  • I loved this card. IF only They'd make this again... but more powerful, and PCI-E :(

  • i flashed mine to XT

  • 470mhz for agp that is awsome

  • This card was legendary breaktrough......same as 8800 gtx in the end of 2006 when crysis beta came out

same thing was with this card when doom 3 came out

  • Classic

  • I know this hardware is old, but I heard this is the best card for AGP systems. Could you tell me what the power supply requirements for that card is? TIA!

  • @DanMan91693

You can't buy it anymore and there are better cards available for AGP. Who ever told you this was the best available for AGP is behind the times by about 6 years...

  • 9800 Pro running Splinter Cell was freaking awesome back then!

  • I maxed out Halo 2 with my old HIS IceQ 9800 Pro. Still runs today :D

  • I maxed out Halo 2 with my old HIS IceQ 9800 Pro :D

  • my old video card, how nostalgic...

  • how do you affix RAM heatsinks to the RAM chips?

  • I sold one of these with a cooler a few months back for $15. I wish i'd kept it

  • @darkazn142 I don't know if you still need an answer but no, Starcraft needs higher shaders than what this has plus it doesn't have enough streamers

  • HAHAHHA, i remember buying this card for $230 after my brand new fx5800 wasnt good enough for mafia 2, and the 9800pro rocked for dx9

  • @SrtRacerBoy mafia 2 was just released this year how did u play it 4 years ago?

  • @pamaiomule hahahahha, i meant the first mafia, i didnt mean 2

  • @weyneljm would this work to play smoothly in starcraft 2? :D plz help.

  • @dar OMG THIS IS WAY TO GOOD FOR THAT OMG!

  • ahh the wonderful 9800pro.. my 4 year old son has this in his HTPC and uses it to play his mkv 720p vids as well as n64 and gamecube emulators in high def on a single core athlon cpu :D

only down side i found is when connected to a sony hdtv the 1080i is terrible and super flashy even out of the dvi connection, upgraded right away to the next level up and what a difference going from 9800 pro to nvidia 7600 on that tv.

but for functionality and connectivity this card ruled in its day

  • I still have my 9800 pro, it truly was a ground breaker

  • i still have this card in my pc now : (

  • would this work on a power mac g4

  • Old school hardware.

  • glad he shaves before reviewing nowadays LOL

  • Which one is better? The 512 MB Nvidia® GeForce G310 or this ATI radeon 9800 pro. I know the 512 MB Nvidia® GeForce G310 is quite standard, but ati radeon is much older if im right.

  • Wow you look so much different man.

  • I used that video card for a few years, it's an just amazing card.

  • ive got this card someone gave it me but when i put it in my pc it displays the post boot screen corruted what could it be

  • were can i download the full drivers for this

  • This card was king for a long time during the early to mid MM's. I always wanted one, but could not get myself to spend $200+ that it cost back then, having settled instead for an nvidia 6600gt, which was not as impressive. I actually remember the day the 9800 got pulled from the shelf from Fry's that was around 2006. A very long run, considering video cards usually go obsolete in 1 to 2 years.

  • Can someone help me find one of these i need one

  • ya well i got this card you can push up the resolutetion on this card

  • can anyone tell me if it can fit my hp compaq evo

    d510 sff....

    thx

  • what other older games can I play w/ this card?

  • @acuna13, Doom 3 for sure, Half-Life 2(or almost all Source-based Valve games) and so on.

  • Surprisingly, this card was aging in 2006. My old Geforce 6200 came out in 2006, and it could blow it away easy.

  • The 9800 Pro murders a 6200. Even a 6600GT had a hard time keeping the lead.

  • Ehh, at times. My 6200 was overclocked and had all 8 pipes unlocked on it, so it was at about 6600GT level. Plus it has shader model 3, which I don't think this card has...

The 6200 got me playable framerates on STALKER on medium for 6 months before the whole computer went out, it was a great little card...

  • @geeknproud2110

I still have a Radeon 9800 Pro here, it's like equal to the 6800XT that I also have here.

  • @geeknproud2110 yea but in aplications that require Pixel Shader 3 they are raping ati.i had both 9800 and 6600gt and in new games the 6600gt is better.

  • @munteanuioan Yeah but both are so ridiculously outdated now they are no longer relevant to PC gaming. The 9800XT was as fast as a 6600GT easily and the 9800Pro wasn't far off.

  • @geeknproud2110 yeah but its not about the speed .its about memory and technologyes if u have 128DDR and pixel shader 2 you will get ass raped by a 256DDR2 or GDDR3 and pixel shader 4.sped isnt everything.a 5900ultra or a x800 were like 30 gb/s but they cant run any new games cuz they dont know how to interpret the graphic engineand ull get an error at the start.

  • @munteanuioan

But like I said yet again irrelevant. I haven't seen a gaming PC with those cards in years.

  • @geeknproud2110 bought a RADEON 9800 PRO 128MB in 2004, still using it in my 2.16GHz Athlon XP machine, runs great

  • @geeknproud2110

    True.

Which is ironic considering those two Support SM3.0 and it only supports SM2.0

    XD

  • Dude! 8800 GTX came out in 2006! WTF are you talking about?

