There is so much more in a Metroid game than ANY other Nintendo game, with the exception of The Legend of Zelda, yet Mario and Pokemon are the ones hailed and recognized for their greatness. I love Mario, but I think the other Nintendo mascots deserve a little more recognition then they get.

@mrzisawesome Metroid Prime Hunters isn't the deffinative Metroid game. Play Super Metroid, or Metroid Prime. I will agree with you that Hunters was a decent game at best, but Super Metroid and Metroid Prime will be two of the most amazing games you will ever play. Trust me, the puzzles are just as good as a Zelda game in Prime.

Super Metroid is, in my opinion, the ultimate run N gun platforming game, which also happens to have a flurry of weapons and upgrades, collectable items, secret paths, bosses, awesome moody music and well made levels. It's a SNES game and is available to download on the virtual console. It is 2-d metroid at its best and is perhaps the best 2d game ever. I highly recommend it, not that I don't like sonic and all, they are both lots of fun.
