  • I watched the entire 30minutes because I was genuinely interested in everything you said about the game. However, when you said "Right now, the only reason to be a bad guy is because you want to be a dick," I couldn't help but chuckle. There are a vast legion of players out there who will be the bad guy with just that sole motivation alone.

  • @Chuckler127 Wrong. If you're a criminal you get bonus PVP dmg depending on how low your CP is.

  • I think you're bad points you point out are good, but your fixes seem pretty misguided. Just increasing number fixes nothing, not everyone enjoys big numbers anyway. The giant, so-large-it-doesn't-matter numbers in FF13 are the main thing that made me never interested in it. I don't disagree that leveling faster is good, but only if that brings increased character customization and choice. Hitting for 1 is bad, 10 is good, 100 or 1000 a few hours into the game is just arbitrary.

    As for the number change, I was referring to a decimal shift.

    The game currently supports hidden figures and your attacks rarely hit for the amount that the spell description says they will

    Currently ya hit 9.23 - 9.47 dmg every attack ~ with the shift that I suggested, you'll now hit for 92.3 - 94.7 dmg every attack.

    HP would work the same way ~ while this may seem trivial.. all it really does is present player progression.

  • I personally enjoy wakfu, it seems if you're alone, it's a terrible game but whenever your with a good active guild or friends its a really good game.

  • If the game is really as bad as you make it sound, then that really sucks. I was looking foward to a good successor to the Dofus games; I really liked the animations of Dofus 1.29 and before, such as the animations/sprites of the Feca shield spells. I've heard stories that Dofus 2.0 is worst than 1.29, that many of the skill animations are now messed up (different for the worst) Does anyone know if Dofus 2.0 is worth getting into, or just a complete waste of time?

  • I think the one thing wakfu needs to do is increase numbers in general. So really...just times everything by 10. Spell does 3 damage base now? Does 30. Start with 60 HP? Thats 600.

    It may seem like it does nothing...but it does ALOT to the perception. So I agree with a perception that hitting for 1~5 at level 9 or so is just depressing.

  • I really want to like this game, but I cant. I just find the game so boring. All I did while playing was grind. I really really like the art of the game, I like the show, but this game doesn't really appeal to me. I agree with you 100% on this video, and I applaud you for being able to make videos about this game weekly.

  • The "skill levels per use" system was determined to be "too grindy" for Flyff, a Korean grindfest MMO.

    For the system to be so poorly implemented in an MMO in 2012 is a disgrace. Ankama has always drawn people in due to their superior art direction, but they've always been totally rubbish in terms of gameplay and economy decisions.

  • I quit playing the beta after watching this. To many things about this game are flawed. If it has been 4 years and they haven't listen to the core fan base by now I have little faith they will start listening to people even if it goes pay to play.

  • I'm currently really worried for WAKFU, on February is the release and the way the game is currently i wouldn't even consider paying for it.

  • Your changes essentially translate into, "change this game into mabinogi S1, before NA Nexon dicked it." To me, at least. Don't get me wrong, that isn't negative. Not at all. What Wakfu really lacked for me was direction and true choice. It felt empty, boring.

  • I see. Wakfu has a very big potential, however the devs seem to not care about it really. I'm hoping for things to be different, possibly they are changing most sets to be crafted in Official Game.

    About Eniripsa, they are being revamped. I've read on french forums the future changes for the fire branch and they sound awesome. They may have a spell that deals damage and transfer the damage dealt as healing to the closest ally :)

  • Well, even if Ankama don't fix Wakfu, provided that it becomes famous enough, maybe it will give gaming companies ideas to create good Tactical MMOs, think about the possibilities, guys.

  • Good video. Finally someone took the time to point out the obvious problems and some decent solutions.

    Ankama would do well to create a think tank from the most influential players in the game. It has always been my dream to see this game flourish and Im afraid that wont come true in it's current state.

