We NEED women like Anita in this video to portray the decency of a black woman on BET, our televisions and Hollywood..because the ones that we have today will not just do anything, but EVERYTHING for money...including degrading the image of what a respectable black woman is supposed to be. When you look at Anita in this music video you see a Woman of Class (not to mention REAL talent)...and when I look at the ones parading on my television screen today, I see women who have NO CLASS & NO TALENT.
I'll tell you truthfully if I were on my deathbed I would request that this song be played,it rests the soul and is very, very peaceful...it's without doubt my favorite song and one of the greatest love songs by one of the Greatest Artist of all Time! We Love You Anita!!!!!!!!!!!!
@lovie015 Why are people so up Adele's butt. She's ok. Her voice is average and the deep soul isn't there to me. There are other great singers like Marsha Ambrosius, Jill Scott, Erykah Badu and Mary J. Blige. But yeah, Anita Baker is the truth.
@RAINONYOURPARADE100 i love you we both have the same taste in he mist of all thi fucking people you are the only one who understands me God Bless your heart
I listen to all the good music of the 60's, 70's and 80's thanks to YOUTUBE and without fail there are always comments that the music on the radio today just doesn't come close. I just don't understand why this is the case. Those of us who love this music would definately pay to see it performed and listen to it on the radio. Have you noticed all of the Smooth Jazz radio channels going off the air in the past few years? How is that? Especially in cities like DC, Norfolk, Va. and others?
@lurch321 It is called the Kingston armory. There is an army reserve unit based there. It has been host to many concerts in it's day along with the circus every year. Not really built for sound but where I have had many a good time!
This is the very first song that I danced with my 1st boyfriend, "Chazz". Thank you for introducing me to great music. Every time I hear this song, it makes me think of you. RIP Chazz
My uncle had this as his wedding song with his first wife. Four years later, his wife got busted for driving while high on crack with their three-year-old daughter buckled into the front seat. I don't go to weddings anymore. Every wedding I've ever been to in 34 years on the planet (including my own) has ended in acrimonious divorce---I'm like a black cat thrown across the path of the marrying couple. But this song is still beautiful.
@SimuLord Can't imagine what that must be like. Everybody is getting divorced left and right. Makes me wonder how it's getting as bad as it is and if there's something that can be done to stop it. Maybe everybody needs to take some time out of their day to listen to songs like this. Yeah...see how drastically the divorce rates drop. Anita's just got that kind of power ha...
@humannaturedj Marrying a crackhead aside, I think it's choice anxiety. Online dating services, travel for work, and social networking makes us think that we have this huge dating pool to choose from, which makes us look more critically at our partners. Back when you only had people your same age in a small town to choose from, or maybe your church or workplace, it was more of a "try to make this work because we're stuck with each other" mentality...and people were happier. Weird.
@SimuLord I've literally never thought of it that way. You're 10000% RIGHT. It seems like people are getting lazier and weaker in marriages, too. On top of that, marriage is constantly sugarcoated and glamorized. There are too many unrealistic images of what marriage is. Women fall in love with the thought of getting married, so they rush into it thinking it'll be happily ever after. Once things get tough, they whine and file divorce. Even some men do this. It makes me sick.
happy man just seeing what i all day is something thinking about anita baker;s music about what thinking is great girls does that mean anything good just kicking listening to the music checking out the day is great awsome wow. eddie cortez o.c. califas
a masterpiece and legend for all times, the ones that are blessed and lucky enuff to hear her voice we jus dont know how lucky we are and where we gotta tell our kids kids kids kids...
ORBOT, YOU ARE SO RIGHT! THIS IS TIMELESS!! A NICE GLASS OF WINE, CHILLIN ON THE BALCONY AND LISTENING TO A SONG LIKE THIS IS SO ROMANTIC AND SOOTHING!!!
KICK'IN WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON........I know there is talent out there somewhere, why can't somebody find them and let us listen or is it all over?????
I think the reason why GREAT music like this is not being made is because people are not looking for love first. They're looking for sex, drinks and a good time instead of something with substance. Therefore, they only can sing about having a good time. They can't sing about something that they've never felt.
I don't see or hear this as BET music, but simply just a joy of sound to hear. Yes coming from a person that looks negro. I never liked categorizing music by ethnicity
I don't know what happened but something went terribly wrong after the 90's. Whether it was the Y2K bug or what but it's a crying shame that music like this will probably never be made again. I feel so privileged to have been around as this music was being produced, it breaks my heart to turn on the radio nowadays.
@Awesome056 : I used to feel the same way about her music...that I didnt understand...but I started looking at they lyrics along with the music...and they words speak to your heart. Beautiful woman.
There used to be an extended play version of this shortly after the song was released where her pianist had a solo for a couple of minutes. It was a fantastic version. They played it in Philly for a short time then it disappeared. I think it was a special radio edit. Does anyone know anything about that and how I might be able to get it?
@Orbot I'd have to agree with you on that. Classic song. Each time I've seen her perform this song in concert, it's like the first time. She always puts a different spin on it. This is great stuff.
