  • FUCKING GAME

  • this game is where most of my time went loved it shame about renegade 3 it sucked balls 2 player rocked.

  • LOVED this game! Thanks for upping it, hearing the music again nearly moved me to tears.

    :)

    Subbed.

  • loved renegade and target renegade also loved sensible soccer on the sega megadrive.

  • Beat It would be a good soundtrack for this game.

  • The plot is simple. Just beat the shit out of anyone who bothers you !

    FOR REAL ! #LOL

  • This was one of my favourite games,...i remember once i mashed the keyboard randomly and it gave me infinate lives and i completed it lol

  • at the time this was considered a great game...used to play it with my m8 listening to and justice for all...by metallica ( 1988)

  • Dude when i look at this video it remindes me of my childood i spent so many hours playing this game on my ZX Spectrum this really remindes me the good old days...Thanks for posting this (",)

    5*

  • This is one of the all time greats.

the game play, multiplayer option and music was so slick for the time.

You can play this on a modulator on a pc and its still a great laugh even now.

  • this was a popular game back in the 80's. thanks for uploading, borught back memories! Is this game still available to buy on some other format? I haven't seen any spectum 128k computers for sale lately!

  • @eternallycool spectrum plus 2 for sale 25 pounds 6 games.renegade and target renegade.

  • @jimpurdie

Plus 2? Pshh, they're for spoiled posh brats! Us cool ghetto kids worked with rubber keys and cobbled together tape players.

    Hehehe :)

  • One of the best Speccy Games, spent hours on this as a kid.

Kids nowadays dont realise how easy they got it now....

No speccy 48k moments of having to load each level from tape, or worse the dreaded wait for games to get to 90% then see the wire from the tape player to Spectrum get knocked and have to start all over lol

  • I just got a spectrum +2 and bought gryzor and target renegade. My mum shall wrap it up and give it me for my 11th birthday! And yes, i know i am fucking mental.

  • Q,A,O,P, SPACE on a +2 keyboard, best control method for me on most games, better than any joystick. I would be peed off if there wasn't a redefine keys option.

This is a truly great 2 player game

  • @LoLzZ85 I never realised at the time you could have 2 players. Missed out there. Sounds like a great laugh.

  • @LoLzZ85 i used to play this game online in 1988

  • 48k amazing music2 ruin keys? as a kid1 christmas i did real well all at once got the bmx radio control car lego technic car 128kb speccy tape deck musta done ok on child's play on ITV huh? just remember if some tv-sissy come round ur school its child's play not catch phrase just say what u c. anyway also had them cheap* pilot-style 3xred-button joysticks killed that fckr daly thompsons olympic challenge ever u need a paddle j-stik then that the fkng gme rght thr *dad mebbe tell u if chp or no.
  • brings back memories of the good old 80s

  • Damn i had this aswell! very addictive game! Ahh the memories man!!!

  • Thx for uploading all this -(feels a nostalga for the good ole days), the ZX Spectrum had alot of character.

  • As the MSX user i was, always missed this great game on MSX :(

  • As a minor correction, Target Renegade isn't actually conversion from arcade game, unlike the first Renegade. Both Target Renegade and Renegade III were developed specifically for home computers in the West without involvement from the Japanese developer (Technos) of the original arcade release of Renegade (which was westernized localization of Nekketsu Kōha Kunio-kun).

However, the first Double Dragon (created by Technos) has been considered a spiritual successor to Renegade.

  • One of my top 3 ever. Formidable game, formidable music, formidable everything. pretty easy but great nonetheless. A mark.

  • the best game ever!!!!

  • Amazing game. I remember used to play this with my best mate all the time. 2 player was so much better than solo. I remember you could steal the pimps gun too. That was sweet. Forgot there was a mace in it.

  • One of my favourite beat'em up games, this and the original Renegade. That was a bit harder though. I think the best versions were the ZX Spectrum ones. Renegade 3 was rather poor...

  • hahah i remember buying this for like £3.99 from w h smiths

  • Another favourite, great music!

  • @ianwilson1978

Youre right Ian! Definatly some good tunes in this game. They're all nicely composed!

  • wow this was so great speccy had the besy version i loved beating the crap out of big bertha

  • I had this game when it first came out in the late 80s. One of the best games of all time. I just wish their do a remake of it in HD but keep it 2D looking.

  • Awesome music for its time, very atmospheric - biker sounds aside!

  • Gary Biasillo created this tunes. Great composer!

  • Used to play this game aged 7 or 8...could complete it 4 or 5 times in a row before I just stopped. Can still remember the excitement of the last level..trying to get that pool cue to rattle over the bosses head. Those guys on forth level who used to duck your jump kick, and you had to do a double back kick straight after..HAPPY DAYS!

  • i had this game on Amstrad cpc 6128. I used to play with my brother. What excellent software it was !

Congratulations to the creator of these tunes !

Now i play on xbox 360 but magic has gone. You can't anymore create and sell this type of game now cause money imposates its rule.