    Aww yeee nigger, he knows what I'm talkin bout. Though I do have a question; you seem to be a thoughtful individual and seem to recognize how futile mmos are. I mean, why would changing the numbers of the game change it's nature? It still would be grindy as all hell without drastic revisions.

    But more importantly, doesn't the illusion of progress not matter at all? mmos are ethereal and die out with the years... whats the point in caring about progression in this game at all?

  • The game is in beta, no matter how close they are to launch, and as people say beta is beta. There are still tons of things to fix, and alot of the content still isn't there yet. I mean dofus was ENORMOUS it took you atleast 40 minutes to run from one side of the area to another. I expect they'll add more to island such as special crafting materials or creatures that are specific to the area. Maybe more dungeons. You can only make assumptions really. The devs never really had a history of being

    grind = worthless, I want a challenge and I wanna have fun.

    The current system on dofus and wakfu doesn't cater to that mindset.

  • One thing I don't agree on though is the level illusion. Maybe they should normalize all the spells so that they all level up when the character levels up.

  • Speaking of low numbers, what i enjoy is being level 6, fighting a lvl 5 mob. I have 80 hp it has 100, i do 3 dmg per round it does 10....

  • Meh, a lot I don't agree with.

    1. Big numbers suck, personally I hate them, and a lot of other players still say "woah 60 damage in one hit? EPIC!" as many as would say "woah 600!!" if the numbers were all x10

    2. "The average player" the game is filled with them, you are one of them. Imaginary 3rd party fallacy.

    3. Wakfu doesn't feel epic, and I wouldn't want it to.

    4. I don't want to waste my time in Incarnum, I want to explore.

    Big numbers is better then small numbers when considering gear that adds 2%-5% dmg of a whole base 10 dmg is Zero. At least with 100 base dmg, 2% will at least add a real 2 dmg. Magnitude/precision in dmg matters.

  • I really like your ideas and your right. Things need to be fixed! I just started the game a couple of days ago and I had to do 8 hours of research to find out that most of the classes I wanted to play were either, useless or "unplayable at this time". I love the feel of the game but when I look at the full game I'm kinda disappointed. They need help, I think you should start working for them cause your ideas just might save this game.

  • @HunterGuilherme ~ lol... you know wakfu currently has lv48-55 SPIDERS in Bonta right? things you've said give you a sense of accomplishment to kill at lower levels.

    Infact, right now the highest level creature you can kill *(if he hasn't been removed) is Kabronk.. a wind dude that flies on a stick XD.

    as for my vid tho.. I did say some mobs should be *re-routed* into astrub and even if the undead rat was lv75... there's still a lv200 cap ~ loads of room for stronger mobs ^_^

  • I don't agree with you in 1 thing, you should that the player should feel like he accomplished something, but you also said that after leaving Astrub(at like, level 50), you would be killing those rats in the nations, but they'd be level 75.

  • I hope Square Enix doesn't make the same mistake with Wakfu that they did with FF14.

  • I don't agree with the "give me 50 levels out of astrub." Wouldn't be much of a challenge to hit the level cap.

  • @Fausteaux ~ not sure how.. we're talking bout a lv200 cap.

    that along with the fact that astrub will be much larger and keep

    the player busy for the first week or two just trying to explore and

    play around in the new dungeons/content.

    include the fact that you level faster in the beginning and how

    easy it'll be to test out all your skills.. along with the PvP arena..

    there's just so much you could do.. it would be no surprise to

    be anything less then lv50 by the time you leave.

  • @RequiemsVoid Well, you figure if you hit level 50 by the time you get out of astrub, you're 1/4th clear of hitting that cap. the challenge for the non-casual players wouldn't be there. granted, the exp really does need to be tweaked in our favor but 50's a bit much. I've played dofus for a while and quit because of the constant grind though. maybe if they could offer more ways for getting to that level..I dunno.

