Shut the fuck up! Matt Cameron is awesome drummer and he sounds great in Soundgarden. He's not kind of drummers for PJ. Matt sounds more like jazz drummer. And Dave Abbruzzese is monster, just perfect for PJ, but shit happens.

Each Pearl Jam drummer was the best fit for their respective era. My favorites are the ever-so-slightly flashy, yet super crisp and urgent-sounding Abbruzese era... and No Code-era Jack Irons stuff... that material has a warm feel to it with shades of Keith Moon.... and a really unique dynamic.

@ragejg Abbruzzese was fortunately able to play both is an Krusen's material spot on to great effect, and I hate to say it but I'd think he'd sound awesome playing Cameron's stuff too. Jack Irons... well, he sounds best playing the Jack Irons stuff, not anyone else's. Same for Cameron. Sound-wise I think Abbruzzese and Krusen would be the most versatile PJ drummers; Cameron and Irons are best at their OWN material. Although I think nobody can play Irons' stuff... except Irons.

@ragejg Have you ever spent any time focusing to ONLY Jack Iron's drum track? Because most of the he's playing very simple stuff. Any decent drummer can play Iron's stuff.

Am I the only one here who prefers Matt on PJ? This guy is a joke, only attitude and hair. Matt is more talented, listen to Soundgarden carefully, thousand times more complex than Dave's style. Listen to each Even Flow of each 2000's PJ's concert and you will hear a different drum soIo at the end before the last chorus. I also prefer Jack Irons than this guy. He was even more groovy.

@lumalav666 Matt Cameron plays the exact same drum beat for all pre-Binaural songs. Evenflow / Animal / Daughter / you name it. He sucks the life out of them. No finesse. I think the Binaural and later songs have good drumming, but Dave had real style. Look at how much life he injected into the re-recorded Evenflow!

@lumalav666 Go watch Even Flow on Unplugged and the official video. And then mute your face, because I think you actually are the only one here who thinks that someone was better for Pearl Jam. When it comes to the songs from the era, I only listen to versions with Abbruzzese. Others, I Ignore. And for the record, the Touring Band-era (about 2000) Even Flow sucked ass. No flourishes, way to fast, not a single splash cymbal, not one doublestroke on bass drum. Dave is far superior in every way.

@soberek I have, I've been listening to PJ since Ten. But PJ has grown since then. Splash? come on. It's Rock, not some dave matthews related band. Matt is way better. Listen to his version of immortality then. Even Matt Chamberlain (really similar style to Abbruzzese) was way better than him.

And for the record. If you haven't read the PJ20 book you should. It says that Eddie never liked Abbruzzese. He just couldn't stand in the same room with that guy because he broke his guitar that was a gift from Brendan O'Brien.

Jack Irons was a one dimmentional drummer, Dave had alot of different styles  of drumming,

@ROCKERRRR1 Well, I wouldn't go that far. Matt is just not suited to PJ's music style. He's way more of a force of nature in SG. But yeah, Dave was the man for PJ. I liked Krussen on the Ten album though...
