Great video! You're a really good teacher and I like your fresh take on hand paper making - we've been teaching paper making for years but haven't tried that technique! All the best, Tom
I have an Oak Park Beater paper making machine if anyone is interested. It comes with all the original paper work and it still works. Let me know if anyone is interested. I will send picks. Dealjas1@yahoo.com
I finally found an instructional video about making paper. Do you know how many people put out poor videos that don't provide the necessary information, just so they can promote their political views? I'm still looking for something a little more detailed, but this is a good beginners' lesson I can share with my niece. Thanks for posting it.
What a smart, well behaved class! I can't believe how good they are, and how smart and relavant their questions are. Also great teaching, your a good example for them! :)
@MoldytoasterMedia Yes, it would have been so much better to have taken these kids to a giant paper-making plant in China to teach them about the art of handmade paper. Then they could have stopped at Walmart and bought some printer paper, a Happy Meal and called it a day.
How much gas would you use to get to Walmart? How much time to get there, find the product and go back home? 1h? How much are you payed per hour? How much money needs spent to balance the CO2 footprint your purchase left behind?
Now add: $0.35+gas+time+time lost doing stuff with your kids = the actual value of those 100 sheets.
Don't even get me started about the conditions under which the $0.35 paper is made and the costs to ship it to USA and how is takin your jobs
@Bestyutza You can get it while buying groceries. I'm sure the amount of time it would take would be less than spending the entire day making a few sheets of paper.
Walmart is great. They take away jobs because they are efficient, don't tell me efficiency is bad.
What about all the electricity, time and water wasted to make a low quality piece of paper.
@MoldytoasterMedia It is definately NOT better for the enviroment...is better for the enviroment cutting down trees who produce oxygen WHICH U BTW BREATH!!!!And trees take in CO2 which humans breath out
Oh my God. I'm doing this paper project in my college class! And I'm watching this for my resources for a 4th grade project. the only difference is that it's a project for the 4th grade and it's a plate for a college student like me. LOL and why do I even bother sharing that hahaha
Love it, Demo over. Let the mayhem commence. I do the same lesson with my 4 Grade during Earth week they love it. I've started adding a small amount of water hyacinth, and wheat paste in the pulp, makes the paper makes the paper way less brittle.
hes a cool teacher and this is a cool class! if it was my4th grade teacher, he wold be a middle aged miserable woman who would of been taking a SHIT about the huge mess you make on the way to the glitter operation
ohh, i remember a few of my teachers being like that, too! lol. hilarious. it was like, "Be careful and be mindful of the floor. You're 7 year olds for god sakes! Ohh, geez, well you just spilled that all over the floor. Thank you. Why don't we all just do what he did?"
i mean, put down a damn tarp if you're so concerned! lol. i wish this man was my first grade teacher. god, she was a nightmare.
I'm a former K and first teacher. Good job. I love your set-up! I'm forwarding this video to my sister who is thinking about making paper for a project.
huhu . i wanna know the arrangement of materials in making the mold and deckle. we're also doing a project just like that. our materials for the mold and deckle are screen, picture frame and some kind of a fabric but we don't know how to put them together accordingly. please help?

You can go to walmart and get 100 sheets of real paper for 35 cents.
It will save you time, money, and it's better for the environment.

@2cute4u3000400 trees used to make paper are grown on tree farms. After they cut down the trees they plant new ones.
And a young growing tree produces more oxygen, and takes in more c02 than and old tree.
