  • Very nice mister!

  • Excellent!

  • good job!! yes coming frm a die hard who fan!! I

  • Sit up straight when you play.

  • too much sustain pedal in chorus, etc.; a little more staccato

    all phrases seems correct

i wish you had a better voice - Daltrey's was - is - so powerful

what an album - what a band - can't get enough of their tunes!

  • The whole Who By Numbers album takes time to adjust to, stewboz83. You have to understand what Townshend was dealing with at the time in terms of getting older, and his intentions with the album were not, in fact, back to basics, but to move in a different direction. But believe me, I'm not bashing your taste, I LOVE the Who Are You album and I'm so glad you've posted so many classics and you have a great voice. Well done :)

  • You're good!

  • You're good!

  • Brilliant from another die hard who fan

  • thanks for including the verse that was in the demo!!

  • Great singing. Also from a die hard Who fan.

  • could you play queen & pink floyd your who songs are brilliant

  • Tune your piano.

Otherwise, good job. Very Ben Folds.

  • hey dont tell him to do anything- have you seen his other videos they are perfect

  • EXACTLY! THIS GUY IS AWESOME!

  • Hello: I truly loved it.

Yet please; put the microphone a little closer to your lips and do it again.

I would be willing to pay you for a copy of it them. Sincerely your fan david elton

  • Oh man !!! Stew !! my brother !!!I had totally forgotten that you covered this !!Amazing performance !!..I've never heard the demo version...I gotta get it !!!...anyway...Gareth(bass) and I just did a version of New Song !!...Check it out bro !!

  • great voice

  • This song was on "Who Are You"... And this version is good. Damn good. hahaha...

You're a great piano player, and this is coming from a die-hard Who fan!!!!

  • Never heard this song before. Good one.

You might make me go buy Who Are You to hear it. :P

  • You never heard New Song? Oh, you definitely will be needin' WAY then. Absolutely amazing disc. Don't let anyone tell you any differently. It's the last true Who album. And this only partly has to do with it being the last one with Moon. 5 of the 9 tracks were begun during session in 70/71. That's why the direction sounds very similiar to Who's Next

  • But, inevitably, some jokers have a problem with it because it features more of a synth sound. But, if ya think about it, there were synths all over Who'e Next as well. Go get it quickly. And, Quadrophenia too if you don't already have.

  • It's a pretty fine album, I have to say. I'd already heard about half of it, it turns out.

And yeah, I must've listened to Quadrophenia a million times during school last year. :P

Also listened to By Numbers, which I like more. It's all brilliant though.

  • ps. I thought Endless Wire was pretty good. >_>

  • Endless Wire is a good album. But, it doesn't sound anything like something by The Who. It sounds like a really tight Townshend solo disc that Daltrey happens to sing on. If you like EW, then Psychoderelict is also worth checking out.

  • Maybe I'm just picky, but I hated Psychoderelict.

  • Well, aside from Empty Glass and Chinese Eyes, I think it's the only other Townshend solo disc worth hearing. And, it's more in line with the direction of Endless Wire than anything from The Who. He excluded one song from PyschoD that he should have left on. A great song called 'Uneasy Street'.

  • C'est une de mes chansonts favorites des Who . il fallait la tenter au piano .Moi je trouve que ça donne bien . le résultat est vraiment intéressant . Tu as beaucoup de talent , et bravo aussi pour le chant .

  • dude this is awesome!!!!!

    I applaud you!

you must have been taught by John Bundrick or something hehe

  • Are you consciously doing the early demo version that wound up on the 'Lifehouse' box? Because, the slightly altered rhythm sounds much like what can be found on that early demo. I like the vocal approach you use. It's kind of an Alt-Rock thing. You have any originals posted?

  • Are you talking about the Lifehouse Chronicles that Pete released in 2000? I'm pretty sure this song isn't on it.

  • Yep. It's got to be on the box, because it's on the sampler called, 'Lifehouse Elements'. I don't know about the box, but the sampler is definitely worth acquiring if you're a Who-head. I thought it was gunna be another 'Scoop'. But, it's better. And, the version of New Song is closer in direction to what you're doing there.

  • excellent job on a very underrated Who song; and I agree about Endless Wire.

  • ¡¡¡¡oye pianista!!!! de verdad you are a genius

  • Good job, bro. Although, you have a voice that would go well with today's Alt-Pop. But, nice take on that classic tune. 'Who Are You' is my favourite WHO album.

  • My voice is a bit lacking anyway you look at it, but I feel like if I put enough of myself into it, then it will turn out sounding alright. I'm just glad that I can hear that it needs improvement rather than just believing that its perfect. Deep breathing and good posture help a lot. I love this album. I'm so glad that Moon survived to play on it.

  • oh yeah i have that problem all the time lol they just dont make them like they used to

  • Well, I've finally put it back together. Now it needs to be tuned again. I tell ya... I just can't win. :P

  • you should cover tattoo thats a great song

  • Yeah... I love that song. I'll definitely be covering it soon... just gotta put my piano back together.

