This whole album is a story book with excellent music and effects. Some of it is made up and some real life. Almost every song on this album (CD) is awesome. The man is amazing and to bad he is gone.
@1000WeTHippOs98 This was recorded and released on the album 'Electric Ladyland' in 1968, when the totalitarian future of George Orwell's "1984" seemed possible, so,IMHO, before that took place the protagonist of the song wants to become a merman to escape.
Since I can now upload videos longer than 15 minutes I'll post the full version of "1983" soon. I'm getting a huge response from these videos, and I feel like I've been neglecting those that watch my Hendrix videos (instead focusing on my video game "let's plays"), so that will be the first in a new line of Jimi Hendrix songs that I will upload. If there's a song you guys would like me to post that is either not up, is poor quality, and/or is a different version, please let me know.
The drum work at about 3:21 onward to about 3:45 is masterful!. I didn't really find out who Hendrix really was until about 1975. Growing up black in the South, you didn't hear any Hendrix except for Band of Gypsys. Once I heard this, that's all I wanted to listen to for a very long time.
@hobbesongrass So... you lived 25 years outside from society, and in less than 24 hours you´ve managed to understand and succesfully use a computer, the internet and youtube?
@lennyistheman ...i dont give a fuck if it sounds strange. shit for brains. if it is any of your business i ended up at my friends' computer shop .and that computer geek set this shit up. do you want to hear about my degrees and the fuckin' alphabet of certificates after my name as well. don't ever talk about my experiences with jimi again you fuckin' festering blister on the tip of my dick after rr in bangkok.
@hobbesongrass Calm down, dude. I just wondered if you were one of those people who thinks there cool by saying there one acid on vids like this. But it turns out you´re not, sorry I could´t see that through the PC.
PROHPETJIMI PROPHETJIMI look up PROPHETJIMI Hendrix was never on drugs when he died Hendrix wasn't on BARBITUETES Hendrix WASNT drunk on wine Hendrix WAS SOBER Hendrix DIED SOBER Why did HENDRIX die? with out a scriatch on their bodies they walk the out of stile
A lovely escape-from-dystopia fantasy, sweeter to the imagination than Wooden Ships by CSNY, which is about nuclear-war survivors making peace and fleeing the contaminated land into the sea - Hendrix dreamed a civilized world undersea - but now there'd be balls of crude-oil tar rolling around down there - we can't flee, we're on Spaceship Earth, we've got to work it out or die -
But re the music, Jimi could do so much with a guitar, make a completely-realized song - a one-of-a-kind artist !
When this came out back in the day, it was quite clear that Hendrix had gone somewhere no one else was capable of visiting. It's the track for which headphones and yeah, LSD, were invented.
Astounding sounds given the limitations of 1968 recording technology. Not to mention it moves light years ahead of the conventional pop song format musically and even lyrically.
I´d go have a beer with Jimi. Or two. This is an himn. For a life. Passion transmited from heart to fingers, and then to strings. He could speak without saying a word.

any Hendrix fan should do a search for "prophetjimi" here on youtube
he is MICHAEL FAIRCHILD, and he has decoded the Hendrix Prophecies.
Hendrix was a shaman and a time traveler.
not a drug addict

such a trippy song, ones of his best songs. if anyone says that hendrix wasnt a innovator show this song
endurocatfish 1 year ago
As a guitar player I've always loved Hendrix for his skill and innovation with the instrument but he was also a very talented lyric writer.