  • 5:58 =D

    le crunch bunch

  • that was one of the best games on zx specxtrum 48k. i ve got that computer in 1990 during USSR. me and my brother killed keyboard on that game ))

  • It's a good job you didn't play Daley Thompson then!

  • All about the face pummel

  • I had this..on speccy 128k..with the tape built in. loved it..it was a 2 player, tho the 1st renegade was ok, the 3rd went all monsters and shit. Them were the days tho, eh?..nevermind your XBOX360s, etc...gimmie a speccy..or commadore64 and a copy of EmlynHughesInternationalSoccer...and I am a very happy man.

  • I live in the United States, and the only version of it we got was a shitty Nintendo Entertainment System port. That version's so horrible, it is literally impossible to beat Level 2. Why, you might have asked? Because it won't allow you to damage the end boss. AT ALL. Whoever thought that was a good idea needs to be beat the hell out of.

  • love this game even tho it takes 12 mins to load lol

  • The loading was part of the fun. If that's what the loading screen looks like, what is the game going to look like! It was only when it crashed. But we persevered. Those yellow and blue stripes will never be forgotten! One of the best speccy games. I like the way you can't use the same simple moves on the later levels.

  • don't like to use emulators since I bought a +2 off ebay so its back to the old days of waiting for games to load and I'm loving it really :)

  • The best way really. Gives you time to make a cup of tea. Hardcore gaming! Now you're going to have to start building up a collection unless you still have a lot of the old games.

  • Just posted a video response of the Amstrad version :)

How do you think the 2 versions compare? Strengths and weaknesses?

  • target renegade is such a great game! I remember this one on the speccy.

  • An absolute classic! I would recommend this to anyone. Still very playable today.

  • in fact...i played it on an emulator today...it rocks! Got to level 4

  • Good on you mate! Level 4 eh! Pretty good going there.

  • Pedazo juego,me lo compre 2 veces.

Una individual y en el pack Accion Total creo que se llamaba.

    Que recuerdos.....

  • La música la llevaré siempre grabada en mi cabeza y mi corazón, es preciosa!

I have the music recorded in my head and my heart, it is so beautiful!

  • That just sounds freaky, lol!!!

  • Target Renegade is one of my favourite games on the Spectrum 128K.

  • This game will always be one of the top speccy games. Just great!

  • Adoro este juego.

I think is the number one!, tears in my eyes, thanks SPINNYFUCK !!!

  • If I wasn't a man I would kiss you. You're welcome!

  • This feels like a girl playing a jukebox. I like the game and sound still.

  • used to play 2player wiv my brother on this back in the day ....

I prefer this to DoubleDragon anyday although streets of rage comes close

Love the soundtrack does anybody know the chords for it

  • Another classic! This game was incredibly satisfying. One of my fave speccy games

  • Classic, one of the first full price games I bought on the ZX. I remembered the music being particularly good. Can't wait to see the bit i the snooker hall with the cues.

  • I remember this you had to time the fly kicks just right

  • Solo con la musia tiemblo loco. Pedazo de juego. Y lo que tardaba en cargar. Cara A y Cara B.saludos.

  • What a great game !! First one wasn't bad either but this was a tad more friendly. That music brings it all back. Happy days.

  • i used to bunk off school to play this at my house wiv my mates, thank god mum worked shifts!

  • Lol! My mate used to bunk off college when I took Curse of Sherwood up to his flat.

  • Never completed the curse of sherwood, the swamp was hard wasnt it

  • Yeah, the swamp was very difficult, but after that it was easy!

  • A fuckin classic. :D

  • I remember when this came out. Compared to the first game the music was so sad and depressing.

  • Thanks for cheering me up! LOL!

  • one of my favourite Speccy games, fantastic multiplayer, i always hated those ducking guys when i was a kid (until i got the back kick move down to a tee)

  • I always used to lose with the ducking guys as well. And the guy in the pool room I would try and fight him without the cue. Game Over!

  • What a great, insanely violent game. Lol.

I always loved the shamelessness of it - hookers with ENORMOUS chests kneeing you in the groin, twatting opponents with hammers and pool cues, and kneeling down on your adversary to finish them off the floor.

    Pure class!

  • The only real fun and challenging way to play the game is to try not to resort to flying kicks all the time. Sadly like in my review, half the time you end up with a smack in the head and couple more in the bollocks for your troubles.

  • I was playing the first renegade game the other day and thinking how can't I do flying kicks. Needless to say I got beaten up. The flying kick comes into its own on levels 4 and 5. It's the only way to defeat the opponents. Renegade is more of a challenge though.

  • Great but repetative game, tried playing this recently on me emulator and it crashed after the first level :P

  • Sounds like a good emulator. Sounds like a good emulator. It probably helps if you don't use the escape key as 'Hit'. I was going to upload more of this but the video cuts out before its meant to. Will need to play 2 other levels again! :[
