I want to be in the art journal club Suzi. I didn't know but I've been making an art journal for many years but not in a JOURNAL, just on random pieces of paper and then I color them and put them all in a manila folder. I want to share a secret. I take them out and admire them sometimes for hours and am amazed how much I love the drawings and words and swirls I make. Imagine what will happen when I bind them together?

Wow, bitter much? St4rdog, based on your comment, and the vids you've uploaded, I'd guess you haven't made it past the age of 18, and so you still think it's cool to be all cynical and jaded. That age where you aren't sure whether to kiss a girl or pull her hair. Since SuziBlu never talks about art school, or how to get in, your comment is really irrelevant. Please go back to your video games, and let the grown-ups go about making their art.

I hate this kinda thing to be honest. You're the type of person that makes it into art school at the expense of those who can actually draw/paint properly, just because you splash a few colours around mediocre drawings. The current schooling system breeds mediocrity.
I'm not saying you can't draw, but a lot of the people that do this kinda thing can't.
You know, I was going to not say anything here, but this kind of attitude really pisses me off. The idea that art is something that you should only do if you've got the right technique or can do something "properly" is utter bullshit.
If you want to make art, the idea that you can't do it "right" can be a terrifying and stifling thing, and attitudes like the one you're displaying keep millions of people from ever expressing themselves in a creative way. I think that's fucking tragic.

It's not tragic. It's the way it should be.
You shouldn't be getting into art schools over those who've actually spent the time to LEARN techniques.
If you look at these type of sketchbooks you'll find that 90% of them are females. Females seem far more pretentious and expressive when it comes to art.
I just hate looking at a piece of art, imagining it without colour, then realising it could have been created by a 10 year old.
*sigh* You just need love, St4rdog. Poor thing. It's okay, This isn't about anyone taking up a space in art school, darling. so just relax. No one is out to get your place in a class or your space on a wall anywhere. So chill, honey.
Suzy, this is great attitude and stuff.Fiber arts and exploration. I live in the same area and have a group of cloth doll artists and fiber artists. You'd fit right in to the insanity of creativity with us.
I can't believe people leave negatives. I love your instructional videos and if there is a market for them all the better. Anything to promote culture in this mediocre-turning country of ours. Good luck in Virginia.

I find artists as children, everyone from a young age draws, paints etc. most of them grow out of it but a few carry on and never grow up :)

High five for being honest and outspoken about what the word "art" really is. It's become a loaded term and I think that scares a lot of people away from playing with materials and markmaking. Glad to see you use journals as I do! (And if you ever wanna do a moleskin trade let me know! lol. You've inspired me to go work on mine so I can post a video moleskin "tour" sometime!)

Yeah, now you really get me out from fear. I was once a schhool art student then I swop to learn Theatre when I graduated I was lose and keen on making a living like others. And business in live time is really kill my imagination.

Cool I found this channel! This is your first video I found. My husband just brought me some new paint brushes he got and I don't know what to do with them. I'm going to check out your other vids for ideas. I will def be checking into an art journal purchase. Can't say I ever heard of moleskin, but there's always a first. LOL!

Suzi this is fab, you have inspired me to start an Art Journal, I have posted my first entry slideshow as a video response.
Not only have you inspired me to do this but my husband is now getting one, together with some altered flash card 'prompts' for his birthday. He passed A Level art before we met and in the 13 years I have know him I haven't seen him pick up a brush, it's about time that changed!

Wow, bitter much? St4rdog, based on your comment, and the vids you've uploaded, I'd guess you haven't made it past the age of 18, and so you still think it's cool to be all cynical and jaded. That age where you aren't sure whether to kiss a girl or pull her hair. Since SuziBlu never talks about art school, or how to get in, your comment is really irrelevant. Please go back to your video games, and let the grown-ups go about making their art.

I hate this kinda thing to be honest. You're the type of person that makes it into art school at the expense of those who can actually draw/paint properly, just because you splash a few colours around mediocre drawings. The current schooling system breeds mediocrity.
I'm not saying you can't draw, but a lot of the people that do this kinda thing can't.

You know, I was going to not say anything here, but this kind of attitude really pisses me off. The idea that art is something that you should only do if you've got the right technique or can do something "properly" is utter bullshit.
If you want to make art, the idea that you can't do it "right" can be a terrifying and stifling thing, and attitudes like the one you're displaying keep millions of people from ever expressing themselves in a creative way. I think that's fucking tragic.

It's not tragic. It's the way it should be.
You shouldn't be getting into art schools over those who've actually spent the time to LEARN techniques.
If you look at these type of sketchbooks you'll find that 90% of them are females. Females seem far more pretentious and expressive when it comes to art.
I just hate looking at a piece of art, imagining it without colour, then realising it could have been created by a 10 year old.

Suzy, this is great attitude and stuff.Fiber arts and exploration. I live in the same area and have a group of cloth doll artists and fiber artists. You'd fit right in to the insanity of creativity with us.