  • the music must change..can u cover that one.and what is the interpretation,er..what r they really talkin bout

  • Hmmm... I don't know. I can't remember how that song even goes. I might try to cover it when I'm done with all the ones I'm working on now. See ya.

  • Brilliant version! Great playing and singing. Have you got any of these Who versions recorded? I'd love some copies.

  • Thanks alot. What do you mean by "Who versions"? If you're talking about the demos, I have quite a few of those.

  • Was pretty amazed to find a rendition of this one. I didn't think anyone listened to it, anymore! Amazing piano playing, by the way.

  • Yeah, this is one of my favorite songs from the "who are you" album, but not so much the version that is on the ablum. I really like Townshend's demo version from the cd "lifehouse elements." It's so raw, and its all him. I love it! Thanks for the comment.

  • "We run an endless time to reach a higher cloud- BUT WE NEVER EVER SEEM TO GET NEAR IT!!"---that line,in a sentence, sums up what made THE Who great. If you need an explanation, you can't understand. If you dig-no explanation is necessary. Amen?!

  • *6 months later*

AMEN!!!! Sorry for the late response. I missed this one somehow. Or maybe I'm just trying to avoid you 'cause I promised more vids and I've yet to deliver. THIS WEEKEND!! You can hold me to that.

  • HOLD IT! That last verse??? What is that? Did you make it up?

  • The "underneath the harvest moon" verse is only done on Pete's demo. I decided to go ahead and do that version since I love his demo so much more than the final album cut.

  • Who Are You is my fav Who album...please do all of them..especially Love Is Coming Down.

  • I really want to. My main goal was to conquer "who's next," but there are so many songs I love off "Who Are You" that I got a little side tracked. I'll do "Love Is Coming Down" though. Thanks for the comment.

  • For what you're going I'd actually rather hear Who By Numbers...Blue Red & Grey and How Many Friends (don't care about Success Story...). From Who's Next I think the only one that compels me is "The Song Is Over" and "Getting in Tune".

  • What is it about "The Who by Numbers". It just doesn't seem like its recorded as well as the others. I don't really care for that song "how many friends" either. I like "Slip Kid" and "Dreaming from the Waste", but thats about it.

  • I like all the songs but Slip Kid. It's a very atypical Who album.

    >>It just doesn't seem like its recorded as well as the others.

Oh yea?...what is it about Endless Wire? It's only half an album.

  • Heh... Endless Wire is definitely for die hard Who fans. I actually like it, though. My favorite tracks are "In The Ether" and "Two Thousand Years." It really doesn't matter to me that only two members survive as long as one of the two is Pete Townshend. I like most of his demo work better than the album tracks anyway. To be more specific about my beef with "The Who By Numbers," its the vocals. They are too low in the mix.

  • :O

    !!!

ur like the ONLY person ive heard that didnt like How Many Friends

    I think ur crazy.. haha

and I think that is a good album... its more hard driven then Who Are You... and it brings it back out of synths and things, its nice

  • I've listened to it a couple of times since I last judged it, and I'm listening to it right this minute. Okay, ya know what my main problem with "by numbers" is. Its the production. Everything sounds weak and empty, Vocals/instruments. I'm not bashing the Who. I understand that they were trying to go back to the basics with this album.. not using synthesizers. I'm having trouble thinking of a Who song without synthesizers that I like. What do you like about this song, slot? help me like it. lol

  • ah, I dont think my comment posted.

I love the piano, and the distant echoing of the electric guitar. It puts me in a dream state (makes me feel like im floating) feeling good, which is how the lyrics start out, and then soon enough the crashing begins when the person realises everything might not be as they seem.

and when it comes to teh climax, it seems SO important. The chords, the way the electric guitar sounds like it is falling (going down note by note) & the message meant a lot growing

  • dreaming from the waist is great the version on

"View from a backstage pass" is amazing

  • WHO R U is my favorite album as well. I wonder how many(not many)WHO fans would agree? DO "SONG IS OVER" NEXT! I think "New Song" is one of my very favorite WHO tunes.

  • I'm glad to hear that "new song" is your favorite. Its an awesome song that doesn't get so much recognition. Have you heard the demo version from "lifehouse elements?"

  • I hadn't heard of Lifehouse elements, I quessed that it was on "Scoop". Thanks, now I know where to find it.

  • Have you heard the "new song" demo yet?

  • you must really like the Who Are You Album,

  • lol... Yeah, I like these particular songs alot. I've been working on "Who's Next" also, but I really want to do them right so it will take some time.

  • BTW, your left hand playing is unbelievable!! Im a musician too and find very interesting how you change the rythmn with the left hand (for ex. 1:22s)! Seriosly!!

  • Glad you enjoyed. Yeah, my left hand as actually much weaker than the right as far as coordination goes. I do what I can with it to make cool rhythm patterns that complement the right hand. My drumming skills help out in that respect.

  • Piano sounds a bit out of tune but your playing is awesome. Congratulations.

  • Yeah, that piano is a train wreck, but the action is beautiful.