    Non-casuals just do everything faster, then move on to craft/pvp :P

  • @Fausteaux It's not true at all that you're a quarter of the way there. Although I can't find a table online from just a cursory glance, the amount of experience you need between levels tends to grow exponentially. Level 50 might mean you've hit 1/4 of the levels, but most definitely not 1/4 of the exp...

  • @KristineRable That's exactly what I was thinking; in some games I've played with a lvl 100 cap, once you had hit lvl 92 you had earned half of the experience needed to get to lvl 100.

    Not only that, but if you give people 50lv's in the "Free Area", then you really could justify calling it a F2P Game.

    You simply get an additional 150 lv's if your subscribe.

  • yeah in this game..basically money wise and shopping wise...The game is a dollar store...just 95% of all items in the game that people sell/vend. They charge 1 kama for the items....a dollar store...

  • true, true. I started to play beta. I made a like 400 kamas, bought almost all that I could and wanted. But to get lvl to equip stuff -.- So much grind. Killing the same monsters with same spells all the time

  • The unrealized potential this game has is really saddening. I love the strategy RPG-type battle system and a lot of the concepts of player-run governments and economies, but there are just so many poor design choices and features that just seem to be missing or lacking. I agree with almost everything you say here and they probably won't see any money from me until some of these things change.

  • @xSagez oh wow u played constantly for a week...*claps* bravo...now in all seriously this guy has made alot of vids about wakfu and all are great. He has played the game for a while and has pointed of great points on things that are wrong with the game. I have been playing Wakfu on and off for years now, since the fr version before Square enix got it...4 years of cbt.Somthing is wrong on the Dev teams side when a game takes that long for a CBT...and even know in obt alot of stuff are still wrong

  • I agree completely, if you look at the old Runescape's Tutorial Island, it was perfect, you looked at all the skills in the game, you did quests and all. "Wow, I can fish shrimps! Then I can cut wood! Then light the wood and cook the shrimps!";"Wow, I can mine ores and then smelt my own armor and weapon, it's awesome!".

    It's just the best way to do it, the game has too much to be fixed yet.

  • All I know is that I've been playing the game constantly for a week because its fun and addictive. RequiemsVoid is whining about every little thing that isn't the way he wants it to be. It's ridiculous...

  • Incarnam and the game in general needs guidance. Throwing you in the world with no direction makes people extremely confused, not to mention the confusion of where to put your skill points.

    Advancing from there, Hp needs a definite nerf. I don't care if it takes 3 points per 1 hp and the mobs get their damage nerfed some.

    This leads me to spells. There needs to be a little more damage progression in the beginning and a total re-balance for some spells in general.

    Thank you for the statement about the subscription. So many people think subscriptions are better, but F2P is so much better when it's done right.

  • I like the idea of faster levels. But not higher damage. I like the lower damage, makes me think more about the combat.

    Faster levels mean I can experiment with my support skills and stats more, and make more alts, and find what I want. :)

  • So... Need more crafting content. A lot more.

    Need more tutorial content revolving around Astrub, as well as about respective Nations.

    A lot more user-friendly guidance about a player's goals in the game.

  • 1. Incarnam is a tutorial. You never get all professions in the tutorial. And it has quests and everything right now, the cat does tell you to go to the kanodojo and to the wolf area. It's not just killing wodents.

    2. In a way, lvl 50 is like being 1/4 done with the game, seeing as the max lvl (might) be 200.

    3. I'd rather be doing 1 damage at level 1 than 100 at lvl 1. The problem is gaining a spell lvl without it gaining at least one more damage.

    Other than that, you mostly made good points.

  • I agree 100% with everything you said. I really like this game and i have high hopes for it. But it seems to be going downhill. It is a weeks before their so called "official launch" and it looks as if it is barely out of CBT phase, inlcuding 2 classes that are taken out awaiting testing..

    They need to fix alot of things with this game or else it is done for. I do not think fan boys alone paying 6$ a pop will keep it alive. mmosite,mmobomb,mmorpg,onrpg places i go too people dislike this game
