  • "LA" TtE 2008

  • SNAP, SNAP!

  • The dancing, the singing is wonderful!

besides those women with naked legs, very disturbing.

  • public enemies brought me here...

  • love watchin her dancing.....m

  • rofl hahahaha

  • i soooooooooooooooooooooooooo love her i would give anything to see her live even now

  • i soooooooooooooooooooooooooo love her

  • I just love the style. Funks up a great song. Love it

  • WOW i didnt know john holmes did some dancing!

  • better than coffee

  • Amazing Liza!!

  • Liza Minnelli, Triple Threat nonpareillel ! ! ! Amid a galaxy of great dancers, indubitably she is the Star ... Owns the stage. Ever smoother than silk, hepper than hep.

  • God doesnt make singers like Liza anymore.

  • @themelion sure he does. we destroy ourselves.

  • i like it but at some parts i don't like it

  • The advertisement was better. if u think that was good u guys are high that was Shit, i would rather listen to the adds..

  • Wonderful performance:)

  • Stunning.

  • It's still her voice and it's awesome how you really don't notice it at first since she does it so well. Then you watch it a couple more times then ask yourself, wait this is 1972 where are the mics??? :)

  • However, just because she was lip-syncing doesn't mean it wasn't a great performance! Liza is always awesome.

  • @lovemerylfan3 - Liza was lip-syncing here. She's not holding any mic, and headset mics, for use with dance, hadn't been invented yet at the time of this performance -- Kate Bush used one first in 1979. There's no way she could have been recorded this way, singing live, without a mic.

  • @meumar Also I'm a singer and I never use a mic they probably had mics around the stage you just don't see them because they are most likely hanging from the ceiling.

  • @TheBeanieProductions nope. she's lip syncing to a pre recording of herself. also a little giveaway, notice you can't snap or clap with gloves on (the dancers) with out it muffling the sound.

  • @meumar Uh, they didnt use mics on broadway either. Yes, she is most likely lip-syncing here because of the dance number, but dont forget that mics were only introduced to broadway in the 1980's and every singer worth his/her salt had to sing over an orchestra without one.

  • Nice tune. I got to this by listening to the Mills Brothers do their version.

Have not heard a bad version yet.

Liza really makes this her own. that is what is so nice

  • Way to go Liza, you gave it the kick it needs, let's get the people dancing not waltzing. Anyway this is not the version I remember. The version I remember was from the earlier 50's, it was my mother 78rpm and I played the records in her collection, but I'll be damn if I can remember who the artist was on that recording but Liza dose a good job of covering this bird. I just listened to a version with a downbeat & I didn't care to waltz to the Blackbird, I prefer this version by a longshot!

  • She wasn't as talented as her mother, but few people have been. But, she's still great and she'll always be the definitive Sally Bowles.

  • @jckfmsincty not as talented as Judy..ARE YOU FOR REAL??? look at some of Liza's stuff when she was 17-22 then say that...

  • Simply brilliant!

  • You can download the audio-mp3 of this video at grabyourmp3s doht cohm.

  • no one here can love or understaaand meee!

  • and if he wiggles an certain way it'll look as if she's wiping her ass you know?

  • judy garlands daughter wow you can tell nice both of them are great

  • amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Great song to swing; however, I think she took it too far. This seems campy.

  • Favorite song from Liza with a Z

  • @sir1920 OK, she's not a classic beauty, but she went pretty far with what she had. Her style is her own. Desi Arnaz Jr. (pretty hot back then) didn't kick her out of his bed. BTW, She is the ONLY actor/actress to have ever gotten not just an Emmy, but also a Tony and an Oscar. Anjelina Jolie will be nothing when her looks fade. Matter of fact, I'd rather boink Liza than some soul-less bimbo any day.

  • @jammerbarn - Not so. Rita Moreno is first actress to win Oscar,Tony,Grammy and

Emmy. Liza was awarded 'special grammy'. See list on Wiki - under persons who have won ^ ^ 4 awards mentioned above. To paraphrase Toad the Wet Sprocket song 'Nanci' - 'You take Liza, I'll take Angie Jolie.'

  • to see another great you tube video type in liza minnelli back in business and watch a star sing!!

