Origin originally wanted to mine peoples pc's for all their personal info, which site they visited, browsing history, torrents you may have, which programs you have installed etc, then they would have sold your info to third party buyers. Even though they say they will no longer do that, I will not trust them. They should have never done that in the first place.

ea will see that no one is using origin, and that the ea games people cant get on steam will be downloaded from D2D and added into their library. then they will only have those games on origin and then people will just not buy them. Then ea will start to charge a monthly fee which no one will pay for and then the little amount people that use origin will disappear. Then the whole service will get shut down and the games will be put on steam once again. :P
@FPSPointMan I don't think so. Origin isn't a digital distribution program like Steam; its a download manager. Hence being able to play a game purchased without starting it up.
@DrBob1991 Well, it partly is true...It is 2 years...but they do delete any and all of your games if you dont log into the game within those 24 months. Just read the Terms and Conditions
@trocien The clause in question is from EA Download Manager (EADM)'s Terms of Service. This program has been out for many years, but recently it was rebranded to 'Origin'. If you're trying to prove that you know very little about this particular clause and any actual cases where people have lost their games, then you're doing a good job.

If you install it they use data on your PC
If you don't log in for a year they delete your games
Even if you get retail Battlefield 3 and/or retail Mass Effect 3 you need to install Origin.
