The one thing Silent Hill and RE had in common was ridiculously awesome composed music. While RE took a more traditional but frightening musical route, Silent Hill went for an assault to the mind. The music can barely be called music, yet it made the entire game a nightmare. These two games are the definition of horror. (Silent Hill 1 and RE 1.) If you haven't found and played these two games, do it now. Never mind the graphics, modern games don't have the horror the old ones do.

@jordananthonyruiz The gist is he was in charge of feeding the "creatures", he didn't one day cuz he was pissed cuz they looked at him weirdly, the animals escaped and shortly after he had to wear a space suit (the virus must have gotten out) but he still got itchy and started rotting so eventually he was told he didn't have to wear it anymore (cuz the people figure he already has the virus) and his roommate walks in while he's almost a total zombie and kills him (itchy, tasty). Scary lol.

I think this music was on when you were at the 'Guardhouse' in the very first RE game. I thought RE1 & 2 were the best parts of the RE series, but I enjoyed the RE1 remake too.

One big factor people who criticize RE4 need to take into account, is that those who played RE, RE2, RE3, etc, when they were younger of course are going to be more afraid of those games, because they played them when they younger, but now that they are older, some of this new stuff won't seem as scary, I just love Resident Evil altogether.

All other RE have a darker atmosphäre. You are almost alone. In RE4/5 you are not, you have a NPC Partner. You have Riddles in the older games, who are not always easy, so you have to go around through the FROZEN CAM rooms exploring them again for clues. The Frozen CAm is one of the most FEAR FActors, cause you don´t KNOW what is in the next picture. In RE 4/5 you have always the feelinig of total control.

I know that they changed the style and that it's not as scary, It does surprise me that things like enemies having weapons like axes and chainsaws, doesn't frighten me or others. I do wish for RE6, they would change somethings back to the way they were before.

i specifically remember this song in that weird orange-lit room in the guard house. there were at least two zombies in the room, and the worst part was the camera angle because you could only see yourself from the floor's perspective so the instant you walked forward to get a new camera angle they would be right in your face.