  • amazing !!!!!!!

  • Were the mustaches mandatory?

  • absolute shit

  • gimmie an excedrine

  • i just saw the concert on tv and now i can't stop singing this song.

  • Fossee = genius. SO many artists of today use his choreography.

  • They should've played this at Michael Jackson funeral! Bye Bye Blackbird!

  • Me gustaría saber donde puedo conseguir esta versión de BYE BYE BLACKBIRD pero solo el SOUND TRACK

  • @yuridancer1 En Spotyfy

  • It looks like she's lip syncing, but who cares, we know she's awesome anyway. And she's probably lip syncing because of the dancing.

  • Joyous...I remember watching this the night it was on tv- spectacular even after all these years!!

  • She's grand. What a talen!

  • @romerofosho talent*

  • i love this song some of the best songs are probably the oldest

  • fantastic!!!

    VERRY GOOD!!!

  • Can see Fosse's influence on the dance.

  • wonderful no body could dance fosses style better the liza

  • dis is da song my dance teachers daughter naoimh morgan danced to at the feis

  • wonderful performance.

  • I love Liza <3 She is so talented!

  • Sensational.

  • I play bye bye blackbird everyday. It's one of my favorites and it's one the best song I ever played.

  • amazing performer, everything is so perfect in this piece

  • Liza is incomparable. Still today incomparable.

  • Like this

  • It's neither fair nor smart to compare her to her mother, but with the advantage of being raised by Judy Garland, I believe she at least equaled if not exceeded her mother's artistry.

  • I love Fosse. Is the godfather of the new modern dance.

  • omg- the ending her face-everything... wow.

    Liza- amazing.

  • This song follows Son of a Preacher Man on the album... and love this too !!! So cool !!!

  • damm this song is so awesome the fosse coreography is just genius an dLIZA she just has it ..no one cud ever do this song better . cant wait to see her in a week in Australia

  • I love this version of the song! GREAT, it was done very well! :)

  • those so called singers like Madonna and Britney Spears can take lessons from the likes of Liza, Barbra, Bette, and Cher when it comes to giving a life performance. Notice??? No lip singing, it's all live. I have seen all of them in concert and they were all amazing!!!!!

  • @lovemerylfan3

I absolutely agree with you. These are my 4 favorite female singers of all times and have seen all of them live several times - 5 for Liza, 5 for Bette, 4 for Cher and 3 for Barbra. They all have great work ethics and the vaudevillian mentality. Bob Fosse was one of the greatest choreographers and his work will never be dated; I can't believe the idiots that think it is - almost like it shouldn't be performed anymore. Liza executes his choreography in a fabulous way.

  • seriously.. it doesn't get any better than that

  • WOW!!! This is one of the best numbers in the show and far and away the best version of this song period. The only other person who even comes close is Joe Cocker and his version is a lot more blues than jazz like this number. This song has been around for almost 100 years now and it never ages. Great song, amazing performance as always by Liza!!

  • 100 years? - nope. Try 1926.

  • Amazing

  • Amazing.

    Perfect.

    Love her voice!

  • Perfect!

  • It's true that many of Fosse's tropes did become Broadway clichés over time, but that's only because they were such good ideas in the first place.

It's hard to imagine just how cutting-edge this stuff was at the time, because the style was so rapidly absorbed into the Broadway canon, but just watch the discipline here and you'll see why it's so smokin'! And Liza always looks like she's having such a great time, which helps!

  • great!

  • best version of this song

  • What a great performer!!

  • Does anyone know if this is available on DVD, with European area code?

  • Whenever I feel bad or down, I watch this performance and get reminded that masterpieces can still be created in this world :D

  • I watch this for the same reason...

  • the queen of music hall, the daughter of the queen of singing jazz...

  • Public Enemies is amazing;) Johnny Depp....mmmmm;)

  • i agree!

  • is this the same blackbird song as heard on Public Enemies? though the one in the movie was a much sadder version

  • yes, it was different in movie. write Diana Krall - Bye bye, blackbird, and this is the one from Public Enemies

  • -----HÁAAAAA....és EXTRAORDINÁRIO.-!!!!!

