It's driving me nuts, why did harrison have to repeat himself? First he asks for the beer, then the chef says something, then harrison says "no no..." then repeats himself? What the heck did the chef say???
Only thing I can think of is that maybe he didn't think he'd want the native beer? and offered him some american beer instead? lol
If my ears are working correctly, the chef says "Kirin ippon" to the female co-worker. My Japanese is terrible, but I think what the chef says translates out to "one bottle of Kirin", but the fearless gaijin Indiana Solo doesn't understand this (obviously). Thus he thinks the guy's talking about a different type of beer, and feels the need to correct him, god forbid he gets one of Kirin's other offerings, instead of the lager.
Actually, it makes sense in this CM. He asks for Kirin with a thick American accent, and somehow the chef understands him and tells the waitress "one beer" (biiru ippon, not kirin ippon) and thats why harrison ford corrects him, although its all very weird. Who cares! Just get a beer and get out, haha.
Although I'd have to say I like Han better than Lando, its funny that he too (Billy Dee Williams) did beer commercials, only Lando did them for Colt 45.

ROFL. This commercial is hilarious, being familiar with Harrison's wink-wink acting style.

He says "Kombanwa" when he enters, which means "good evening".

WongKaiKo...you are exactly right in your interpretation of this commercial. I speak some Japanese and that is what happens in the commercial.

I actually liked Lando better than Han in some ways...
WongKaiKo 3 years ago
yup, Lando is a much better character, and the fact that he owns Cloud CIty. but the best man in SW is Bobba Fett. =)

What the hell people drink all the time on TV. I don't know where you got that.
WatanukiProductions 3 years ago
you see them holding a beer or a beer being poured, but you will not see someone actually put the glass/bottle to their lips and drink it.
