@stantheman781 If you're talking about Rio the movie that was actually a Spinx Macaw not a Hyacinth. There are only bout 75 known Spinx macaws in the world
Maynard says a lot of false things in almost all of his videos, he said okapis were antelopes, he called Sichuan takins Golden-haired takins, he said red river hogs were endangered (least concern), he called bonobos, bonobo chimpanzees. He said that no one ever visits Monkey Island, but everyone goes He called a parma wallaby a baby kangaroo. He said siamangs are the loudest mammals in the world, I believe it but from experience, my research says otherwise. And many others.
You're wrong. - Mr. Maynard was alluding to the Hyacinth being the largest (as far as length from head-to-tip of tail, and width from wingtip-to-wingtip, not weight), and he's right. - The Hyacinth Macaw is widely recognized by all avian experts as the largest of all flying parrots! - There are numerous adaptations in which the species you brought up classify it in a unique category! Thank you!
Domestic Hyacinth Macaws DONT belong in Theme Parks or Zoos! Spoken by a 16 Year Hyacinth and Green Winged Macaw Parrot Care Specialist.
Please don't support Parrots of any species in Theme Parks or Zoos. When the Rainforest Cafe got rid of over 200 young parrots in 2001 I launched a nation-wide campaign to find homes for the parrots that they were selling for $700 and the ones who didn't place ended up in a warehouse in Texas where, unfortunately they remain!
When I went to go and get my little parakeet, I saw someone bring out one of these. me and my sis were like... O_O OH...MY...GOSH! WHAT A BEAST! ITS SO COOL! WHOA! HUUUGGGGEEE! SNAP THAT THINGS BIG! lol
Not really, just provide the qualilty nuts and good pellets, and they like treats beaucoup, such as peanut butter and brazil nuts and almonds in the shell, as well as pizza, and almost always begs for a piece of cheese. They do live off of the cheaper nuts and veggies. They like peanuts also, as well as all types of fruits, but sometimes they do not like a particular type of food, like veggies.
@FreePersiaForAll you can feed parrots on cheap marrot mixes and it would cost you less then 10dollars a month which is about £7 but if you want a fit healthy bird then yes they can cost alot to feed and then you also need all the vitamin suppliments, wooden toys which they love to destroy so i have a whole box full and other treats and you need to also spend a good 3 to 4 hours each day with them to stop them getting bored so its not just cost of food
@myparrots1 Very true, every time I see one of these beauties it just brings a smile to my face. Just one look at their face can turn your saddest days happy.

great bird, but hyacinth are not the biggest parrot, that title belongs to the kakapo (Strigops habroptila).
luima23 1 year ago
@luima23 I've been told that this is the tallest, while the Kakapo is the heaviest. I'm not sure if that's true or not, though.

Apparently it costs a 100 dollars a month for their food, cant they just live of peanuts, other cheaper nuts, fruits and veggies?