  • Fantastic dance :D the choreography is amazing

  • If anyone has any doubts why this won an Emmy, and was so widely praised, all they have to do is watch this.

  • Bob Fosse is amazing and so is Liza

  • wow. i love this!! And the choreography is incredible I love it

  • wow! great performance!!

  • my dance studio danced to this and itwas awesome!!

  • Best song and dance on "Liza with a Z"

  • @bestfriendska12

If that's so, why haven't we heard your version and why haven't you been on tv with your own show?

  • this most definetly influenced Micheal Jackson's BILLIE JEAN. White gloves hat and classic FOSSE moves an incredible achievement left me speechless....

  • i have to sing this song in choir and it is so weird but i like it and you dont want to know what this song is about

  • Fosse is an undisputed genius!! Every dancer is influenced and inspired by him. The choreography is inimitable. The best.

  • I love this great performance by Liza

  • she is indeed an icon--amen dear

  • fosse!

  • I have to sing this song for choir.

  • Liza and Fosse what a team!!!!!!

  • Liza wow great

  • Isn't that Ann Renking dancing?

  • Dang Liza, when you have the right director you sure do deliver.

  • Love this song so much just pure brilliance how it wavers through soft then roudy, staccato to smooth, brilliant!!!

  • Great........so great!

  • my mother used to sing this to me before i went to bed but not in this style

  • the band deff speeds up after the dance

  • she's so cute... gaw.

  • I love this!

    This is incredible!

  • one of my absolute favorites from Liza... amazing!

  • Saw Liza last night at the Palace, even at 62 she still WOW's them. Amazing perfomance she closed the show with "Have yourself a merry little christmas" she does her mothers song justice, brought tears to my eyes

  • Mom and Dad would be proud, Liza.

    Love you...

  • and here I was expecting some ultraviolence

  • Nope...don't let the bowler fool you.

  • this is so incredibly fosse

if i was trying to define fosse to someone, i'd just show them this haha

  • if you ever audition for a professional show, you will learn the break at 2:38ish

  • Is Ann Reinking dancing in this?

  • No, Ann is not in this special. Trish Garland from A Chorus Line is the tall redhead and Candy Brown from Pippin and Chicago is also in it.

  • amazing dancing. Loved it.

  • Love Liza, Love Fosse, Love to watch this dance, Love to do this dance!!What a number :D

  • This is by far the best rendition of the song. Great choreography and Minnelli is perfect for the song. Love it !

  • I like this version very much, but I think the version of Pia Douwes is even better! You really should look it up (L)

  • I was smiling and saying WOW, WOW, WOW the whole time. Oh that was beaut-eeee-ful! So f-ing cool! And that's the way to do it. I was so very fortunate to see the special Broadway Cares screening of this amazing film at the Ziegfeld Theater in March of 2006 and the "wow" couldn't possibly describe the magic vibe in that theater! I have a few seconds of quicktime video of Liza speaking after the screening lying around somewhere. . . ;)

  • this is so freakin' cool

  • WOW!

  • At 1:18 to about 1:27, the dancer behind Liza and to her right looks like Ann Reinking. Is that her?

  • Dinah Shore at 3:48!

  • I don't know. I think she looks more like Gwen Verdon to me.

  • Oh of course you're correct!

  • The tall redhead is Trish Garland from the original cast of A Chorus Line; Gwen Verdon is in the shot of the audience in something gold. Ann did not meet Fosse until Pippin which is after this special. The only person in the special that also did Pippin and Chicago (and the first ACL workshop) is Candy Brown.

  • Oh so MOD. Liza is genius

  • id fossee cheorgraph this?

  • Yes!

  • @silvershields yeah its a fossee, you cant tell by the hands :)

  • @silvershields no, its similar, but changed alot

  • I can't get enough, what a fox, what talent! Gosh! If only this was modern entertainment!

  • Freakin awesome!

  • Wasn't this piece just exquisite!

  • god, i adore liza, especially when she's performing fosse.

  • Liza is the best!

  • I love this!!

  • sounding just like her great mother

  • brilliant!

  • saw liza yesterday in stockholm! was great! cried of happiness to see her live! eva

  • Una vez mas GRANDIOSA.

  • yes, she is!!!
