You forget that, first the men thought the apostles were drunk. Second that later in acts the sign of salvation was Glossolalia. i once was told to come up and be healed ,and then was told to speak in a toung ,i said what ,and was tokld say eny thing ,just bable on ,that was the end of me ,i went back to my R C church,no baberling ,

However prayer tongues and tongues of men, like the ones in Acts 2, are not meant for interpretation. So therefore it is not wrong when one is praying in tongues. I also used to thing that until I prayed for God to show me the truth. I know have been baptized by the Holy Spirit and I have the gift of prayer tongues. Study the different kinds.
..it's very rampant to the evangelical & pentecostal churches the speaking in tongues.. i even asked them if they are aware if they are uttering the unkown language..they simply answered, they simply "practiced" it... i am shocked with their revelation that it is not coming from God above but from their own mind only.. If tongues weren't real then how come they sound EXACTLY the same in China and in Africa and in South America and any where else God moves? Why would you claim to believe in God but not believe in his almighty power. His gifts of the Spirit are given to edify the church and to help unbelievers. 1Cor 12 teaches on ALL the gilft's of the Spirit and teaches that they are given as the Holy Spirit sees fit
but 1 Cor 13: 1 show a tongue that is NOT of this earth!
I see 3 types of tongues
1 speaking once and all men understand at once