  • Oh, you are right. I thought there was less of a break between the 9 series and the 8 series, so I was thinking 5 series at 2004, 6 at 2005-06, and then 8 series in 2007 and 9 series at 08.

I was right though, this card was aging in 2006. In 2006 most of the requirements for games put this at the low end of the spectrum, and this card is even still usable for some games today, but it's a long lifespan for a GFX card.

  • @rfryworld, lol, this video was made in 2003-2004 and uploaded 2006.

  • mm. the older cards had molex power connector XD

  • BUT CAN IT PLAY CRYSIS

  • lame -.-

  • ddr mEMORY FOR THIS CARD..ITS AWSOME..THIS IS PROBABLY THE FASTEST VIDEO CARD FOR DDR MEMORY

  • I'm still using an ATi Radeon 9600pro :P

  • 470mhz with water cooling HOLLYYY CRAPPPP..

lol, ahh good old memory's with a radeon 9800pro and some call of duty.. XD

  • this card owned nvidia's top models hard back then, but it had no games that really showed what it could do for like two years

  • yeah, i think half life 2 was the first to show us what it could do, that and the unreal games

  • Yeah it was the best card to run Half-Life 2 at the time and it actually ran maxed with AA.

  • When I got this card, it was a beast.

    But now not anymore :(

    too bad.

  • FUCK ME!!! THAT IS AWESOME FOR 128 MB !

  • I have a 9800XT. the 9x00 series really did rock. I went from a FX5200 to a 9800XT then 7800GS+. Ahh memorys.

  • ahh, yes.... DDR memorys XD

  • Got the aiw version, good card. Have pile of other cards in my collection even a 9800gt and a voodo3 2000.

  • I still use this card today, it actually runs Crysis on minimum settings at 6-12 fps on 1280x1024 no AA.

  • Has anyone got it to run TF2?

  • it will not run the regular maps like 2 forts but player made ones it will

  • actually im running TF2 w it quite well. The prob was my fancy sound card!!!? I switched to the on board 'normal' one and it runs fine!

  • This card was a beast back in 2003-2004! I used to have one in my Dell 4600.

  • I remember getting one of these in 2004 or so. It was a great card. Still works too.

  • Hey that is my card! It is outdated now tho :P and the last few ATI driver updates were not so desirable..

  • blja ona ko mne ne pojdjot=)

  • This card was badass. I got it in 2005 and it worked great. Died a year later tho...... ATI wouldn't replace it for me either.....

  • this card is actually god ,I bought it at 2006 the graphics are nice ,but 1 of the 8 processors burned so fuck this card!! The Geforce 260GTx is my baby now:)))

  • YAy i have a 256 9800se card softmodded yay

  • softmodded.. kid gtfo and go play ur xbox

  • lol mine is still working but its breaking down

  • i had one of these in 2003 it lasted about a year and a half and i had to buy a new ati800 lol. 9800pro was a crap card lol.

  • 380 mhz! WOW

    lol

  • i had teh same card lol

i bought it in 2005 and it burned in 2008

    now i have HD4850 bitchs

  • Back in the day this thing was commonly referred to as "the shit!" Now we are laughing at it. LOL

  • this card sux

  • This was reviewed in July, 2000 lol.

  • no wounder lol

  • The card I had worked good with the games I was using, Especially while playing goldeneye 007 on project 64, civilization 4 and stuff...

I never got a chance to overclock it though...

  • I have a Question Which is Better Radeon X1050 AGP 256MB or Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB? Please need Quick ANSWER

  • i have the ATI Radeon 9800 Pro

  • Unlucky mate.

  • Unlucky lol?

    whats you GC then?

    TB =)

  • Erm at the mo I've got a Sapphire Radeon 3850. Previous to that I had Sapphire's 2600XT.

The 3850 plays COD4 BF2142 on highest on my 19" widescreen. The 2600XT was actually rather poor for the price.

  • well yes all the 2000series were bad.. thats why i waiting for 3000series i have 3870 amazing card!!

  • 9800pro is one of the best graphic cards what were ever made :) now it is 8800GTX (but that is/was more expensive card)

  • But the 8800GTX is being retired by the 9800 series, because now ati has the 3870X2 which beat's it.

  • i have 9600 128 mb pro ddr

  • 9800 Pro then was the beast of the card, i remeber playing with the card Battlefield Vietnam. Still plays great games on my P4 1.6ghz, 1GIG RDRAM 800mhz, 160GIG IDE Harddrive.

  • Theres actually only about 1-2fps difference between the 9800PRO 128MB and 256MB. Not worth the extra price.

  • The memory of graphics cards only comes into consideration at higher resolutions. You may only notice a 1-2 fps difference at say a res. of 1024x768, but there will be a huge difference at a res. like 1440x900.

  • that was my old card...fuck shit always fucked up in games etc.Have now X1950Pro , going to bye me a geforce 8800 GTX but dont have the money yet .But i miss the smartshaders they were really nice.Under my card i cants find them.Catalyst Controler doesnt show me the f*ckin smartshaders.

  • that's my old card. i have now x1900 pro

  • ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 256MB <is better ;-)
