D but for anime accuacy and build i'm goin with RD

well i can see how you would hate the first eva's made by revoltech but i'm a fan of my eva unit 01 test type from them its atually my fav collectable.

now i know the sculpting isn't 100% accurate but the paint on mine is very well done and even on both of my miniature revoltech evas.

but i'm feeling like i should pick this and unit02 so i mite be able to get what you mean by "better than revoltech" completely. also the plastic on my evas are sturdy and ot weak like the first revoltech evas

Hands down bandai is still the best,far more impressive take on the evangelion,much more durable/ sturdier than revoltech...however their soul of chogokin line is going down the hill.

i just got my Revoltech 028 AFR unit 01 F-type, and i think it's quite a bit better than this one, and though it has less accessories they made it SO much better looking, i'm not a fan of them replacing the green with the yellow, but it's beefy-ness makes up for it so much. if not better, it's just as good as this one.

@Ichigo9913 While I'm not saying that the Revoltechs are bad figures, but comparing the two and putting aside designs, I feel that the RDs a better because of their superior build quality and articulation. Seriously, once you handle one, you will know.

@nightslash3535 Well, there is a saying that goes "You get what you pay for"... But in all honesty, the Revoltechs aren't bad per say, just not as good as the Robot Damashii, though it's kinda hard to tell unless you have both in your hands to make a comparison.

@Actar576295 I have both, while the Revoltech EVA 2.0 version has more accessories, the Robot Damashii lacks the greasy quality in terms of it's paint apps. Actually, both toys depends on your choice and wallet, while the Revoltech 2.0. is cheaper and have more accessories, the Robot Damashii has better build quality.

Please take note, that both toys utilize ABS and POM plastics on their constructions but in a slightly different quality, not like a bootleg.

@KazuBadguy If you ever handled a Robot Damashii at all, I GUARANTEE you'll prefer it over the Revoltech. Also stands being sold separate isn't that big of a deal. Robot Damashiis stand perfectly in a myriad of poses without stands.

@doom2sgt Most Japanese Anime with magic have Magical Circles when casting spells or using magic, for example, Card Captor Sakura, etc...

Bible Black's Dark Magic Circle is significantly different from the Mid-Childa Circle that I use, which is from Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha.

I wouldent say that the soul of chogokins are THAT bad.....I own 3 ( eva 01, eva 00 and eva 04 ) and even though they are not anime accurate, they make fun desk toys :)

Wow, you just changed my decision in purchasing the eva figures. i was planning on purchasing these new eva figures from the newest movies, and i had thoughts of getting the revoltech ones, but now for sure i'll be getting the Robot Damashii versions. better material, sculpt, paint, details, and articulation. but what sucks about the Robot Damashii versions that they lack accessories...

Compared to the Revoltech 2.0 Unit 01, the main differences seem to be better leg and hand joints and the lack of a hinged jaw. The sculpt of the head seems a bit different too, with the eyes further back. Also, is it just the lighting or does the figure really look that blue?

@E7Nightmare The Soul of Chogokin figures are far from good with their bizarre metallic finish. As I said in the previously, the Soul of Chogokin SPEC figures are the best Evangelion figures out there.

The RD is the best SMALL SCALE Evangelion figure.

@otakunick89 Are you referring to the Soul of Chogokin or the Soul of Chogokin SPEC? They are two completely different lines and as I said in the review, the RD is the best of the small scale Evangelion figures. Nothing can beat the SOC SPECs. They are the ultimate Evangelion figures.

I totally agree with you on this figure of being way superior to revoltech and AT field definitely adds more of appeal to it, is something revoltech should have added done when try to re-release the Unit 01. I still feel bit skeptical of RD releasing the Unit 02 the Beast, I don't if they going nail the "Organic" feel to it.

@Actar576295 Well, they're too big and wide. EVA's are supposed tolook wide on the upside and become more skinny downwards. I also think the spine is to straight, and not angular enough like on the SOC SPEC, which captures it's body, aside from the stubby neck really well...

Oh yeah, you mentioned in the review that the Revoltech had the rotating fins, but that's not true. The rebuild version has the same system as the robot damasshi.

the fins on the damashii plug on the actual shoulder, the more accurate point.

I admittedly like EVA-01, but the EVA-02 Damashii model just looks a lot better to me. Would be perfect if it had parts-swapping to make it resemble ZA BEASTO mode.

@EDorb Still hoping for Bandai to come out with a EVA 02 ZA BEASTO. Might have to pick up the Revoltech Version as it looks quite good. The fluid stylistic style actually works in favor for ZA BEASTO.

@Actar576295 That AT field isn't actually unit 01's though. By the pose it looks like it is the first angel's field as it is the only one interacted with in that way. The only time you see 01's field is VS the angle that fall from the sky.
