yeah I grew up in WA / ID and I've hunted AK, WA, ID, OR, MT, WY, SD and it's a shame that it has come to be such a commercialized thing. It's just like all this commercialization ruined good ole American baseball, apple pie, holidays, and now anything outdoorsy.. I'm in MD now and although it's deer hunting suburbia, at least the deer are wild. There is a game farm close by and he was advertising Zebra hunting for 3 grand so the "hunter" cant shoot til they take the halter off I guess.

Its a 3 year old, you can tell by his neck size and how thick his chest is. If the rack is that big at 3, at 6 its gonna be huge. If he knows that deer enough to have named him 45/70 than its on his own property. No wannabe hunter city folks with no land of their own are lilky to come shoot it while its still young. So he gets another 3 years of this deer mating and passing on big rack genes and than he can take it before it starts to decline in old age. Win/Win.

Nutrition has an effect of course, on size, antler mass, body condition, etc but a 1 year old pup is a 1 year old pup is a 1 year old pup.
